I remember those days and people saying Rancid 'sold out' and hopped on the ska wagon. Which is funny, since both Tim and Matt were in Op Ivy and probably responsible for inspiring half the ska bands that existed at that time. Most of those bands sailed off once the ska situation died down and yet, here's Rancid still making albums and touring like they did since day one.
What hall of fame? Rock n Roll HOF? Being in that fucking thing is dope. Whoops, I meant it's for dopes. Such a rebellious thing, a HOF fame rockers and punks.
Rancid becoming popular is what introduced me to the world of punk as a kid. This resulted in me being able to dig deeper into punk rock. Thank you Rancid for being popular and introducing me into the world of punk!
I listen to them when I was 16. Now I have 40 and I still listen to them and sometimes i do with my 2yo daughter and she loves them. This is because Rancid is an absolutely stunning band that digs deep in your roots and gives you that street vibe, that never surrender vibe that works for generations. FU haters, long live to Rancid.
F the Critics!! Rancid Rules!!! I finally had a chance to see them at the Warfield about 5 years after being a life long fan! They absolutely tore the Roof off that place! Amazing show!! I'd love to see them again and it would be a bonus if Social D joined them so I can finally see them too!!
I'm old enough to remember when "and out come the wolves" was compared to "London calling" like it was a bad thing. I'm also old enough to remember why being compared to the Clash was a great thing.
Yep, I went to a well to do school in the 90s in a suburb on the east coast. The so-called punks there were always trashing the sellout bands and acting like they got in on the ground floor/early days of the bands with roots 3000 miles away. Very silly now in hindsight. I don't blame a band for selling out. Got to strike when the iron is hot and set yourself up for the future. I often wonder how many bands out there missed opportunities because they wanted to stick to their morals and are now out of music and barely scraping by.
"You're entitled to your own opinions not your own facts" Lars is that dude 👍 . I caught endless amounts of shit wearing my rancid shirt taking metro transit to school in early-mid 90's
Rancid writes great music, and they put in all the work for the success they have achieved. That kind of success has to be earned to be deserved. Don't be jealous...
On the 3rd of June I'll be witnessing them in Ljubljana (Slovenia) for the very first time. One day after their new album comes out....I don't even have to tell you, what does that mean to a 43 year old youngster, who's gonna dance the shit out of himself at the show. They are Rancid and I'm in love...
@Dan Smith Hey! Like I said...I danced the night away! It was awesome! Beers were flying, crowd was surfin', people were singing...magic! It felt like it was 1995 again! They played Dead bodies, I wanna riot and (my favourite) St. Mary...boom! I've missed some of their ska repertoar (Evil's my friend would eject me into stratosphere), but overall, they played 27 songs. You know there's always a desire for more, but it was epic and I would love to do it again...respect!
Back in the day, the only guy who could talk like he was on the internet IRL was the guy who knew MMA and BJJ. If you think you're gonna step to someone who'll knock you out before you can even say "Please don't speak to me like that" then you're in for a life lesson
I mean, I dislike songs such as red hot moon or fall back down but those are the type of songs that made them rich so it's okay. Majority of their songs kick ass, Life Won't Wait is something different, it's brilliant, something you haven't heard before and probably never will, so as Rancid 2000.
They got popular because of their raw talent. My wife is from Taiwan and has never heard this type of music before. She even admits they are very talented and write some kick-ass songs!
Yea that's it. They went to work and good shows. And they were on the right side of the equation with all that controversy so God Has them be more authentic than other really good bands on major. Pennywise too.
I always said it did not matter It kinda does Be the real thing and be your own person. Be good Majors are not set up to allow for that really. Irrelevant now.
Any Rancid fan who's listened to every song on every album knows Ranc has always had their own style theyve always stuck to their style and out of the 20+ songs on each of their 9 studio albums, but their solo stuff, you're talking out of 200+ songs 1 or 2 have been played on the radiom that's 1-2%!!!!! Get a fuckin life. I've been a fan since 1995 and have never heard anyone call them sellouts
THE QUESTION IS NOT SELLING, BUT THAT THE MARKET TODAY, WHICH WANT OR VALUE OTHER MUSICAL STYLES, YOU CAN'T LOSE SPACE WHEN YOU HAVE THE OPPORTINITY, AND ANYONE WHO IS A REAL FAN WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THEM TO ENJOY THE SOUND AND GO TO THE SHOWS AND FUCK IF THE MARKET. FA WHO IS A FAN OF THIS BAND AND BY THE SOUND OF THE GUYS, I'VE BEEN WATCHING SINCE I WAS 5 YEARS OLD TODAY I'M 31 AND STILL CONTINUE LISTENING DESPITE NEVER HAVING HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO A SHOW, REGARDLESS OF MARKET OR NON-RANCID WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY MIND LIFE

Last one to die
People who say that are judging based on their own narratives. They know nothing.
Did Rancid 2000 not redeem them to punk again? That said, Life wont wait is one of my favs
I still get pumped every time I play their Music
Tim , Lars , Matt put them in the Hall of Fame
What hall of fame? Rock n Roll HOF? Being in that fucking thing is dope. Whoops, I meant it's for dopes. Such a rebellious thing, a HOF fame rockers and punks.
They should be, Tim alone would be good going in solo too. Punk is so damn overlooked it’s sad.
How is Eminem in the hall and Rancid isn't?
@@ph4ntomsoldier Eminem is rock. Rancid is not. Rancid is punk. That’s not rock.
"Entitled to your own opinions not your own facts"
That needed to be said now more than ever! Thanks Lars...
Seriously… there’s right and wrong
Rancid becoming popular is what introduced me to the world of punk as a kid. This resulted in me being able to dig deeper into punk rock. Thank you Rancid for being popular and introducing me into the world of punk!
I found them as a 9yr old when the video for Salvation came on MTV. One of the few things MTV was good for.
I listen to them when I was 16. Now I have 40 and I still listen to them and sometimes i do with my 2yo daughter and she loves them. This is because Rancid is an absolutely stunning band that digs deep in your roots and gives you that street vibe, that never surrender vibe that works for generations. I am 40 too. I just listened and out come the wolves 4 times in a row during my 2.5 hour road trip yesterday!
I just saw them and took my kid. We had the best time
I have an alt country band and we cover some Rancid tunes at shows. Good songs, man...that's what matters.
One of the best story telling bands in the last 40 yrs
Such a humble fn real dude !
Ruby Soho is now a wrestlers theme song.
Rancid have earned everything. They are legends.
BEST SONGS of the genre, era, decade. Nothing beat Rancid in the 90s
F the Critics!!
Rancid Rules!!!

too!!
I knew people that went to their shows to heckle them. Shit was rough back then.
I'm old enough to remember when "and out come the wolves" was compared to "London calling" like it was a bad thing. I'm also old enough to remember why being compared to the Clash was a great thing.

Can't wait to see 'em at Manchester in June.
A guy at a party started giving me sh!t about my Rancid shirt. I said "don't f*cking question my credibility"
Rancid is one of the few bands which has not become a sellout
On the 3rd of June I'll be witnessing them in Ljubljana (Slovenia) for the very first time. One day after their new album comes out....I don't even have to tell you, what does that mean to a 43 year old youngster, who's gonna dance the shit out of himself at the show. Yesterday they were amazing in rimini
@Dan Smith Hey! Like I said...I danced the night away! It was awesome! Beers were flying, crowd was surfin', people were singing...magic! It felt like it was 1995 again! That whole album is the best rancid song
St.Mary
I can't change your mind, but there are so many great Rancid songs, I struggle picking one favorite
Love Lars' t-shirt!
Man, this is the triple truth, thank you Lars. People are stupid, leave them in the dust.

I remember when fans were freaking out when WB was going to distribute "Indestructible".
It's not over on tv.

Growing up poor is horrible, being a poor adult is absolutely horrible.
Easy to hate on someone when they travel the world playing punk music to the people of the world bringing joy and tears to so many🙄
Yea that's it. They went to work and good shows.
And they were on the right side of the equation with all that controversy so God Has them be more authentic than other really good bands on major. Pennywise too.
I always said it did not matter
It kinda does
Be the real thing and be your own person. Be good
Majors are not set up to allow for that really. Irrelevant now.

I guess there's reasons for the hate don't come from nowhere. boring
Defiance [the street punk band from Portland]shit all over rancid in their song "rip off" for am example.
He's so lucid. Disappointed...

Agree with everything you said, except I’ve heard them called sellouts so many times and it’s dumb as fuck. Best band ever.
