  • Patagonia has always been on my bucket list and I start my adventure by doing a mini trekking activity on the world's most famous glacier : Perito Moreno glacier! This is followed by exploring a natural ice cave hidden within the glacier (wow!) and then driving down Patagonia's most scenic route to El Chalten- home of Mount Fitz Roy and some of the world's most incredible hikes. I attempt one of the hikes and find jaw dropping views as well as El Chalten's best kept secret! What did you think of 'Patagonia:Glacier Trek & El Chalten's Best Kept Secret' ? Comment below!

    Beautiful sights! I am happy to share I visited a place nearby on the Chilean side of the Patagonia called Torres del Paine, it looks very similar and also enjoyed the local fauna, instead of llamas, we saw wild Guanacos over there. I loved seeing your vlog and remembering my trip from a few years back.

    The Perito Moreno glacier has a special characteristic. You found it "broken", but with time, the glacier advaces and cuts the lake, forming a dam. With time the arm of the lake blocked by the glacier raises till it's able to rise the ice and stars to flow beneath the glacier, wearing it away till a big arch of ice remains till it also collapses. The breaking of the glacier happen every several years.
    I believe you saw guanacos, another southamerican camelid, not llamas.
    Patagonia is always windy, normally from the west, and can be very strong. In the plateaus of Patagonia all cars are parked towards the west, because if the front is toward east, the wind will break the doors when you open them, turning them past the maximum allowed.

    • @Kristinahouwer
      @Kristinahouwer  2 года назад +3

      Past Laguna capri, at the junction of the main trail , you need to go off the trail and walk for about 10 mins and the waterfall will be on the right side. Exact coordinates can be found online with a bit of research :)

    Hi! I loved your video! I’m heading there in a few days and trying to figure out what to pack… could you breakdown what your gear was for the ice trek? What kind of layers? I’ll be doing the big ice and want to make sure i have the proper layers 😅
    Also… where can i find those waterfall coordinates? 👀

    • @Kristinahouwer
      @Kristinahouwer  Год назад

      Hi Coralie , thanks for watching ! You’ll be going at the same time we went last year and it was COLD on the glacier , mostly because of the freezing wind which isn’t factored into the forecast and also we got no sun on the day we went. I hope you get better weather but I wish I wore more layers for that activity so I recommend a thermal base layer followed by a thick sweater , ski jacket and scarf/ hat/ gloves, warm ski trousers , thick socks and hiking boots (crampons for glacier hiking are simply attached onto your hiking boots, the company gives you those).
      For the mountain hike in el Chalten it was much warmer as you’re not as exposed to the freezing winds and also it was a sunny day when we went. For that I wore thick leggings, my hiking boots and a base layer top followed by a warm hoodie. For the secret waterfall, you need to turn right off the main trail and the coordinates for the turn off point are: 49°17'48"S 72°56'07"W . You’ll hear the falls before you see them :) it’s totally worth it ! Here’s a map to help you :

    Видимо, в Токио позаботились об иностранцах, а возможно и в других городах, где есть развитый туризм. Для меня Япония, весьма экзотическая страна. Одновременно высочайшая технологичность жизни и древние традиции. Другая раса, необычная культура, непонятный язык с невероятными иероглифами. Всё непривычно! 🤖 А с какой целью ты там присутствуешь и будет ли для нас, твоих постоянных подписчиков, познавательное видео?
