Mr. steam train from Japanese I know you’re the king but I know your name you are the c62 that be sitting on the front of you is really kind. I know she’s gonna miss you when you go to the city of Japanese but you wanna know my name is The Polar Express
This isn't even the full thing and it already makes me tear up, Mr. C6 manages to convey so much energy despite not having any way of expressing himself other than his voice
not only that, c6 is giving yamataro freedom, something he can't have himself, he's stuck to his rails being a steam locomotive and can be withdrawn and scrap if he can't keep up with the workload
He didn't have a name, just a number. C6 was what they called him. He pulled coaches and trucks all day. He liked his work, but was getting old in his age. Then one day he stopped outside a small station. There, sitting next to a small shop, with a chain collar across it's neck, was a small brown bear.
Didn't even have a number, there should be one after the "C-62" on the numberplates on the smokebox and cab sides, as C-62 only designates what class the engine is, i.e. "C-62 48". I can only assume the animators didn't give Mr. C6 a specific number as so many were cut up for scrap they didn't want the kiddos to get distraught on finding out. In essence, it can represent all of them.
what really gets me is that not only did Mr C6 throw out his chance at preservation, but he did so in a manner that genuinely cost the railway company a lot of money in damages to their rails and infrastructure. and it's beautiful that he did it to keep his friend safe. now i just wonder if those hunters were punished harshly for the derailment since it was their idea and it backfired in such a manner.

Bro.. that was a real tear jerker, but now THIS is the kind of “sentient train” I want, any more “sentient trains” from series similar to this? (aside from the obvious, I.e. TTTE and Chug.)
There was some Digimon-esque anime I saw as a kid with an episode about stopping a sentient train that kept saying “I want to run. I’m going to keep on running!” or something like that. I can’t remember the name of the show unfortunately…
@@GravitWry No no, I mean there's a number of series that have the same tone and style of TTTE, but have a different art style with 'faceless' engines. It was pretty interesting to watch, and had a very clear 'faceless' art style to it (partially because it used a different software, but also I think it was a stylistic choice).
Well, you could try Yaemon! It revolves around a Similar Plot, Engine deemed too old, about to be scrapped, saved just in time. Pretty similar to Stepney and Oliver's stories but, told in a really different way.
I can appreciate the story but I can see why Rev. W Awdry add the faces to his characters Thomas. It helps make a connection with the character. Even with someone like Herbie he has some features that the audience can connect with that resembles a face with his bumper and headlights. And the fact that his whole body moves, rattles and shakes to convey emotion. Mr. C6 has the voice down pat which helps convey the emotion and connection of the character but with out a face or point of focus for the audience to relate to visual, it's a little bit jarring. But I guess the reason why there isn't a face with this so they don't appear as though they are copying the railway series or Thomas completely. There's enough there for it to be similar but it's own thing. That's my two cents on this character. :) Not knocking it in anyway.
