  • VIH Helicopters Kamov Ka-32 C-FMKV is seen starting-up and taking off to fuel up, then relocating to park. At the same time, another Kamov Ka-32 of VIH Helicopters, C-FMKV, is seen on the approach and landing. What an awesome sight to see these two impressive coaxial rotor helicopters together at CNZL!

    The counter rotation of the blades seems like such a good system. No wasted power going to a tail rotor. I just can’t understand why it’s not more common especially for heavy lift helicopters.

    • @CenturionsReview
      @CenturionsReview 6 лет назад +1

      The power "drain" is very low. Some, such as the angled one on the Blackhawk actually provide additional lift for the aircraft. The reason coaxial rotors are less common than helicopters with tail rotors is because the extra expense, maintenance costs and complexity isn't worth it. However, the NOTAR design that is used on some versions of the MD500 has proven to be less complex and expensive to maintain than traditional tail rotors. The future of helicopters without tail rotors is with NOTAR, not coaxial rotors.

    world second Kamof operation country is....
    Korea, Republic of. I guess we have over 60s.
    its very common in here, some construction sites hire them and move over-weighted stuffs on high points.
    oh, their main operation is fire fighting with dumping water. they endure against strong side winds under forest fire. but engine endurances are not good :( huge gas consumtion 🤑🤑 and very loud.
    in short, Russian style🤣🤣🤣
    oh, I notice the difference what canadians and ours, Korean firefighing Kamof have inside water dumping tanks(developed by Korean) not a water bucket. tanks capacity is 3400 litter or 900 gallon.

      может и гремит, но зато вертолёты соосной схемы считаются более безопасными в сложных для вертолётов лётных условиях, при тушении пожаров лесных к примеру, или спасение людей в горной местности, в полётах над водной поверхностью. Собсно именно потому они используются во всяких спасательных службах и во флоте. Сама конструкция проста и довольно надёжна.

    Russian technology! This thing will still fly in 50 years. It's funny. If REALLY robust technology is needed in the West (e.g. fire-fighting helicopters), Russian technology is used. The Kamow helicopters are considered the safest machines in the world. A clever design. The two counter-rotating rotors neutralize the torque around the vertical axis, without a fault-prone tail rotor would be necessary. The Russian combat helicopter Kamow KA-52 is the most elegant helicopter for me.

    Co-axial, the easiest to learn when starting to fly remote controlled helicopters. It looks ugly, but a step closer to knowing how to hover, move on 6 axis and graduate to the collective pitch single main rotor blade helicopter that requires more pilot skills. What is the transmission case of the Russian Kamov helicopters made of ? I would assume titanium .

    • @CenturionsReview
      @CenturionsReview 6 лет назад

      It's aluminum alloy on the choppers I used to work on. I have no idea what the Russians are using though.

    These are heavy lift helicopters, VIH uses them for heli-logging, taking over Helifors work load after they closed down. They surely also use them in the interior for fire fighting and other lifts

  • @jonyknoxvil

    Those heavy lift operators are making it look more complicated than it really is. Don't waste time get in quick fill up and get going. Don't just hover there in no man's land. Especially when they cost hundreds of dollars per minute to run and not to mention lives a risk with a burning fire or a customer complaining because you take too long...

      I agree. It's in the Heliswiss livery, and they added some maple leaves to make it more Canadian. Really suits it well!

    Podrán ser más chingones que los helicópteros gringos, pero la verdad que HORRIBLES son la mayoría de los helicópteros rusos.

      The horror will not pass the Russian military admissions office. The demands are very high. And the main one is survivability in battle. This is an adapted naval helicopter. Or do you need a flying Rolls Royce?

    Always loved hearing helicopters start up to 80,000 and more . Wait a minute two propellers that would be like 160,000 rpm right ? Look out Eiffel Tower . I want one ☝️

    • @Milosz_Ostrow
      @Milosz_Ostrow 5 лет назад +1

      On most helicopters the main rotors never go faster than 800 rpm, or so, to keep the rotor blade tip speed subsonic under all flight conditions.

    What is the advantage of that cluster flop counter rotations props. Is it just a Russian thing to be different from US made helicopters?. Stupid looking and has to be a maintenance nightmare.

    • @lateralus411
      @lateralus411 3 года назад +2

      Traditional heli design diverts 30% engine power to the tail rotor. Counter rotating blades eliminates the need for a tail rotor. It may look stupid but it certainly is practical and efficient. As for maintenance nightmare's ...its a helicopter, they're all nightmare's.
