After being on lockdown for three months, this video is not helping my wanderlust 😭❤️ Going on a safari would be such a dream! Definitely going to add this to the bucket list!
Highly recommend Kenya and Tanzania for safaris! My favourite parks were the Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti, Masai Mara, and Amboseli (probably in that order)
USD is their preference. When I was Tanzania in 2018, we were still able to exchange CAD at the money changer. In 2019, it was USD or Euros. They also prefer crisp new bills.
I was in Ghana a few years ago and they prefer US $ and €, they have more trust in those currencies than in their local one. Having small bills really matters, locals are afraid that they would not get rid of the big bills on the local markets anymore and they are not used to or might not have a bank nearby to exchange
I was in Kenya and Tanzania in July! Trip of a lifetime and loved every minute of it! You want a zoom camera! Someone on my trip just brought an iPhone..not a good idea. Invest in a camera for a trip this big! Worth it!!!
Only been on a wildlife safari in Alaska, but it really wasn't a vacation. I was on a production crew that travelled all over the Denali National Park. A lot of your tips and tricks still holds true though.
Could you make a video on how to plan a safari? How did you find a service to take you on safari? Accommodations? Are there any services you recommend?
we can help you plan a Safari-we are in East Africa and do hundreds of them.We pick you up right from the airport-take you to your hotel-tour the city and start the safari the following day.Interested? Jambo Tropicana
Always a challenge when traveling to pack all your gear. Nice how you pointer out the essentials to bring and all of the other good tips. Thanks for the vid
Excellent video as always Nadine. Regarding money (at least at the banks in Kenya): we found the banks liked only crisp U.S. Dollars. If the bill was torn in any way or well worn, they would not exchange or accept it for some reason. And I’d love to have the lens y’all were using.
Hey Nadine, there are special space holders for binoculars which hold your phone in place and in the right distance to the eye piece. That way you can easily use them as a Tele lens. Please be aware that binocular lenses (at least when you don't have a Swarovski or Zeiss) are not even close to camera lenses so the photos are usually not as sharp and will have a lot of color fringing.
I liked how you said wear whatever color you want for the safari as you are going to be inside the vehicle 😊. I have been wondering the same 😅+ I don't want every photo in boring colors 😅
Thank you for posting this video. Lockdown has been depressing but I've been living vicariously through all these travel vlogs on YT-it's an escape. At least i can spend this time to save up for the next big trip until boarders open up again!
thank you for these tips!!! i recently went on a trip to south africa - safari in winter and this was super useful! I made my own vid for the packing list I had in the end :)
nice informative video.. congrats on engagement..wish you eternal happiness and planning for this year if it happens. nice living room...looks comfy and cozy.... another thing on the camera phone zoom is attachment zoom lens.. becoming popular with smartphones and it just clips onto the top and works well. attachment can go as high as 18x...continue the great work, stay safe!
hey nadine, are short shorts and shoulderless shirts no problem in east african countries from a cultural perspective or would you still wear more modest clothes in public places outside of tourist attractions?

Hello Nadine! Greetings from Vietnam! Just found your channel - love it a lot!!! Wishing and sending you good Nadine!!! ✨💓😇
I haven't been on an African safari, but kind of a North American style one in West Virginia. The vehicles setup was much the same and Dramamine (or car sickness equivalent) is a must. I don't get car sick myself but expected it and I was passing it out like candy. I would think, judging by the videos of those vehicles you were in, the same would apply. Also, you use Marmot rain gear. Would you suggest it over others or what would you recommend?
Go look up travel playlist part 1,2,3,4, and 5, travel playlists should pop up. Hey Nadine is included in the playlists. Part 6 should be coming out soon. 😀
So if you did this and kilimanjaro trip at the same time and on kilimanjaro video you said you were able to leave your safari stuff in the hotel then where did you leave your hiking stuff during safari?
I realize this is an older video and hopefully you'll reply, but all the guidelines I've read say that the baggage limit is 33pds INCLUDING carry-on/camera gear. My camera gear alone is nearly 16pds on it's own. Did you find that most airlines allowed 33pds PLUS carry on?
This is very helpful! I have not been on a safari before, but I really want to go on one someday! I might be going on one in Kruger National Park in South Africa depending if my trip to South Africa late this year still happens in 2020. I'll be curious how different and similar that will be to one in Kenya and Tanzania.
I imagine Kenya and Tanzania have a much more raw experience to it. Kruger tends to accommodate for tourists and so depending on where you enter and how far into the reserve you go, your costs and experience vary a lot.
Thank you for your thoughtful packing tips. I hope to put them to use some day. ✈ Also it is best to not wear animal prints on safari, or the zoo. Dressing like diner around lions could go badly. 😖
Hey Nadine that is so wild you went to East Africa. I've always wanted to explore Africa it's such a foreign land to me! Was it scary being so close to the exotic animals during the Safari? I found you from Brett Conti's collab with you and I look forward to watching your new videos. Just subbbed!
On the water bottle front speaking as someone who dumps water on herself not moving. I know MEC sells inserts for the Nalgene that makes the wide mouth smaller.
Thank you for the video. Super informative. ❤ My hubz and I are planning an African trip. For safari we have Botswana in mind. For the hike: Kili. And to relax on the beach: Seychelles or Mozambique.
Hey Nadine, wait, whaaaa? You un-ceremoniously retired your ubiquitous LONDON DRUGS orange 1st aid kit 😢? What happened? That thing has been in every packing video that I can remember, lol. Please give us an update; perhaps make an updated 1st Aid Kit video with links to products.
@@heynadine Yes, abso-first aid-lutely!!! Please do. I had mirrored mine to yours since about 8 years ago. Now I feel like I need an update. Did you at least give the old one a proper burial? 😝

Going on Safari to Southern Africa for the first time and I feel a little more confident with packing now! Thank you 🙏🏽

Right?! This looks SO amazing😍❤️
Highly recommend Kenya and Tanzania for safaris! My favourite parks were the Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti, Masai Mara, and Amboseli (probably in that order)
:) lots of time to start planning!
That's a really interesting tip about the cash, I was surprised to hear that they prefer USD! Awesome video and thanks for the tips!
us too!! we didn't expect it as much either, we were told to bring USD but nothing about smaller bills

That sounds amazing! How was that experience??
that would be a really cool experience for sure!
@@isabellenatalya It was awe-inspiring even for someone who grew up there. Watch the film Wildlike to see what we experienced.
Joe Tapangco Sounds amazing! Denali has been a dream for me since reading into the wild ! I’ll definitely give it a watch!

What a great video! The binoculars part is a good idea. Thanks for this!
:) glad you enjoyed!
Y A S, I don't know why I love packing videos so much but this is exactly the content I needed today Nadine, thaaank you
Ahhhh what a dream to have a zoom lens like that!! 👌
It was SO nice having that lens on our safari! It was a sad day when we had to give it back 😭
I love taking shots through binoculars! Sure they're not as nice but unique! Besides your packing tips that's another great takeaway here 👏
:) it's helpful if you don't have a big lens for sure!

The red soul shoes I can relate to. I live on p.e.i
I came here after watching a staple video where you did a inkjet vs laser printer tutorial. Awesome 😎
Over here using this quarantine time as trip planning time 😅

Very helpful. Going in January

This video was it shot in 4K or 1080?
And also did you do any extended videos yet on your camera gear you took with you on your safari trip?
So if you did this and kilimanjaro trip at the same time and on kilimanjaro video you said you were able to leave your safari stuff in the hotel then where did you leave your hiking stuff during safari?

Looks like a fab adventure. Is it not necessary to be covered and protected when out in the wild. Shorts? Rather than long pants? Insect
Bites?
Hi! Do u have a link for the bottle with the filter, please?

Such great information
What make was that yellow duffle and where did you get it
Do you have any recommendations on hiking shoes?
Question for all longterm travelers! When you go on long trips, like several months at a time, what do you do about prescription meds?
Talk with your doctor. Some meds you can get a large supply of. Some you may be able to find wherever you travel.
Thank you for your thoughtful packing tips. I hope to put them to use some day. ✈
Also it is best to not wear animal prints on safari, or the zoo. Dressing like diner around lions could go badly. 😖
I got a similar bag ! Bright yellow by Columbia. LOL

Can you please let me know the size of your bag? How many litters? Thank you!
Hi ! Did you need to get a yellow fever vaccine to travel from Kenya to Tanzania?
yes I did!
Why didn't you get one of the splash guards?
Pocket knife. Like a Swiss Army or Leatherman type multitool.
On the water bottle front speaking as someone who dumps water on herself not moving. I know MEC sells inserts for the Nalgene that makes the wide mouth smaller.
Thank you! I wish we knew about that before our Africa trip
Nalgene water bottles (the plastic wide mouth) should have inserts to make the wide mouth smaller and not have it spill all over you!
Where are those brown pants from?
Hello From Kenya
Love from karachi 😍😍😍😍
_ I did not think that it was possible to use the binocular like this !
