I went to the postage stamp show in Omaha when the Big Boy 4014 was there. They had a list of 9 different postage stamps featuring the Big Boy and none of them were U.S.A.
I find it weird that, despite how demanding the larger Japanese locomotives were, they didn’t have mechanical stokers. Southern Railway 4501, a locomotive of similar size, needs a mechanical stoker to ensure stable operation.
There was a few examples of Japanese steam power being fitted with mechanical stokers, the C62's being the first example that jumps to mind, as well as the D62 2-8-4's.
Kinda par for the course for Japan. They seem to be both ahead and behind in technology. Nowadays they are pretty advanced in structural engineering, along with city layout but they still use fax machines.
I enjoyed the galaxy railways, mostly because it was one of the few railway themed anime to actually get an English dub. Apart from that, the closest we got to trains in anime in an English dub, (where a character uses a train for longer than 1 Or 2 episodes), was probably Full Metal Alchemist and Demon Slayer.
If it wasn't for galaxy express getting dubbed, I would had never known about it or galaxy express 999. I love that he used UP big boy for galaxy express, it's my second favorite steam engine. I loved all of leji Matsumoto work and now he is finally resting in the here after but I'm sure he'll have another great story ready for us all when meet him in the afterlife. RIP you legend
Same thing with the WD austerity 2-8-0s There were over 900 built And BR scrapped them all and the only reason there is a preserved one is because there was one in Sweden that was brought to England
My favorite train the c62 was used in the brave series such as might gaine, goldran, and dagwon. I really enjoyed transformers transforming from that steam locomotive
I used to watch Galaxy railways my first anime because trains in space is damn cool, right now i feel like there's lots of questioning like "Why is Big One aka UP Big Boy pulling Japanese Narrow Gauge passenger cars, how does a train fly, how is there steam and smoke releasing but there's nothing in the locomotive, and physics of the trains in anime doesn't make sense" but hey it's pretty cool trains can fly to space but the train physics is about 50/50.
As someone whose top 2 favorite things are trains and anime, I really love this video. Too bad most Americans hate these things. It really pisses me off
Some guy: And if you look at the other trains from around the world. This big steam locomotive 4014 is a hauler. This monstrosity is what Union Pacific built to tame the mountain rocks. Rail Romanesque: Its huge!! Bigger than our freight transportation! Listen to the whistle, its louder than a tooot toooooot
I love it when trains are properly animated instead of that Faust awful bullshit that comes from American media. Japanese animators know what they’re doing.
Have noticed on the galaxy railways that they incorrectly show the reverser moving up and down It in real life does not do that . During running it only moves like that when reversing or metering
okay, big ones very cool, but can we talk about how it, a singular train, managed to destroy a technologically more advanced empire which enslaved and killed presumably at least over 100k people, honestly i see why the spg was going to get one similar but which was instead "Stolen" by pirates
I feel like...there needs to be more. Official Big Boy waifu and all...i mean like seriously, we got boats, guns, cars, tanks & planes...what's the harm in pushing into the M rating? I can only imagine what the ES44 is gonna look like, and I do 3ft guage.
I Wonder How Steam Locomotives Like Flying Scotsman And Mallard From The UK, Or Southern Pacific 4449 And Union Pacific 844 Of The USA, Or Maybe Even Movie Trains Like The Polar Express And The Hogwarts Express Would Look Like If They Were In Animes
To this day, I wonder why did the creator of the Galaxy Railways decide to use an American locomotive instead of making a fictional locomotive or using a lesser-known Japanese locomotive.
Alright. I have a question for y'all. I remember a few years ago that I watched an anime of the Oiwake yard roundhouse fire on the 24th of December, 1975. I can't for the life of me remember it's name, and I'm not the biggest watcher of Anime, so I may be thinking of a specific episode from one of those shows. If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.
Hey KDT&R Productions. Here's an idea you should do. You should always ask owners for permission to use their copyright in your videos and credit them for their company.
I like how the Big Boy is so prolific it even manages to squirm into anime haha.
I went to the postage stamp show in Omaha when the Big Boy 4014 was there. They had a list of 9 different postage stamps featuring the Big Boy and none of them were U.S.A.
I mean they are pretty iconic
And the way big boy succesfully infiltrated galaxy railways
@EA-18G_Sky_Eye yeah, i didn't know how i felt about it at the time since it made the design functionally impractical on real rails.
@@RICHARDMIRANDA-e6v But they still somehow managed to launch and land GE8001 on actual rails XDD
anime creators must really like C62s
while its one of the most known steam locomotives in japan
@@TRAIN110ValleyProductions d51 supremacy
C62 for passenger service, D51 for freight. They’re both iconic.
C62 is like the Dreyfuss Hudson of Japan and the D51 is the PRR K-4 of Japan.
More like the PRR L1s class Mikado
I find it weird that, despite how demanding the larger Japanese locomotives were, they didn’t have mechanical stokers. Southern Railway 4501, a locomotive of similar size, needs a mechanical stoker to ensure stable operation.
That always surprised me too, I noticed a lot of European engines don't have them either, I guess they were always more a North American thing
Some of the European steam locomotives had something called a coal pusher in the tender that pushed coal from the back of the tender to the front.
Some manchurian steam locomotives had a stoker
Rail Romanesque and Maitetsu are interesting examples since they actually feature various classes and so on (8620, C57, C51, B1, etc)
nice video btw
we stan c51s here
I see big one based off the Union Pacific 4001 that has been scrapped but in this series it looks awesome
Big One is my favorite anime engine ever
Well, hello there
Very weird that anime or Japanese used a literal USA 4-8-8-4-61-1 Big Boy from America. 🇺🇸
Don't forget Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, where they basically LIVE on one ^^
I only enjoy it because of flying trains
This is Why I Really Love The Railways In Anime The Most
If it wasn't for galaxy express getting dubbed, I would had never known about it or galaxy express 999. I love that he used UP big boy for galaxy express, it's my second favorite steam engine.
I loved all of leji Matsumoto work and now he is finally resting in the here after but I'm sure he'll have another great story ready for us all when meet him in the afterlife. RIP you legend
Well after 9 months he’s finally back.
It's crazy that there are about some hundred of D51's preserved in Japan compared to the mass-produced PRR L-1's in which only one is preserved.
Same thing with the WD austerity 2-8-0s
There were over 900 built
And BR scrapped them all and the only reason there is a preserved one is because there was one in Sweden that was brought to England
There are 2 D51's were in service: D51 498 & D51 200
999 and Big One... roll on forever...
My favorite train the c62 was used in the brave series such as might gaine, goldran, and dagwon. I really enjoyed transformers transforming from that steam locomotive
Who? Astrotrain?
@@julyleonard yes he was a c62 as well
My very first anime was Galaxy Express 999. I should go back and watch it again, it's been ages since I've seen it all the way through.

Let’s take note that all the locomotives except 1 is Japanese and that one is a Big Boy
Big one
Kikansha Yaemon is the famous locamotive in anime. Deserves new recognition.
I Really Love Japanese Steam Locomotives in Anime The Most
the first 3 i've either heard of, watched, or saw clips of, but the last 3 i've never heard of until now.
'Galaxy Express 999' is based on the 'JNR class C62'
DON'T DELETE THIS AMAZING RUclips VIDEO ! :-D
Wish Big One was at the last of the list. It's my favorite locomotive.
I wanna see someone edit Big One's whistle scenes with that of big boy 4014.

I Iove the JNR Locomotives.
Sadly, Japanese still scraps their Steam Locomotives for various reasons. Money lack, Lazyness, Salt Corrosion or even Tsunami 😢😢😢

Best RUclips Video In The Universe, And I Love It A Lot
I want to see a Pennsylvania T1 Duplex in an anime. Just because the wheel arrangement is 4-4-4-4.
Just like how flying space trains are normal to the average anime watcher, myself included, talking trains are normal to the average train fan.
It's my time to shine!
I’d like to see an anime where there’s a bunch of different Steam Engines from around the world and they’ve all come to compete in a competition.

Kind of makes sense why c62s and D class locomotives were used as they are as I'll put it "The steam locomotives of Japan"
