The moly is also needed for the Sky Active G engines to get their rated fuel economy; people and dealers not putting the proper Mazda high moly or equivalent oil in is most likely the cause for fuel economy complaints in my opinion. For the models with the turbo SAG, 5-6K on oil depending on your driving. Mazda spec is 5K, I tried to push past 6K but I didn't like the amount of silica I was seeing on the UOA. The oil was in good condition otherwise. My thoughts are, oil is cheap engines aren't, so 5k is my personnel interval. I drive in very dusty environments which most likely accounts for the higher silica. NA models can go out to 7k no problem with a high end Euro spec oil like I recommended. If standard Syn like Mobile 1 is all that's available, back off to 5K like Mazda says. Wife's CX30 gets great UOAs with the TRIAX Euro 0w20 with 7K intervals, it toasted Mobile 1 by 6K and Pennzoil Ultra didn't fair much better, by toasted I mean oil was shot I was really surprised, I suspect this is because they have limited Moly in their additive packages. 2nd. The the 6 speed transmissions on these cars are actually really hard on their fluid. I did the pan drain and re-fill at 45k, I believe this is really close to Mazda's recommended interval but im not sure. In hind site, I would have done this at 30K. Its 3.5quarts just fyi, this drain and fill swaps out about 30% of the total fluid, do this drain and fill procedure when you change the engine oil 3 times to swap out about 90% of the fluid and your good for another 30-40K. After that I recommend doing a pan drop and changing the filter too. BIG ATTENTION!!!! Please Be carful!!! with the fluid choice, DON'T buy multi vehicle ATF like the auto parts store guy will most likely recommend, our 6 speeds are actually rather picky, Mazda FZ fluid is always a safe choice, its OE, but expensive. Ravenol, and Triax both make alternates. I went with The Triax Euro ATF, it was recommended by their tech support and meets all Mazda specs, Wife immediately reported better shifts and a slight bump in MPG. She regularly sees 31mpg up from 30 now.. 3rd. As for the Diff and transfer case, I actually believe Mazda's rating of "lifetime unless the diff was submerged". I changed both the diff and transfer case in my Turbo 3 at 40K just for warm and fuzzies, the used fluid was golden clear and the UOA on it showed it was completely fine with limited metal contamination. The Mazda SG1 Hypoid gear oil or equivalent MUST be used. Its a full syn 75W80 which is a bit odd weight and you'll find this out when searching for it. Again Ravenol and Triax to the rescue, they both make alternatives that are a little cheaper and are as good or better. Again I went with the Triax just because I have had great luck with their stuff thus far. Their Euro Transfer case oil is what was recommended. From my testing, the Mazda SG1 hypoid oil is very stout gear oil and only thing bad about it is the price. Obviously Mazda felt the need to run such a high end gear oil for a reason, don't skimp out. FYI you'll only need 1 quart to do both the transfer case and rear diff, about a half quart in each. This might have something to do with why Mazda SG1 is so good, they use a very small volume, that's my guess. drain and fill port locations would be better suited for the OP of this video :) but I did a lot of testing and cant help but share the results with other Mazda owners if they want to listen.

pull the outside door handle on the driver side and there will be a key slot just incase the vehicle battery dies and you need to get into the vehicle.
May I ask - that CX-30 has the "advanced keyless entry"......what model year is that? I have a '21 CX-5, and there was no mention of that feature being an option on ANY model of the CX-5 (in '21).
@@CARDIAXPLAYS I had a 2007 Lexus ES 350. It came as standard equipment. And believe it or not it's the one thing that bothers me the most about my '21 CX-5, I mean that it doesn't have it. @@stephenbay9564 I agree! My WRX has this feature and it took me a while to get use to it but now I love the convenience of only needing the fob on me to unlock the door.

In most cases I would say yes. Take note, there are instances of hacking a device to make it transmit. (I can only assume this is rare). Think similar like 'disconnecting' a bluetooth device from your computer. However, bluetooth isn't completely safe unless power is completely removed or the bt trans/receive modem is removed or broken.
it sort of does. but there is a thing called "" which interferes with the signal and copies it. The user is puzzled why it didnt work the first time when they pressed it so they press it again. Now they have both signals and they release the first signal which would activate the car. But the problem is they also have the second signal and so they can access the car as well without your knowledge. best thing to do is get a good steering lock. and put your keys in a faraday box you can buy or make yourself. even then the culprits could still access the car through the OBD port. I think you can counter that with a ghost immobiliser? Dont quote me on that. My apologise if anything i have said is inaccurate to those who are more exact with this information.
Soo, I got a 2025 cx50. Did this with one of my fobs, worked, but now I got a light in my gauge saying fob off. No matter what I do I can not get that damb light to go back off after turning the fob back on ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated
This is just to avoid the key cloning... Manufacturers already knows the remote keyless entry and proximity keyless entry can be easily copied and cars stolen.
So, on average, how long does the key fob battery last with daily use, a year, 18 months? That would be helpful to know when to look out for a balking fob.
Wish Mazda would focus more on things like how the car turns off every time you unlock it after remote starting it...this is one of the most annoying things about the car. Other manufactures also have remote start but the car doesn't turn off once you open the door, they have a smarter way of protecting car theft. The key fob going into battery saving mode is useless and also would cause customers to believe their key fob isn't working.
Battery save mode preserves the fob battery on the key you may not be using. Also, I like to hide this key attached to the car in case I ever lose the one I'm using. Battery save mode allows me to do this without removing the battery.
@@OxySynth I do agree, but several things are hard to find quickly. Sometimes I need to know something now, but the place to find it in my manual is not clearly defined. The index section does not have everything listed that I need to know, so I have to search thru sections to find it.
Amazing what happens when you read the instructions! I enjoy reading the owners manual. Not only do you learn so much about the car, but any parts that aren't of interest can be skipped. The trick is to do it in stages.
I saw a video saying that you can use the key fob to remote start the Mazda cx90 but I couldn't get it to work in the brief time that I experimented with it.
In 2021, when the CX30 was new, we were getting a false “low battery warning “. We were advised to deactivate the spare key fob and store it at least 20’ away from the car. Didn’t help, but it’s good to know how to reactivate it. They’ve finally resolved the error with a software update. Maybe. Hopefully. They did mine last week. We’ll see
Great antitheft mode. Saw another video for Toyota where it disables the the fob completely and pressing any button will disable the battery save mode.
What if I changed the battery, I see the red light working on the fob, but it won’t work? I can’t lock/unlock the car or start the car. I’ve taken it off the battery saving mode.
Going from a 2016 Mazda CX-5 to a 2024. The battery save mode so you can’t open the door from the car door handle is sooo nice! I go on long road trips so I tend to sleep in my car so I had to take the battery out of the remote so no one could open the car while I was sleeping.
Oh, it turns down the NFC radio responsiveness in the keyfob. This is a great safety feature, actually: defeats the "NFC relay attack" method of stealing a car.
It's not supposed to honk when the doors are locked by pressing the lock button on the key. The honk occurs if you press the lock button on the key when the doors are already locked.

How do i reset my remote start app on my cx9 2021? The result is due to system error, can i disconnect the battery and connect it back again? Thanka in advance
I disabled keyless go cause I had so much problems with it. When it's wet outside sometimes the doors don't open. When I wash my car and my keys are in my pocket, the car just randomly unlocks and unlocks every 5 seconds. I don't want to deal with all this so I just simply unlock by key.
it's a design flaw and Mazda has released a technical document about it, meaning that you can go to your dealer and they must fix it under a warranty. I've been through it and they just put a new improved seal on a door handle and sensors. For me, it happened mostly while washing a car with pressure washer. After they done it, not a single time I had a problem. You should ask for repair, you paid for that feature. It can be useful and I personally like it, also I think it's a more secure way to unlock a car becausethe signal is very weak and no one can scan it as opposed to clicking the button which works even from around 50-100meters.
@@FreakyKiky This is a common misconception. Technical bulletins are simply repair procedures and not "warranty" unless the vehicle is already under factory or extended warranty.
@@amylovesmazda if a car is under a warranty, it should be repaired for free. I did not said that it should be repaired for free if warranty expired... And you would notice this in 3 or 5 years for sure. I noticed it after first car wash.

Definitely not trying to get out of wearing seatbelts, but practical problems like when my kids get out of the car for school, I have to get out of carpool line, go park, and turn off the car and back on again in order to get it to stop the seatbelt alarm. Driving me crazy!
So many different alarms with my CX-5 that I seriously would reconsider buying another Mazda in the future. They have driven me bonkers.
@@nj-1008 every modern car has alot of warnings plus sounds. Buy an older car then.
@@TheAdatto This is simply not true. I've had several "modern" cars and none was as annoying and intrusive as the Mazda. Get real!
You may have a defective micro-switch on the seat.
OMG! I have the SAME problem....did you ever get it resolved? I'm going to call the service dept to see what they can do about it. Maybe re-set it??
Thanks man. What's that other small little metal key for?
pull the outside door handle on the driver side and there will be a key slot just incase the vehicle battery dies and you need to get into the vehicle.
@@CARDIAXPLAYS Thanks man!
May I ask - that CX-30 has the "advanced keyless entry"......what model year is that? I have a '21 CX-5, and there was no mention of that feature being an option on ANY model of the CX-5 (in '21).
The CX-30 on screen is a 2023. NOT all Mazda's come with this feature. Its an extra add on from the factory.
@@CARDIAXPLAYS I had a 2007 Lexus ES 350. It came as standard equipment. And believe it or not it's the one thing that bothers me the most about my '21 CX-5, I mean that it doesn't have it.
It's funny how you don't have to have these things, but when you have them and you get used to it - as I had that Lexus for 11 years - you really miss it when it goes away, as it did for me.
@@stephenbay9564 I agree! My WRX has this feature and it took me a while to get use to it but now I love the convenience of only needing the fob on me to unlock the door.
the cx-5 only has keyless entry depending on the trim level you have, it’s a black button on the side of your door handle. This advanced keyless entry is only available on the Mazda 3,30,50, and 90. (I’m a salesman)
Would this also protect the key fob from signal cloning since it’s not constantly transmitting?
In most cases I would say yes. Take note, there are instances of hacking a device to make it transmit. (I can only assume this is rare). Think similar like 'disconnecting' a bluetooth device from your computer. However, bluetooth isn't completely safe unless power is completely removed or the bt trans/receive modem is removed or broken.
Most of modern cars have algorithms in place to constantly change codes I thought
@@modernspartan98 *some* modern cars have algorithms… Look at how many Lexus get stolen with cloned key fobs!
it sort of does. but there is a thing called "" which interferes with the signal and copies it.
It doesn't constantly transmit
So would this help prevent wireless transmitters ?
Soo, I got a 2025 cx50. Did this with one of my fobs, worked, but now I got a light in my gauge saying fob off. No matter what I do I can not get that damb light to go back off after turning the fob back on ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Is this the same with the Cx 50 2024 and is there a way to start with key fob
What year Mazdas will this work on?
My mazda cx30 just got 3 button , did this one got these kind of function
This is just to avoid the key cloning... Manufacturers already knows the remote keyless entry and proximity keyless entry can be easily copied and cars stolen.
Anyone know how much longer the battery lasts if it’s in the save mode? I feel like I am constantly changing the battery on my CX5
How to get the the back door windows to roll down all the way down?
My cx-5 is only rolling have way down.
Would this work to avoid someones fob being scanned for theft?
So, on average, how long does the key fob battery last with daily use, a year, 18 months?
That would be helpful to know when to look out for a balking fob.
It's a best practice to replace the key fob battery every year.
Mine's 3 years old no problems yet.@@amylovesmazda
Reminder to replace battery soon showed up after 2 years and 10 months.
Oh! dear guess how old my key fob is lol.@@jimbush80528
Store a replacement battery package in the glove box and you are set.
What is the extra button for at the bottom?
Mine only has 3.
Thanks for the video though, at least I know to check battery saving mode if my car isn't turning on.
Battery save mode preserves the fob battery on the key you may not be using. Also, I like to hide this key attached to the car in case I ever lose the one I'm using. Battery save mode allows me to do this without removing the battery.
My Toyota Tacoma shuts off as soon as you open a door, annoying but used to it.
@@RPO767 "lose"
@@nj-1008 Copy that. Many corrections to be had here on RUclips. Thanks.
Can you do this with both of them? I don’t like having the idea that someone can open my door when my key fob is close to the vehicle.
I already knew about these features cuz i read the entire manual.
How it should be actually, almost nobody reads the manual anyone. Everything you need to know about this car has been already wrote down there.
🏆👍🏻
@@OxySynth I do agree, but several things are hard to find quickly. Sometimes I need to know something now, but the place to find it in my manual is not clearly defined. The index section does not have everything listed that I need to know, so I have to search thru sections to find it.
I've avoided reading the Manual or even opening it because it's 2 inches thick. Way too much to read.
Amazing what happens when you read the instructions! I enjoy reading the owners manual. Not only do you learn so much about the car, but any parts that aren't of interest can be skipped. The trick is to do it in stages.
Is this applicable to the 2021 CX5 model?
I saw a video saying that you can use the key fob to remote start the Mazda cx90 but I couldn't get it to work in the brief time that I experimented with it.
Is there a way to make the irritating bing bongs stop after a few seconds. Or not be so persistent if say a back seat rider isn’t buckled in?
Is the horn sound from your key fob actions, or just a coincidence?😅
In 2021, when the CX30 was new, we were getting a false “low battery warning “. We were advised to deactivate the spare key fob and store it at least 20’ away from the car. Didn’t help, but it’s good to know how to reactivate it. They’ve finally resolved the error with a software update. Maybe. Hopefully. They did mine last week. We’ll see
Hi, how do I get the software update?
@@makhoshimaano The dealership did it
Great antitheft mode. Saw another video for Toyota where it disables the the fob completely and pressing any button will disable the battery save mode.
What does that hold button do?
What if I changed the battery, I see the red light working on the fob, but it won’t work? I can’t lock/unlock the car or start the car. I’ve taken it off the battery saving mode.
Can you auto start with key fob on cx5 2023 turbo
TLDR: Push the lock button 4 times, then hold it for a second or two. Discussed at 3:54.
Going from a 2016 Mazda CX-5 to a 2024. The battery save mode so you can’t open the door from the car door handle is sooo nice! I go on long road trips so I tend to sleep in my car so I had to take the battery out of the remote so no one could open the car while I was sleeping.
Godd video, but what's a buh-in?
Nice, Thank You Sir💯💎
What about opening the windows with the key fob ?
If i dont have advance keyless entry do i have the battery save mode? I have 2.5s trim
Yes it does have the battery save mode.
Oh, it turns down the NFC radio responsiveness in the keyfob. This is a great safety feature, actually: defeats the "NFC relay attack" method of stealing a car.
Helpful video.
Your neighbors hate you.
My Mazda doesn't honk on pressing lock, how can I enable this? :o
It's not supposed to honk when the doors are locked by pressing the lock button on the key. The honk occurs if you press the lock button on the key when the doors are already locked.
@@maninthestreet01 What you said doesn't happen either though. It just beeps, no honk. I have the stock Mazda stuff, so maybe he added a mod?
Look on your vehicle settings on the media screen. There are ways to change things like that for sure.
@@Srt8Jeep I did, only beep in the settings. Nothing for horn upon lock.

FFS. If people would read their owner's manual, they would realize that these aren't "hidden features".
You are totally correct my dude.
Love the help my dude 🎉
Novel idea 😂
I was thinking this too.
Who tf has time to read an entire 700 page car manual…
Good stuff, thnx 🤗🤗🤗
What is the purpose of the battery save mode?
Your neighbours must love you with that loud noise every time you lock/unlock it. Luckily my 2024 doesn’t do that.
Is there something like this Honda?
This probably disables the walk away auto lock right
Nothing hidden. It's all int the manual. RTFM!
actualy i had this issue went to dealer mazda they say u need hard reset guy did it did not work so said they need car for a day , well i fixed at home watching youtube same fob was on save mode what a Moran in service works there
How do i reset my remote start app on my cx9 2021? The result is due to system error, can i disconnect the battery and connect it back again? Thanka in advance
The sensor on the outside of the door handle LOCKS the door.
Mine does the same thing buying a new Mazda was a huge mistake.
Just leave your key in the car, this will not happen.
I noticed it after first car wash.
thanks for the video.
But I find this feature not useful at all, a battery is like 50 cents and it keeps you at least 1+ year so you don't save that much.
A hidden feature where you could lower all windows from the key fob would be indeed useful :)))
I think it has that feature.
Hit the unlock button 4 times and hold it on the last time and all the windows will come down
I will try that tomorrow, what about putting them back up again?@@iamtheuse6321
Thank You! Ya, I haven't read my manual. I'm sure it's in there.
Looks like this is also a theft prevention measure since the key fob no longer sends radio transmissions until a button is pressed on the fob.
I have the 2024 Mazda cx 30 with the red leather. It had the wireless charger but the CarPlay need a wire to connect. It there a way to make it wireless without buying anything aftermarket?
Mazda is way ahead and reliable over toyota lexus.
Press 3 time open button on key fob at 4th hold and you can open all windows at hot day's
I agree with you. And honestly I just found out about the window feature just the other day from another youtuber.
If you press the lock button 3 times and hold on the 4th does it lock the windows?
I'd rather have the remote start on the fob. The phone app is extremely unreliable as of August, 2023. Summer in AZ - all windows down is not enough.
How to set the radio and safe?
And you can roll down the windows (but not up) I don't remember the combination
Why does it need to honk?
This doesn't have nothing to do with battery saving mode. Exactly what you do with remote you can do it for setting menu in the car by deactivate proximity sensor.
My wife bought a CX-9 last year, and one of her keys is not working. I will be checking this when we get home tonight.
Are batteries that expensive? lol $8 bucks for a cup of coffee sure, $5 bucks for a battery that last couple years, oh my no lol
