- Meet Col Shirish Pandey, Fearless Para Commando Ex-21 Para. His experience covers apex level exposure to operations and strategy at the National Security Guard where he was deeply involved in the development of the National Counter Hijack and Counter Terrorism SOPs, conduct of coordination and interaction with other instruments of national security, in addition to being the single execution contact point for all operational matters. He was awarded the Director General National Security Guard Commendation Card for his distinguished service and contributions. As Commander, Paratrooper Training School ensured operational readiness to undertake effective extreme risk high altitude airborne operations; which included overhauling the legacy training infrastructure, curriculum, staffing tables and implementing new generation equipment induction. He conceived the first successful Vertical Wind Tunnel project of the country; gained approval for the design
validation through IIT Delhi, finalised budget and apex approvals amounting to this
project of over 85 Cr INR within his Command tenure. Ideated and built a
parachute evaluation device through IIT Delhi, another first in India.
As Commandant, Junior Leaders Academy (A premier leadership and management
training establishment of the IA) I revamped the entire learning and development
curriculum to cater for emerging challenges, designed and executed a major
infrastructure plan encompassing civil, electrical and IT works, built a language
laboratory using legacy PCs reinstalled with Linux OS, created movie based
leadership series in order to illustrate concepts of team building, ethics and
ownership to overcome the learning hesitancy of students and oversaw a flow
through of 15 k trainees (including foreign students) in a span of 18 months. He was
awarded two GOC-In-C Commendations for distinguished service and leadership
during this period. He was also awarded the General Officer Commanding in Chief Commendation Card by the Army Commander Southern Command for distinguished service and delivery of results for the supervision of initial roll out of the ECSH medical coverage scheme and the Army Placement Nodes across the theatre. He was selected as delegation leader to the Republic of Kazakhstan and was a delegate to Bangladesh and Myanmar as part of the joint military diplomatic missions spearheaded by the Indian Navy. Further, he has mentored and trained young school and college going youths during my tenure with NCC at Mumbai.
