- Here's a video of a Kootenay Valley Helicopters Sikorsky S-61 C-GWTX seen in action at CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia. The video includes numerous approaches, landings, and takeoffs as well as some close-up footage. This is definitely one of the most impressive helicopters I've seen at CZNL, love these classics!
Superb video of this stunning helicopter. Sikorsky builds very impressive helicopters. Cheers Matt
Thanks very much Matt, I appreciate it!
Who would give this video a thumbs down???? Don't get it.
les sharratt Fixed wing types 😃
Officially one of my favorites for your channel :)
Thanks a lot! This one was definitely one of my favorite catches from CZNL :-)
Another splendid copter catch! The Sikorsky is such a lovely heli! Thoroughly enjoyed watching this one, and loved the close-ups!
One of these just pass my house.Only 700ft over my house should have had my camera. My first time seeing one
Lucky! Bet that made a great sound. Love the old S-61.
Nice!
Thanks!
Great catch! What's the heaviest rotor wing you guys have gotten there?
Thanks! Nothing too crazy. I think the two biggest helicopter's I've seen here are the Boeing Vertol BV-107 and this Sikorsky S-61.
Ah, so this one is a pretty important catch for you guys!
Muito bom !!
Thanks for watching!
Flew to oil platforms in the North sea for many years in the 61, at times atrocious weather but always felt safe.
That must have been interesting commuting by S61, glad they kept you safe over the years.
Was the airport closed for the helicopter exercise? It looked for the video that the runway couldn't be used when they were refueling the helicopter.
I'm not 100% sure if it was closed. It's a very quiet little airport though, so it may have been.
Absolutely incredible footage, I love this helicopter so I'm so glad you captured this one and I think it's one of your best yet. Great up close footage. Two Thumbs Up :)
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! This is the first S-61 I've ever seen and it was definitely awesome.

Sounds Like super puma
These always sounded so loud, so mean, and so intimidating. I always remember the angry and evil sound of the tail rotor. And the supercharger whine from the intakes of the turbines at the front.
6:04 looks like he takes off again to prevent ground resonance.
Never seen this helicopter before, fantastic catch mate! Really nice shots!:)
Splendide filming! Great catch, that Heli looks like it has the Titan Airways livery :D! Liked for sure
Thanks a lot, it was nice to see this one!
This looks like someone being given a class in how to fly the S-61. Part of the flying was done expertly part if it looks like someone flying who is new to the airframe.
This helicopter is fantastic! I love this classic! BIG Like!
I love the classics as well. Thanks for watching!
You're welcome! *****
I spent months of my life sitting in this helicopter, flying around Afghanistan. It's a fine machine.
That´s amazing to see such a classy helicopter. It´s such a good looking design from 1959.
Thanks! It was really cool to see this classic here.
Such stunners! Great video as usual mate - your filming is spot on!
Agreed - and that thumbnail!
Thanks very much!
For 50 years this beauiful helicopter has serviced the Greenlandic population. Since my childhood the fantastic sound of an arriving/departing Sikorsky S 61 from Grønlandsfly - now Air Greenland, has filled my ears every day.
That sound is now gone forever from the Greenland airspace.
Can carry thirty six fully laden troops 😊
NICE aircraft...! Sure can tell the difference between instructor and student watching this Vid.... (Everybody has to start sometime - the student will develops touch-control before too long and look like a long-time pilot....!)
Beautiful machine..Queen of the skies3
Briliant video! Stunning images with big Helicopter! Great sounds and awesome scenery! Good work, master! Thumbs Up
All the best & Respects from Romania

What an awesome catch of this helicopter my friend!! I like the close view it looks really cool! Have a fantastic day! :)
Thanks! I was lucky to get some footage of this one.
***** no problem! :)
Also good camera work
That guy doing the fuel should not have gone out there when the heli was still airborne. The heli could have twitched to the side and slammed into the dude.
he's the mechanic, he knows what he is doing.
Superbe réalisation ! Les points de vue sont magnifiques ! :)
Merci!

Since I am not a helicopter pilot may I ask this question. Is there a spring loaded valve inside the fuel tank that prevents the fuel from coming out after the fuel hose is removed?
Good question. Unfortunately I don't know the answer, but hopefully someone else will see your comment and have the answer.
I work for vih helicopters which is this company right here there is an engineer standing by the fuel tanker that when its done filling they shut the generator off which shuts fuel down to the hose
@@tylorblakeney7182 Actually it is an ex-VIH aircraft. It was owned and operated by Kootenay Valley Helicopters when this video was made.
Great footage....Well filmed...Cheers...Steve.-:)
