No lie, Hemel Hempstead actually looks really nice. That said, being from the middle of nowhere US, most places in the UK look really nice in comparison. I might legitimately visit Hemel Hempstead for an afternoon if I ever get to travel to the UK.

Beauty or ugliness has to do with the people who live in a place. I've been to "beautiful" places where the people were s*** to each other and to strangers, and I've been to places that were depressing to behold, but the people were just lovely and wonderful.

I used to work just outside Hemel Hempstead as a teen in the late 90s .... Just because certain towns don't look so pretty on the outside, often have some truly lovely communities and people......
