WE BRING A 200 HOUR KTM BACK TO LIFE! We got a little throttle happy with our 2023 KTM 300 XC-W test bike. To our surprise we managed to log almost 200 hours (191 to be exact) of trail time on the completely stock unit in about a seven month timespan. We still can’t believe it but all those missed deadlines make sense now. We teamed up with AEO Powersports, REP Suspension, Race Winning Brands, Bulletproof Designs and a host of other industry leading companies to completely rebuild this 2023 KTM300XC-W. Ray Rodden from Kinetic Ride Company was the man behind the wrenches on this project. Usually when we start a build the bike is torn apart, assessed and then the decisions are made what stays and what goes. With this build because of the sheer amount of time on the bike pretty much all the moving and wear parts were replaced except for the actual transmission gears. Bulletproof Designs offers a wide variety of items available in the that department. We installed their billet aluminum radiator guards, chain adjusters, rear chain guide swingarm mount guard and an upgraded set of wheels that replaced the used up stock units. We went with a full Rekluse Core Manual clutch that features their Torque-Drive technology instead of the full auto version because we liked the OEM clutch action but wanted a little more adjustability and positive traction to the rear wheel. The engine received some additional bling with a Specbolt Nickel Wurks hardware kit.The most advanced triple clamps you can buy; the Luxon Gen3 clamps are complete works of art developed with top racers using advanced engineering techniques unique to the motocross industry. Lighter and stronger than stock they feature adjustable offset and adjustable stiffness to fine tune your ride. Bores are finish machined from the 7075-T6 aluminum after anodize ensuring precise alignment and eliminating slippage.

some guys are getting 600+ hours out of a bottom end and 4 top end rebuilds before a total engine rebuild ... 191 hours is 1 top end rebuild for some single trail guys..

Agreed. For whatever reason the trails I ride, there’s KTM literally everywhere including in my group, majority are 250/300s. I don’t know a single bike that did a top end before 150 hrs. And they ran strong when they got torn down. There’s a 2019 250 xcw in the fleet with 600 hrs on the bottom end. 2 top ends done. I love my 23 250 xcw. Best dirt bike engine I’ve rode overall.

      @@corvette_jake7225factory parts or aftermarket?
I've seen some shady single ring "race pistons" that are dirt cheap and wear out quick.
Sadly my local dealer tried to sell me aftermarket crap for more than I could order factory stuff online😢

My 96 husky 360 has had at least 8 pistons and never had the bottom end done.
That said, if I could buy the parts I'd do it. I'm just gambling on the crank not coming apart every ride. 😢

190 hours on a KTM is far from clapped out but that is way too long to go for a basic suspension service.

Thanks for checking it out. Well...this is Travis Fant (video editor)..I use the Acerbis full coverage on my KTM 500 dual sport. Works great. I put it in some really brutal stuff actually over the weekend and it helps slide over huge logs/rocks. Just a personal rec from a track/offroad guy =)
