  • A very famous sweet dish made during Karthigai Month of the Tamil Calender, shown in an easy to make way by Mrs. Yogambal Sundar.
    INGREDIENTS:
    Raw rice 1 cup
    Jaggery 1 cup
    Grated coconut half cup
    Bananas - 2 (Optional)
    Wheat flour - 2 tbl spn
    Cardamom powder - 1/2 Tsp
    Ghee as required

    Mam I tried muruku as per your guidance but the oil was overflowing the kadai wht would be wrong mam I also used coconut oil as per your suggestion.

    Thanks mami for your detailed information about Nei appam
    I am living in Mumbai and we get Jaggery in bucket shape and not round jaggery like in South. Hence while making Nei appam or Vela- sheedai the appam breaks into several pieces. Kindly tell some tips to solve the problem

    Please advise me what can I replace of wheat flour to?
    For some of them has gluten allergies

      U can skip wheat flour...doesnt make any difference..u ferment it another hour.thats enough
