- Strawberry season happened in my cook week which is a good thing, I have fruit on hand for drinks, salads, desserts and so much more, so in that sense I guess I got lucky this year.

Rice balls: 2:36
2 cups rice
1/2 cup celery
1/2 cup onions
1 cup cooked chicken
1 cup cheese
Salt to taste
Cook rice until soft, rinse but, don’t cool too much. Mix all ingredients
And scoop into balls, dip in egg whites and roll in bread crumbs, fry on 325 until golden brown.
White chicken chili: 9:12

we just didn't include the hot peppers and salsa verde
Amish oatmeal: 12:14
1 1/2 cups oats
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup milk
3 tsp margarine
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
mix all ingredients, pour into pan and bake at 300 for 25 minutes until edges are brown.
Strawberry lemonade: 8:58
2 cups strawberries
11/2 inch ginger
1 cup water
1 cup lemon juice
add to saucepan and let simmer for 5 minutes, cool, blend and add 5 cups cold water.
serve
Strawberry refresher: 13:48
strawberries
ginger
mint
I don't have measurements I just added everything to my liking..blend, add 7up and mint for a garnish.
the blended mixture can be used as a concentrate.

Cook weeks are my favorite. So much more interesting and less monotonous than cleaning.

As a child in the 50's we used to have Strawberries larger than a large egg, and I loved them. They were so sweet and yummy. I live in Northern Oregon, USA. We had no religion and I am sorry for that.

My, my those strawberries look sooo good!! When my parents had a farm the bountiful garden was the best. Watermelon and strawberries were such a treat. And the other veggies make me sad for those today who have never eaten fresh from the garden and think the only food is McDonald's. Where we live we cover the strawberry plants with nets or else the Robin's eat them all. We went from harvest a handful to harvesting buckets.
We had that problem somethings we tried were painting rocks red or hanging old cds on sticks so they flash....it worked a little 😂
We have the same issues with bikes and skirts. We tied a knot in our shirts too. We bought so many bits or bobs for the bikes, but none of them worked.

I was just thinking I needed to work on my farming coop project. It wanted to watch one of your videos as I worked. We are a community of like minded people with a trading system
Giselle, thank you for sharing your cook week. Your plates give me ideas for my cooking. I cook suppers 5 days a week for a farming family, where I live. The 80 year old gentleman farmer is a fourth generation farmer. He still works 9 hours a day, six days a week, working a herd of black Angus cattle and a herd of dairy goats. His wife has early stage Alzheimer’s and so I do some caregiving especially for her, as well as the cooking. And I agree, the simplest thank you, second helpings and empty plates lets me know that the food was appreciated. Vielen Dank fuer deinen Vlog!

I wish I would live in a group like this. I live in the city now (grew up on a farm). I realized that I have FOOD INSECURITY and am always thinking about where or what my next meal will be and how to get it and prepare it and keep it preserved without wasting money (letting it go bad in the refrigerator or cooking too much and not wanting to eat it (right now I have some WAY too hot Indian masala something that I made with rice and have eating on it for two days and just can't anymore. I normally don't throw food out, but it's way too hot. I had tiny eggplants in it. So yummy.
But I realized while watching this that the variety of foods there is what a single person wouldn't so much get to have, as it's just too much for one person. So living in a community has a great benefit of a variety of foods and always have food - lots of work involved though, goodness, thank goodness you all have company doing all that work. LOL, I would be crying my eyes out if I were alone doing all that work, but you are lucky.
Okay, I am rambling and tired but the fireworks are neverending here and I can't sleep. Yes, it's 4h of July in 'the States.'

Oh m word. I used an umbrella hanger for the same thing, sort of. I used it to hang veggies that I just washed so they can drip dry (cilantro, parsley and small bundles of spinach and the like). I LOVE cilantro with mango and black beans. That's a whole meal right there.

You mentioned how hot it was...I heard there was a heatwave in the northwestern part of the U.S., I can imagine that it was hot where you were also. I love to hear about the weather and how you work around it and what you do to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter (the winter part would be fascinating as where I am at, we don't even need a heater or heavy jackets).
Keep a couple of skirts you fix just for bike riding. Make them look like patchwork.😊

This is funny, but I knew Canada Day was recent for you (so maybe that is why the fireworks display) but I am watching this on July 4th, which is our Independence Day and THESE were the only fireworks I have seen all day. I can hear them but can't see them and I have to stay home with my dog anyway.
