if minecraft worlds are infinite and the randomness was truly random, then every seed would be contained within every other seed.
You forgot about the fletching table, which is critical for any Minecraft base to have because of all its many uses...

While I agree that ender chests and the like are unnecessary, I would argue that a base is also required to offer some level of protection from mobs, via walls or well spread lighting.
If you're not hanging out with creepers everything will be fine.

personally, I prefer my 'small bases' to be things you could (at least in theory) just sorta pop up anywhere as a utility - maybe you found a large ore vein and want to mine it out and smelt all the ore down, so you set up a little spot with a chest (for storing stone and ores), a few furnaces, and a crafting table for making more pickaxes.
I had no idea half beds were even possible to generate
Yes, "a base" might not need an anvil, ender chest and enchanting table in order to call a base and survive in minimum BUT a base should also provide a protection. If you AFK there, you most definetely die at night. So a base is not a structure only consist of bed, chest, crafting table and furnace; a base must have a roof and walls to call base and safely hide from dangers of night. What have you made is not a base but a camp with sleeping-bag and you don't have a tent or even a tarp to cover your head.
in that case you only need to add 1 or 2 more blocks and its safe
That first trapdoor base should be perfectly safe, at least in singleplayer
this is only the necessary to progress ingame, nobody said it was perfect for gameplay
@@stardy8131if we're strictly going by necessary to progress, we don't need the bed or the chest either
@@icedragon9097 damn right my bad
What about chest boats? Since they are technically entities, not blocks, you can replace your chest with chest boats
Technically if you're counting blocks used then yes but it doesn't look compact and they take up much more space than 1 chest
Chest minecarts are more compact, since a minecart is 0.7m high and 0.98m long.
You can clip them into the bed using the farmland clip, on top of a furnace under the bed, and a crafting table to the side.
This base is 3 blocks.
Furnace minecarts aren't furnaces, so this can't be improved to 2 blocks, without bending the (already way too bended) rules.
@@caspermadlener4191Seriously, what... why is the furnace minecart??? Its intended use seems pretty stupid to me. Minecarts don't actually link up all that well, and the furnace minecart seems more like a liability to use than anything. Never actually used it before since I play on Bedrock, but still...
Okay, I quickly read through the Minecraft wiki page for the thing, and it's... not too bad? Though, I might be missing something, but apparently minecarts with furnaces are... slightly slower than walking speed when powered. Amazing.
I think one thing is overlooked. A base is also enclosed and must have an entrance that can be closed.
This is required because if not a mob could attack you.
They don't have to be enclosed, me and my friend just put some fences around a manageable area then lit it up and it worked really well for less rescources
@@MuhammadKhan-ib9ct but the mobs shouldn't be able to just walk up to you, at least zombies and creepers. Skeleton and spider protection is also preferable. The "base" in the video has none
@@O5MO fair enough but this is more of a pitstop base than a relax base, just a quick stop to get some stuff, sleep, craft and smelt before you're off
In 1.20, "update skipping" is still possible. By chaining an update skipper to the farmland block and mining it, you can break the crop without updating the half bed.
i think i'd add the requirement of the base having to be an enclosed space as one of the core ingredients for a base.
you can plop up a bed, crafting, furnace, and chest anywhere, but its not really a base if its not within some building with an entrance.
Minecart chest:
Am I a joke to you?
Cant believe other people havent thought to use them
A base in the nether would need a respawn anchor instead of a bed, and a respawn anchor is already one block in size, so the 5 block base he mentioned could be four blocks without using a half bed or anything if you simply built it in the nether with a respawn anchor on top.
Update suppression can be used to make a half bed if you change the direction, also there are much easier 1.18 suppressors. Also update suppression is not entirely patched in 1.19+ as OOM and CCE suppression still exist.
honestly researching a video like this probably takes a while, and it came out very cool!
Next video: “Finding a 3 block long bed in Minecraft 1.20”
You can update suppress in 1.19 + still, but out can do what you wanted to do with beds with update skipping
I really like the documentary style videos that you make because they’re very fun to watch and they always have the most unique ideas :)
You can probably go as small as 3 blocks with this if you use a chest minecart instead of a normal chest
I’ve seen like 3-4 of these top bed seeds. They are cool.
Alternative title: man spends weeks of his life trying to get a broken bed that isn’t next to a crop
I am in love with that night sky resource pack.
4:41 It does work now, there are multiple ways to do it. But understandable that the video was recorded before the discovery.
I believe update skipping would also work, and has been known for ages now

@@TheMisterEpic I the dog pfp is very cute but any ideas to change it to something else?
I’ve actually found a half bed once in either bedrock or Java world I was playing with my friends, didn’t realize how rare it is
I love how consistent the videos are, it’s like every weekend there’s a new video 👌
What if you glitch a minecart chest into another block? Can't you make it like 3.5 blocks then?
Or, instead of trying to find a village with a half bed, you could just load up minecraft beta 1.7.3, grab a bed and a cactus, and place the cactus down, then be within a block of the cactus, then stand on the edge of that block, put the bed in your hand, and on the opposite direction of the edge you're standing on, right click the block next to the cactus, and then you have a half bed, unobstructed. (then you could just update to 1.20 and do whatever you want with it)
"9 blocks is too big"
Minecraft hardcore players after spending 36 years on a giant base:
Please make more seed videos. So interesting!
0:15 The before sleep routine.
Here is a 3 block base concept:
Have the bed on top of a furnace, with a crafting table next to it, and have the chest as a *minecart* clipped inside the bed. Everything is accessible here, since a minecart is less than a full block.
This is unbreakable, since you require three different blocks, as the furnace, bed, and crafting table, because the furnace minecart does not function as a furnace.
The minecart can be clipped inside the bed by just letting it land on a rail while also clipping in the bed, because a bed is less than a full block high.
Also, update suppression still works in 1.20, since a 2 block design can be constructed with update suppression. For the first update suppression, you need a quite large redstone machine, or make it in earlier versions.
This idea is based on another comment, who suggested a chest boat, although this doesn't count by redstone entity regulations.
these seed videos are so good
You can use the bed with crops in front just set random tick speed to 0
Update suppression actually in possible in the most recent version, it's just a few specific methods that have been patched. New methods are a lot quicker and simpler too.
While I was speedrunning on 1.19, I found a village that has 3 top half beds without the crops obstructing the bottom half of the beds. the 2 beds were obstructed with a ruined portal while the other one was obstructed by an igloo.
My friend actually found a top half-bed without obstructions i believe. And it was on our server that we regularly played on!
I actually found a half bed in a world too in 1.20 lol. It was split because of a lava lake, so it wouldn't have the original problem of updating farmland.
Man I haven’t seen you in years! I remember watching you when you had less than 100k 😂
MisterEpic: I spend hours of my time on my minecraft base!
Everyone: Cool, but I can't see it
MisterEpic: Thats the point
Technical minecrafter here, Update suppression is actually possible 1.19+ using a technique found by Igna778 called "OOM Suppression" (Out of memory suppression). Pretty large setup but at least it is still possible.
Oh also there is another thing called "Update skipping" which is basically the same thing, also works in 1.19 and only requires like 14 blocks to setup. Infernal has some videos on the setup if you're interested.
Update suppression pre 1.19 is also really easy, you can just use the update skipper as it functions as a suppressor in older versions or use a rail suppressor (most common method)
Love this video! 😊
Haven't even watched it yet!
I already know its bout to be awesome!
Using mods we can get this to be even smaller.
With the Sleeping Bag mod, we don't even need a bed. We can just sleep anywhere.
With Draconic Evolution, we can place a draconic chest which counts as a chest, a furnace, and a crafting table, however it can not provide power to itself like a vanilla furnace. So that only gets us down to 2 blocks, 1 for the chest, and 1 to power the furnace inside the chest.
With mods, you could make a tiny entity that doea literally everything. I wouldn't count mods.
@@KopperNeoman i think that is the joke
IN 1.10.2 if I remember then when putting a cactus and then next to it a bed with the back part it left the front part which worked the same as on your seed from this episode
Btw u can create the half of bed whit a debug stick just make face the top in another direction and breack the other half
GREAT VID I LOVED IT KEEP UP
I like how he combined "Crafting Table" and "Work Bench" into "Crafting Bench"
I found a half bed (top half) caused by a desert temple generated in 1.20 in my bedrock survival world 🤗 its just 50 000 blocks away from spawn🤣
Alternative title: Making a NY apartment in Minecraft
Minecraft: Have INFINITE space!
Minecraft community: Okay, but how do I make my base as small as possible
I found I half bed once, it was during a manhunt. I freaked out so much!
I like how you've sorta been filling the content void that antvenom left behind recently
SB737 actually found the half bed in his hardcore world because a village generated in the sky you cant sleep in them
You can use a single lectern shucker box and comparator to update suppress in 1.20
Nerd moment, but in 1.20 and 1.19 update suppression was patched in a way that forced certain blocks to update, however this can be manipulated by having desynchronization in the world such as a block not updating properly in the case of quasi-connectivity, and achieve a similar method of “update skipping” where the forced update conflicts with another mechanic like breaking obsidian to destroy parts of nether portals, essentially yes you can achieve the same result but it’s a slightly different technique as you no longer need to overload the game.
Just found a "functional" half bed on my seed yesterday, now I know what my base will be
I don't think a furnace is "essential". Uncooked food and stone tools might be less efficient, but they are sufficient for basic survival.
In my opinion if the base is only 4 blocks but its "footprint" is in a 2x3 rectangle then thats more important
there is one more thing i feel like a base needs...protection from danger
Absolutely wild
While really interesting, I don't think it provides much shelter, which you yourself mentioned was a requirement for a base
i found a seed like this a year or 2 ago without obstructions in an igloo but i dont have it anymore lol
Does anyone know what texture pack he's using for the night sky?
in my survival world i ran across a village with a bed half generated like this, half the structure was overwritten with a lava pool.
Weird that you didn't just use modern update supression which I believe works on 1.19+, but the seed exploration was cool to see.
I've actually seen a few half beds in my long-term world, it's always been a farm taking a bite out of a savanna house. For some reason, that specific biome has really derpy village generation.
“Don’t make me update suppress you”
"crafting bench" is the most cursed phrase i can think of.
it's a crafting table. It's not even shaped like a bench...
what is the night sky from? is it a shader or a resource pack ?
Ohhh?? Very cool!
Imagine how uncomfortable this must be for Steve
Couldnt you remove the melon stem without destroying the bed with the banner trick?
Finally, the truly smallest minecraft base. I can rest easy knowing its been done.
Uptdate supression works in 1.19. Just in a bit different way. Idk if that could be used ti make halfbeds but sure you can try.
or just use update skipping, much smaller setup than the true suppression method by igna
This is epic mister epic
You should be able to hide and be safe in a base
Yea, every base has a chest, bed, furnace and crafting table. Not all bases with have enchant tables e chests or even an anvil, because when you first start off you don’t make these until later in the world.
what makes a minecraft base a base? bed, chest, furnace, crafting table. but when you put the crafting table next to the furnace, it's a home
W server btw but I want more stuff in it also great vid❤

whats the mod/shader/resource pack used to make the sky so awesome
The chest minecart is also able to be utilized
Omg YES a 6 block base is to big of course !

0:15 nah what is bro doing in the bed 🤨
woah crayzy. Im so proud ahv you
if you use a minecartchest it can be even more compact
There was a pink sheep in one of the zoom outs
i once found a glitched bed, half of it was INSIDE a block (bedrock 1.18 glitched terrain lol)... and then i updated the block.
can't be that rare if i randomly stumbled upon a half bed in my education edition world at school
why are you so under rated😔😔
on one of my worlds, a desert village spawned in chunks in 1.19 that wasnt there in 1.18 causing a bunch of floating buttons to spawn since the wall of some houses were on the edge of chunks i loaded in before updating my world to 1.19. the same thing might be possible with beds but idk
This is actually easier when using update skipping in newer versions of Minecraft
bro created the greatest mini base
You could use a normal update supressor with rails
As a Minecraft almost 4 years player, I can say in the smallest Minecraft base should be at least 1 chest, a bed, a crafting table, a furnace and a anvil
Wait until he remembers about minecart chest
