Beautiful. I'm an old gay guy who has suffered differently; the deaths of several close friends to AIDS in NYC in the 1980s; while none were "lovers", they were all good men, brothers, and the dearest friends you could have.
As a service member I had to stopping watching due to flash backs but very loving and I liked this a lot keep up the great work. My Marines never questioned if I would save their life. They always worried who would save mine.
This is amazing. My best friend has active duty boyfriend and hes been having a rough time. I showed this to him and he broke down. He sung this to him when he proposed. thank you dearly
Oh how this made me weep. My dad fought in WWII, was awarded the Silver Star. He survived. Can't begin to know the heartbreak of loved ones whose soldiers didn't . What a gloriously loving tribute this is. My tears continue to flow, as much from gratitude as sorrow.
3 1/2 years later this still brings a tear to my eye. Thank you Tom for a story that finally tells the truth. I lost someone very dear to me in Afghanistan and many years later I still feel his love ... like it says in the video... "Still My Lover" ..... thank you so very much Tom.... I am forever grateful for a wonderful video....
Your lyrics and vision for this emotionally charged subject could not have been better told! I am glad that you shared your thoughts and voice for this important message; Love conquers all. I am proud to be gay and out and so should everyone else, without fear of reprisal, hated or any negativity; it is only a matter of time before society catches up and loving whomever you want, doesn't have a mean or negative connotation.
@cuddlebugbear I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm humbled that "Lover" touches you and reminds you of your own love. Hang in there and hope to see you in person soon.
Tom Goss you are a wonderful man for being simply you, I admire you a lot and I am very moved by your songs, because they are completely comforting and I travel a lot, they take me further. love you
We chatted for a bit on a phone social app. I am the one who suffered the stork. Today I discovered this song. You can not believe how much this has truly touched me. I cried so much. I am a disabled vet from the Gulf War era. Thank you Tom, you don't know how much this song means to me. Please keep the music coming.
Thank you for posting these videos, you have helped me to get through times when I can't be with my friends and the one who holds my heart. You are really good at what you do.
Hello Tom - once upon a time in 1999 I promoted openly gay singer/songwriters - well - because I am one, and I didn't see a whole lot of support out there for us. I found you while doing a google search to see what new artists have come on the scene and I was blown away by this video. Thank you for your work, for your Soul, and for your message. I hope that you continue to make your beautiful moving music. - Shane Bruce, Los Angeles, CA
Tom, this is a such wonderful, painful and touching video about nothing more than pure love. It shouldn't matter in this world who we love as long as we have love. My heart goes out to all the gay service members who have gone through this incredible hardship alone. Thank you for this wonderful video.
Thank you, I lost my love and soldier almost 40 years ago now. We have been there forever and hidden. This is a wonderful thing you have done. Thank you
Spoiler alert do not read this if you have not watched the video. This song always makes me cry I go from "Oh a happy ending thank god, now pass me the hankies" to "He died, sod the hankies they're not upto the job pass me the 5 gallon homebrew buckets". I so wanted it to have a happy ending. Thankfully there is always Bears to go to after this.
its memorial day, and now again I will watch, cry, reflect, and thank you again for sharing a song that should be shown on every national channel, billboard and newspaper in the freaking world. thanks again Tom. I met you through this song. Your amazing. but then i guess you already knew that. hugs
Hi, I am an Army wife not US but military is military every where. I know what you talk about here. my husband was in active duty sometime back. he is safely back. but there were so many who did not make it back. that makes my heart ache to think about all those who lost a loved one in a battle field. And to be a silent partner, I just can't imagine hoe hard that is. I just hope and pray that DADT is lifted every where and all military spouses treated equally. great job. god bless!!!
Thank you so much. This will be passed on via fb. I am in tears. Thank you to all service members and to you for sharing this heartfelt story. Much love from Wisconsin.
I am so glad that I’ve met you and can share now your songs... pity that I can’t express myself in my mother tongue which could enable me to tell you how much your music inspires me! You are just GREAT Tom 💚
Tom what great song and video you put together. It's so powerful and captures it so beautifully. You are great at what you do. Continue writing these amazing songs. Al and Rich from Washington Hugs to you!
AWESOME !! tomgossmusic Most all my male counterparts in my Family have served, I could not cause of a heart defect . Thank you for this song, it means the world to me and many others !!!! :) I'm sharing on FB ! and other PLACES !
One of the most emotional songs here on youtube today. A beautiful song, nothing can go wrong with it. My first video I cried to, hysterically. I slipped into an anxiety attack short after. It holds so much meaning.
Tom, great video! Thank you to my friend Allen329 for sharing it with me. As the wife of an Army Sgt, I know how important it is to get DADT thrown out forever. This video is powerful. May the message reach every heart out there!
I interviewed Tom Goss for my LGBT Radio Show (The Tenth Voice KKFI Kansas City) and this song is my ringtone for when my husband of 40 years calls me. I take time to answer the call because I absolutely love this song. Thank you Tom Goss - my dear, dear friend!!!
to continue those were my partners last words, he went back into a coma and died the next morning at 7;00 am. . I was fortunate in many ways that his sister accepted me as his dear friend and lover.. what got to me is haveing no family or friends to turn to at the time for comfort. sorry this may not go with your video but had to get it outr. thank you so much for such a touching song. big bear hugs from a fan
Stumbled upon this......what a fortunate stumble! This is so powerful. It made me cry and then it fired up anger. Anger that in 2010 a gay serviceman can be awarded for killing a man and punished for loving a man. Thank you for this song.
Oh my god, I'm balling like a little baby. Time to listen to Bears to get me back happy. Great voice, I'm buying you video and music. Thanks for making music, it touches my soul.
Very moving Tom. I've watched this more than a dozen times and it still gets to me. Although DADT no longer exists, it's still a poignant reminder of the separation and loss too many gay service members and those that love them endure. May it one day stop.
i own it, got it from amazon, will be listening to it all the time, i don't know if you read these comments or not but all i have to say is, you are my hero for this. i am proud of all humans that serve and protect the freedoms that i have, no matter the color, the sexual orientation...you have my heart....thank you so much for doing this.
I don't know what it is about your videos or you voice or anything but I found your songs today and I am just enticed and Preacher's Son was the first song I listened to and watching this video and listening to it after that one has me in tears. Grates. Keep it up.
Welcome to a talented singer song writer. I recomend "Breath and Sound" you may need a few more hankies for it as it is tear makingly beautiful, "Illuminate the Dark" and "Bears" for your next ones to listen to/watch.
Powerful... I was deeply moved by the depth of the journey the lyrics and video took me. As an EMT-A who could not serve his country myself, I appreciate the message you are sending to the world. My wish as well, is that in the future, anyone who is willing and is capable will be allowed to represent and service for our country.
It's been a year since I last watched this. Made the mistake of watching it the first time on the anniversary of losing my Army boy, and it still brings up a maelstrom of memories of Dennis. Thank you Tom.
What a beautiful song ! I just can't explain what I felt while I was listening to. This song is amazing, I really wanna say thank you for having recorded it. Greetings from México !!
I agree. Breath and Sound and Son Of A Preacher Man are a couple more you may want to listen to. He's the only singer who I can use another vid of his to cheer myself up after watching two of his other vids/listening to two of his songs. I discovered Tom through Bears, the one that cheers me up, then went on to listen to more of his songs. He is one of those happy accident discoveries that are the best finds you have.
Wow beautiful. I never thought that I would ever see this, a day were those who fight for our freedom can live freely themselves. Let alone a song honoring the pain left behind in the loss. Thank you for this song Tom. I'm more than sure that this bit of music you have shared with the world had helped at least one person out there barely holding on.
Every once in a while I do this to myself. I look at videos I've bookmarked and played this one. ONCE AGAIN, I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out. ONE DAY, maybe not today, tomorrow, next year or next decade, but ONE DAY, everyone WILL be seen as equal under the law.
ever time I watch this video it brings tears to my eyes remebering the loss I went through of the loss of my partner of 5 years. he was not in the military but died from pancreatic cancer after fightling it for a year. he died 2 days after our 5th anniversary. it got to the point he was in a coma and I knew he was hanging on just for me. I had to let him go and told him it was ok for him to let go that I would be ok. at that moment he came to long enough to say thank you and that he loved me
oh......so sad .....so deep.....i have no words.....listenning to this song i have only tears in my eyes and my lover in my heart....Tom - you are an angel !
How can anyone not like this? You made me cry again. Another wonderful video. I'm going to order your nerdy bear apron. My hubby is a wonderful cook I think it will be a great gift!
I absolutely love this song and many of your others! I have been with my partner for 12 years, and I don't know what I would do if I lost him. I find so much inspiration from him. Your music is amazing, and I am so glad that a lot of your inspiration comes from the man you love! Now, lets see if I can watch this again without crying in my office! :-)
omg i stopped by again, to watch it, it just rips me apart, it makes me wish i had done more, it makes me proud to be gay, it makes me feel guilty, i could keep going on and on about all the emotions that it pulls out of me whether i want it to or not. You must be one hell of a guy to have wrote this put it too music. all of the love you give, and believe me it shows in your music. my goal to watch this and not cry, hasn't happen yet, maybe one day it will. thanks again for making me think/feel
Fantastic work Tom! I can't stop watching and crying. This was already my favorite song, now I love it even more, if it's possible :-) I will share the link with everyone I know. Thank you for the wonderful work you're doing!

thanks for the perspective. I will always think of holding my partner with you singing this.... Thanks for the beautiful and also challenging lyrics and music...
I am in the service and this made me break down and cry. It also made me so happy that I have my husband and we can be open about us to people.

Also, love the concept. I hope to see another album.
