At Grand Prix Atlantic City in 2013, a friend and I saw LSV a few tables away and decided we should ask him to sign cards for us. We each quickly pulled a card from our trade binders and grabbed a marker. Luis was super friendly to oblige autographing my Baleful Strix, and then my friend handed Luis his Dream Halls to sign. I still remember Luis became visibly excited when he saw it and just said "Dream Halls, sweet!" It's nice to see Luis still getting just as excited about Dream Halls a decade later.
LSV’s ability to stone faced say he is reading the draft and drafting the hard way while he forces storm is insane and so funny. In the past couple drafts I’ve had to double take when he says something like that
LSV is an amazing host. To this day, he's been the only human being to ever have made me cry from laughter while playing magic (on that one Vintage Cube draft with BK)
You singlehandedly taught me how to storm in vintage cube. I have trophied multiple times, and even had a powered deck that had multiple turn 3 kills. Sincerely, ty. Storm is for the bold.
its pure gold. his face is like someone just left the bathroom hes been waiting in line to use for an hour or like someone just popped around the corner and IRL rick rolled him
That was fun to watch.. that deck was INSANE!!! Like LSV said... all it takes is just "one time walk and an ancestral recall.." to go from having hand of a couple lands and nothing to.. bam, combo off and win, just insane.
I'm honestly surprised that Dream Halls hasn't spiked in price with the most recent cube iteration. It maxed out around $85 at the height of the Covid buy-in, but it's back down to $30 and seems like one of the few Reserved List cards with a practical use.
Only LSV can decide on p1p2 to force an archetype (let's be real, he decided p1p1) and then get hooked up with basically the two best cards for it p2p1 and p3p1.
To beet shuffle effects, you can target them with brain freeze and let the storm copies resolve fist till they hit the shuffler. Then counter your brain freeze, recast it in response to the shuffle effect, and cast ancestral recall on them.
Yeah getting all 3 is the trick. Idk how many times I've assembled 2/3 and the deck just isn't very functional. It's definitely a risk to draft, but when it hits it really pays off. Best deck I ever drafted was a tinker storm deck that could tinker for LED to storm you out or just put blightsteel colossus into play.
@@iankane3732 I managed to get all 3 pieces only once and it was only at the beginning when the combo became available (previous iteration), sometimes certain pieces don't get opened at all, but I see it's a firstpick strategy
That's seriously a wet dream in draft, holy crap. And I wonder if the guy who passed it lost the game where he Ancestraled him for the win with brainfreeze lolol
Would it be possible to get a 2023 "draft guide" from LSV? I think it's strange on pack 2 to say "this is open". I'm not sure what that even means i think
@@kennyvaas1336 I think it's half lsv being silly and half breach led brain freeze being an absurd combo. If people are not 1st/2nd picking one of these cards it's decent to assume the others will be open aswell. Brain freeze is the most 'underpowered' card at face value of the three but lsv's last video is a good showcase of brain freeze+breach
@@jacobwilliams8885 A 3 card self fueling combo where 2/3 cards are sick by themselves and 1/3 cards is good in 90% of r/x decks except maybe mono red is hardly forcing storm. Led+breach+brain freeze is a deck by itself with literally 0 other storm cards. I agree he is biased towards it somewhat but he is definately not taking a piss and forcing storm
It's mostly a joke because he loves Storm, but it's not entirely an incorrect read. Brain Freeze, LED, and Underworld Breach are this weird triumvirate where decks either want all three or none of them. If you're able to snag one of them, your chances increase considerably to snag the others, because it's pretty rare for someone else to first pick one of the combo pieces without having any others.

i played him in a vintage tournament one time, he was casually using a beta ancestral in his deck lol.
I got him to sign my brain freeze for my cube at magic con Minneapolis, he was also excited and happy to oblige. Good dude

I almost spat my drink out when he started talking about drafting the hard way as he second picks a brain freeze. Incredible stuff.
Its really great but, maybe he's hand selecting the best drafts to upload??
@redrex0032 he has uploaded videos where he loses every match before.

No matter how many times it's uploaded, I'll never get bored of watching LSV playing solitaire 😂
Watching LSV get a boatload of power and then getting absolutely dumpstered while laughing manically makes for great content.
He apparently CAN keep getting away with it
At 1:05:13 the triggered ability from Brain Freeze says "2 spells cast before muntiacusmuntjak this turn"

P3P1 LED

I don't know who designed this iteration of the MTGO cube, but all decks seemed really cool and fun, kudos!
We need to clip 11:45 for the LSV / LR / MTG soundboard
my god that second game in the first match was absolutely insane, you must have cast time walk like 5 times over 2 turns??

Feels like breach freeze LED combo is unbeatable once you put it together. You assemble it all the time 🙂

I was already liking LSV and his content quite a bit, but then he made an obscure 90s Simpsons reference ❤❤
Can't believe Brain Freeze made it to pick 2. Wonder what else was in that pack. Or the table just undervalued it.
So this is how you have done so well at pro level magic. I hope to one day learn your ways

Am I just an idiot when it comes to storm, or does LSV take about 59 extra actions every time he's going off that he doesn't need to do to win?

When did they make a single player MTG game? 🤔
Better lucky than good.
