Great tips, thanks.
Tip for the freezing water line: blow the water back into the bladder after each time you drink.
I am Tanzanian and just summited Kilimanjaro, thank you so much for your videos, they have really helped me out
Just added climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to my bucket list thanks to your videos!
AMAZING story
@@tellyourstoryIII Did you do it? :D
35 minutes? Yay!!! Love you, love your channel and videos! Thanks for another great distraction from our current realities! I smile every time you say “bag”. I don’t want this to come across negatively, so please please don’t think I am. I get confused with the new camera angles. When it’s a side view of you talking to another camera. 🤔. Stay safe, stay healthy. Happy Earth Day 🌍 ❤️
I love these kinds of videos to inform people and prep us for these type of fun activities when traveling! Thank you for sharing all of this information, with all the details. I also appreciate when you talk about the ethical and sustainable options that we should keep in our minds when doing these types of activities (you mention these in the comments!).
I have no intention to hike a major mountain (some chronic health issues would make that very dangerous) but I sure do love watching Nadine pack
I can definitely recommend the electrolytes. I completely lost all appetite, and hardly ate anything for the 6 days, but somehow still made it to the to the top
yessss I needed this and agree with ya
I really appreciate you going over your clothes. Very helpful as I plan my hike to Kilimanjaro in a couple of years! When I hiked Mt. Fuji over a decade ago during a night hike the best advice I received was to bring an extra set of gloves because people always lose one! And sure enough, I did--with the high altitude--lightheadedness and the dark things happen!
It's rare that I can watch a video all the way to the end but I had no problem here. Loved seeing the clips of you using and wearing the gear while on hike
Loved this series so much! Definitely giving me inspiration for post quarantine adventures! Thanks for sharing ❤️
yup i agree, exactly what i was thinking too!
Thank you for the well thought out & extensive packing video. I’d love to to hike Kilimanjaro one day!
I love your packing videos since ever and this one is amazing! All the best for you always! Stay safe
Hey, Nadine! I just returned from a successful sumit of Kilimanjaro. Your videos were the best resources for information and so accurate compared to other RUclipsrs. I'm also amazed that you filmed so much during the trek. We were so exhausted and barely had time to take photos. Thank you for the content!!
this is the most helpful video about what to pack for this kind of hike tbh
Great info and suggestions! Me and my lady plan on backpacking and vlogging our journey, this helped! appreciate the efforts. take care!
I've been binging all your videos and I would LOVE to see y'all do another summit! x
Thank you so much for this video. I’m climbing Kilimanjaro in August and this was very informative!
Wow, that is a lot of gear for the hike up to the top! Thanks for the video. If I ever decide to climb it one day, this video will be really helpful!
Definitely a poncho! I had similar issues when hiking the inca trail
This has helped me out so much!! Thank you sooo much for sharing!! Climbing Kilimanjaro next month!
Lovely video Nadie, was at Kilimanjaro last year
Thank you so much 😊. Very interesting video!
Thank you so so much for this detailed video! I'm planning to climb Kilimanjaro and this is the video I needed
Thanks for sharing all that info that is really helpful. I hope to take the trip in Aug. 2022
I'm heading off to Kili on the Shira route in August and this was extremely helpful! Thanks so much!
Great gear rundown! I've would also recommended a camp light/lantern for your tent since it so much more convenient than a headlamp.
Good point!
Good helpful advice Nadine 👍
Some really clever ideas!! Saved to reference later... I'd like to do the smaller mountain nearby first, and Kili in two years!
Great video guys! Thanks a ton! :)
This video gave me flashbacks to my time in the Army (US). And yes, ponchos are so handy when trekking around. The chemical suits were the warmest thing, and guys would wear them at night. Some guys even wore pantyhose.
Great video from your fellow world explorers here in New Zealand
Fantastic video, thank you!
congratulations on such a huge accomplishment! As well as the Engagement!!:))
Yayyyyy i was waiting for a new video from you ❤ hope youre having a great day
yay! yes I am, hope you are as well!
Wow!!! This is awesome
Thank you for making this video
Still very much enjoying your Kilimanjaro series. Great stuff and very informative 👍🏻🏔. Hope to get there soon. In the meantime I continue to catch up with uploading my travel vlogs from Saudi Arabia and Kenya...❤️❤️🌴
Thank you for making this! I was supposed to climb in May but we have to postpone for at least a year due to Covid. Seeing your videos keeps me excited!!
you're welcome ...
Hey Nadine! Thank you for this video! I hope to use it in the future. For next year, I am planning a trip to Peru. Do you have a packing guide video to Machu Picchu?
Thank you for sharing your experience! I has made me believe the I can do it too! My sister and I have now planed that we will do it one day because of this! Also really helpful with the videos about packing and the information video. Congratulation with the engagement! What does others do when the go to the toilet when they hike?
so happy you are enjoying all the info videos!! will answer the toilet question in the Q&A :)
Excellent video!
Want to climb Kilimanjaro in a few years! This is so helpful 😍
you're really welcome !
This is so helpful
Hi Nadine, thank you for sharing that this video ! Our team is preparing the ascent of Kilimanjaro for 2022 :D
Amazing, thank you
I love all these videos! My sister and I have wanted to do the hike for ages and these are so informative :) My question would be: what is one thing that you wish you knew before hiking it/one piece of advice you wish you had received?
I would recommend Atlas Packs for the day pack and camera needs.
great info ........tnx for posting............
Which version of the Patagonia puff do you have? Congrats on summitting and the engagement!!
Gratitude 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
Love it my friend thanks for sharing like
What exactly did you put in your day bag? Great video!
I was curious how you did with your batteries. I'm glad you answered that. I am actually looking into rain gear now for my use. If I had good rain gear there are a lot of outdoor things to do. I noticed you used the Marmot brand. Are you happy with that brand?
Loved the video!! How big of a daypack would you recommend for kids?
I'm hopefully going to be doing the inca trail when things are less crazy, I would assume I need this kind of stuff, just less of it as it's a much easier trail?
Catching up from the Philippines! :) 🌴
How about the tent, sleeping bag and mat? Maybe you rented it but good to know if a person bring own things to sleep. Well it is a good video to get some information. Thx.
Always wanted to do this. Not sure if i got the legs for it ;)
my questions would be what did you put in your day bag other than your meds and the camera and where did you get the two liter bladder with the pipe:)
Lots of love
To keep your hydration line from freezing you can blow the water back into bladder. Also works to keep the water from getting hot during the summer.
yes but, you have 50% less oxygen, and just breathing takes alot of work, so it's quite the effort to blow back the water
@@heynadine Good point. I didn't think about that. I wonder if just holding the line up over your head with the bite valve open would allow the water to drain back into the bag... I guess I have some experimenting to do!
Did you have your own liners for sleeping bags or did you just go with the flow 😁
How did peeing or pooping work while hiking? Just move away from the group?
Did you wear the foot warmer insoles inside your socks or just lining your shoes?
What petzl lamp did you use? And what battery pack for your phone etc? 🥰
Hey Nadine! Which national park did you visit after the hike?
Question for the Q&A: I saw you mention the "bathroom" situation in this and another video. Can you give more detail about that "bathroom" at camp and when hiking? Was the bathroom at camp actually private/only for you two? Also, when hiking, do you take breaks where you can go pee in the woods? With so much hiking/drinking water, did you have to "go" often when hiking? Thanks!!!!
Do you cone fro a hot climate? I climb in the scotrish munros during the winter. Don't need anything neat that many layers
How old do you have to be to climb the mountain?
you mentioned you also did safaris before, we are looking to do that as well in addition to stopping at Zanzibar, were these the only two bags each of you brought for the entire trip or did you bring anything additional? I am assuming you had to check the duffle as well? Also who did you book with to do the combo?
What camera is best for me to get?I don't anything about cameras but i need one that will take great photos
Great video! Did you wear trail runners or hiking boots? Waterproof?
which lens for the sony? going in october
I was meant to climb Kili last year! However during training I got into an accident and had to have emergency surgery which obviously meant I couldn’t do the climb anymore x Still very much hoping to do it in the future though !!
Sorry to hear that. You will. Hope your feeling better.
I Follow u From Indonesia 🇲🇨
greetings from Indonesia 🇲🇨❤
I'm from Indonesia 🇲🇨 too
@@fansinstagram2358 travel and adventure is indeed the coolest especially climbing the mountain once it arrives to be sure to be satisfied even though climbing to the top of the mountain is quite difficult.
@@fansanime1203 yeah that's for sure
What sort of pants did you pack and how many? I'm guessing sports like pants. I suffer alot with cystitis and concerned how I would stay clean and prevent it. I really want to plan this trip for the future but that is my main concern. Hopefully I would get some antibiotics from the doctor to pack as well as cystitis sachets. Any other useful tips?
Did you pack a sleeping pad? Or do they provide one?
Hi, what's the brand of your power bank?
Hi 2 questions! what is the brand or where did you get your insulated vest? I see your fleece hoodie is Patagonia , where did you get it?
what was your brand of sunglasses?
QUESTIONS!
- As a lady, how did bathroom breaks go through out the day as you were hiking. You’ve stated in your videos about having to use the bathroom multiple times through out the hike due to how much water you’re consuming.
- In your group, did you have anyone traveling alone? If so, did they have their own tent or did they have to share? Do you by any chance know what KA’s policy is on that?
- Last One! Could you please please please type out the brands of ALL the clothes you bought/invested in for the trip? I would love to start stocking up now even if I’m 2 years out from my trip! haha
Thank you for the AWESOME video!
Brands we used and like:
Merino wool shirts/baselayers - Smartwool, Icebreaker
Rain gear - Marmot, Arc'teryx, Rab (gore-tex is the best)
Insulated jackets/fleeces - Patagonia, Arc'teryx
Pants/shirts/clothing - Kühl, Arc'teryx, Marmot
Hiking boots - Merrell, Keen
As far as backpacks go, Osprey and Deuter make some of the best.
There are lots of other great brands, but some of these were picked over other options because of the styles and how well they fit us.
Hope this helps :)
Matt Ofstie thank you so so much!!!!
Also as a lady, I had a friend recommend a hiking skirt (kilt). Gives you a little curtain of privacy when doing your business.
What lens did you bring?
What month did you go? Thanks for the vid x
Did anyone in your group, or other groups, recognize you on Kilimanjaro? Or other trips?
This video is so long, I don't have time to watch it all now, but I promise I will catch up tomorrow.
Was there anyone in your group with asthma? Did you take headphones to listen to music on your climb?
Hi, just got back from my climb. Great video. Unrelated question to the packing, what are you using to record your audio? It sounds really good
Thanks! We use a Rode VideoMic NTG and a Rode VideoMicro on our 2 cameras. I believe we used the NTG for this video and mounted it on a boom
What about the sleeping bag ?
What airport did you fly into?
Thanks so much! What did you use for under your sleeping bag?
I'm also wondering if they had an inflatable mat. My company has for hire but it is 2kg of my luggage allowance and 2kg is precious!
HI Nadine, I hope this note finds you well - I am new to your page, as I was searching for info on my pending Kili climb in Aug and love your journey on Kili. And, congrats on the baby - hope all is going fantastic! Best moment of my life! That said, I am loving your packing vid, and wonder if you could help me translate. You mentioned for your shirts - Marina Will? I am just not sure what that line of gear is. And, did I notice that your puff jacket was patigonia. I like having a referece so and brands you could share that I could check out would be great for your clothing. Again, congrats! Debbie
Exciting! Which route are you climbing?
Merino Wool is what I was talking about regarding the shirts. It's a great material for hiking clothes as it breathes well, regulates temperature, and it doesn't hold body odor as bad as other materials.
Patagonia is a brand I love. Really good quality stuff. Arc'teryx, Icebreaker and Marmot are other brands that I'm familiar with and enjoy their stuff. There are other good brands, but those are the first ones that come to mind that I'm most familiar with. Hope this helps!
@@heynadine HI Nadine! Thanks so much for your response. I am so excited - we are taking the Lemosho Route, so it will be an 8 day climb. I am a cancer survivor and have partnered with the american cancer society to raise awareness and fundraising. That said, we are team Determination and our climb it starts the 8th! I am for sure checking the MW line out, I'll keep you posted! Thank you so much!
That sounds amazing Debbie! Incredible that you're doing it for such a good cause.
Lemosho 8 day is a super good choice. It should give your group lots of time to acclimatize to the elevation. Not to mention it's very scenic and less intense than some other routes.
Best of luck!
for Q&A: did you film the scratching of you scratch-off world travel map? 😉🌍
How big was your day back?
Hi! Sorry if I missed it but how many pairs of socks did you bring? and what kind of socks (ex. light hiking socks for the beginning but wool for summit, etc.? )
Four pairs of socks, twi light hiking socks, one medium, one super thick warm Alpine one.
Ok I have a TRAVEL MEDS question.
I travel to Europe plenty & never bring all my pharmacy bottles. I take PICS of the bottles in case issue.
** DID YOU encounter anyone checking meds for script bottles or heard of this happening?? Makes a big difference if I have to carry all them in my daypack as my plane carry on. Thanks so much:)
And now you are all set for the next mountain! I'm really thirsty for some reason? :)
I really love you channel! I hope that one day my channel will be as good quality as yours ❤️
it will! just keep working hard and you'll get there!
These packing videos are so helpful Nadine I love to hike especially in my home state of Tasmania (check out the videos on my RUclips channel!) - and new gear tips is always a good thing 👍🏼👍🏼
Is that a Frigidaire CFMV1645TS? Just got one of those bad boys, myself.
Actually it's a Samsung ME18H704SFS/AC. Not a bad unit, but I think the CFMV1645TS was probably the better choice.
@@mattofstie9298 it's alright, we had the previous model and it died after 3 years. Only got it again because of dimensions. Congrats on the engagement!
Do they provide the food
Yes they provide all the food, but most people brought a few additional snacks to have while hiking.
