I'm convinced Hurley used Woj and the Laker offer as leverage, and Woj reported "sources" for the clicks. (h/t to LakersGuru on that.) None of the reporting - including yours (!) - was coming from the FO. This FO leaks selectively, and it wasn't leaking on Hurley. Almost all the reporting could be traced back to Woj who doesn't have an inside on Klutch or Lakers FO, and tilted to how awesome Hurley was. Have you seen how many ESPN hits has Woj done since he reported "out-of-the-blue" that Hurley was in the running? I suspect the Lakers FO knew Hurley wasn't serious - and he failed the leak test - so chose to put out a number that they could beat for the next guy. The Lakers FO has flaws and they could still screw up the coaching hire but IMO I wouldn't put the Hurley saga on them.
I want the tin foil hat to be a recurring segment on the show.

Any chance JJ was kept in the loop through the process and he was well aware he was gonna be their first choice if the Dan Hurley plan fell out? Is that why JJ said it'll all be addressed after Finals regarding Shams report?
Not sure how you can still blame Pelinka, at least in this particular case for the "underwhelming" contract offer. Ownership ultimately provides a budget to follow.

Lakers have lost their sheen. It’s the worst coaching job in the league: the most pressure with average to low comparative pay. Let’s just hope we’re not this cheap on the player market this summer.

What are u talking about? After taxes he’s making almost the same money staying with UCONN, where he also has job security and runs the whole show. That was a trash offer which I knew would be the case.
