The issues that you are having are pilot error. Read the instructions on how to connect the controller. Once you do things as instructed, the controller works great. It also seems that you may have bad rom files. All of the games work fine on my Duo.
It sounds like you didn’t update the controller firmware to the Duo specific firmware. Once you do that, the controller will connect directly to the Duo without the dongle. Also, make sure that you have updated the firmware on the Duo itself.
I think the super nt and mega sg are better, but the analogue duo is an improvement over the tg16 mini. There's also a video on youtube on how to add library images to your collection.

You need to update your controller firmware.
Then you won't need the usb dongle and the home button will work.
I can’t. Doesn’t work. I contacted 8bitdo and they told me not to update it because it can brick the controller
@ToxcynTV You need the firmware for the analogue dock.
Works perfectly for me.
Unplug the dongle you don't need it after the firmware update.

Hey thanks so I managed to get it updated but it didn’t change anything with the controller. Still behaves the same way with the duo.
@@ToxcynTV Are you still using the usb dongle?
