Thank you, and yeah it is pretty weird! I sent Atari an email about it when I got the console, and they sent me a response saying to do everything I did. So they are aware that it's an issue, for sure
I get your point. Not a huge deal to a computer person. Not friendly to the mainstream lay person though, which is also many average older atari fans. Consoles should work out of the box. Supposedly a very recent update fixed this.@cyrollan
i love indie titles, so this device was perfect for me. haven't been interested in current gen titles in a few years now. (i've reached the age of a retro gamer!)
That's fantastic! So far, I've had no issues with streaming on this, but you can't use the pack in controllers for menu navigation on the apps. You need to either use the Atar VCS companion app or a USB keyboard or mouse. Other than that, have a good time with your netflix box that can play some dang good games!
I had the out of box issues as well. I really enjoyed using the joy stick controller. I am wondering where they would go moving on from here. Maybe somthing with AI.
Sorry you had issues as well. I wonder if they'll ever address it. I'm honestly not sure what will be next for Atari. Now that they purchased Intellivision and released the 7800+, they seem to be focused on the historical significance of the company. Which I think is the right move
on Reddit i offered to send anyone (in the US) a free bootable USB drive with the update on it. only two people took me up on the offer. i wonder if new users did a little digging and discovered how easy it is to do?
That’s nutty that they haven’t fixed such a major right-out-of-the-box issue. I don’t have the patience for that, honestly. Glad you got it to work!

if you're computer literate, it takes less than 15 minutes to create the bootable USB with firmware update. how little patience do you have??

Atari just released a new update that supposedly will let systems download and install updates right out of the box.
I just found out about that today! That's great news
