    Short of it, Erebus is that guy in fiction that is in the background scheming and manipulating events while doing an evil laugh. He was a secret chaos worshiper that set himself up as an advisor while giving advice to push people to the preverbal dark side. The Emperor Palpatine of the setting in a way.
    40K also has this thing where being nice is kind of a death wish. Like the psyker thing. Not burning them at the stake is the right thing to do during the Age of Strife but people that didn't do the burning are all dead because daemons invaded. Those that did survived. Even in 40k there are a lot of stories where people try to not be prejudice jerks and work with xenos or xenos work with them only to get back stabbed. Ruthless paranoia lets you live longer in that universe.

    I've always wondered if the Necrontier were Blanks. It would explain why the old ones weren't willing to help. simply because they couldn't. Also it used to be a thing that the necron would convert human blanks into more troops. but that's been retconed recently.

    • @SarthorS
      @SarthorS 6 месяцев назад

      The Old Ones were creators of life, while the short, horrible lives of the Necrontyr had made them a brutal race. They had already genocided multiple alien species which is why The Old Ones didn't want to basically make them even more powerful.
      I also don't know of anything to suggest they were blanks. After all, the C'tan consumed their souls. But, what would happen if a C'tan tried to consume the soul of a blank? Do blanks actually have a soul? Do they have an anti-soul? Would it give a C'tan indigestion?

    Funny bit of lore on Warhammer 40k, The Emperor of Mankind knew of the Chaos gods because he had dealt with them on occasion, and in fact is where he gained the knowledge of how to create his Primarchs and the Space Marine Legions. The Emperor of Mankind wanted to base the galaxy upon Reason and Logic, which is why he massacred anyone with religious fervor, the reason being is that the Chaos Gods fed on such Religious and emotional aspects. The idea was that a Galaxy ruled by Logic and Reason would starve the Chaos Gods of the emotions and such they fed upon.

  • @Stickarms99
    @Stickarms99 10 месяцев назад +10

    Interesting how you talk about the Emperor not being so bad, while not liking the Imperium. This is extremely intentional, actually.
    The Emperor's personal bodyguards, the Custodians, have went out of their way to make it clear that they don't serve the Imperium, they only serve the Emperor. They're the Emperor's closest friends and confidants; and in their minds, there's a very clear separation between those things. Technically, they aren't even a part of the Imperium.
    Now, there's also evidence to suggest that the Emperor has completely lost his fucking mind in the 10,000 years he's spent channeling the souls of psychers while holding back the demons of the Warp. Even though he has no more real agency to do anything, he's now at the point where it would be unwise to restore him back to full power because his mind and personality is completely broken. But that's not his fault; it's a result of the burden he's been bearing for his beloved people and sons.

    • @TheAngryXenite
      @TheAngryXenite 5 месяцев назад

      It should also be noted that, as shown in the Horus Heresy books, the Emperor on the Golden Throne is NOT the same man who unified Terra, created the Primarchs, led the Great Crusade, etc. Horus was so unbelievably powerful that to match him, the Emperor began sucking up ungodly levels of power from the Warp, and in the process was fulfilling an ancient prophecy which would see him become the Dark King: a new Chaos God representing the innate urge of Chaos to render all existence down to nothing (Encroaching Ruin). He was convinced to abandon this path once he caught wind of what he was bringing into existence, and ejected the power he'd taken, along with the majority of his compassion, empathy, and love, because he could not afford to be burdened with it when the time came to fight and kill his beloved son. The heartless bastard that Guilliman met in Master of Mankind was always a part of who his dad was, but now it's the only thing of him left.

  • @thomaschitham3487

    Couple other details to know: Humanity's primate ancestors were also made by the Old Ones, the War in Heaven ended when a Warp race known as the Enslavers showed up and either killed or chased off most of the Old Ones and their races, and the Emperor was born by a bunch of ancient human shamans seeing the threat of Chaos and ritualistically sacrificing themselves to make the Emperor to fight them.
    Oh, and the Orks were once the Krorks and were, at minimum, 12 metres tall*. Yes, Metres. But (supposedly) a lack of good fighting de-evolved them.
    *For context, a Warboss that was at least 10 metres tall was powerful enough to lead a Waaagh! that almost destroyed the entire Imperium. They even managed to invade Terra.
    Have fun!

    • @lich109
      @lich109 11 месяцев назад +2

      Where's the source on the Enslavers killing the Old Ones?
      Also the Beast's WAAAGH! invaded the Solar Segmentum, not Terra.

      @thomaschitham3487 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@lich109 The WAAAGH! invaded Terra with an Attack Moon in the Throneworld Novel.
      As for the Enslavers, Codex: Necrons (3rd Edition), though it leaves it ambiguous if the Old Ones became fully extinct or if some of them managed to flee (for example, Qah was still alive after that, and they are implied to have been an Old One). However, what is confirmed is that the Enslavers assaulted the Old Ones strongholds and brought an end to their galactic civilisation by using the psychic races the Old Ones created as thrall armies and gateways for more Enslavers.

    • @lich109
      @lich109 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@thomaschitham3487 No, it invaded the Segmentum Solar. Perhaps I'm misremembering, but I do not recall them actually launching an invasion of Terra at all, they just threatened they would once the moon was poised over Terra.
      Also that Codex is now very much out of date. The 5th edition Codex confirms they are all dead, and it wasn't from the Enslavers.
      I would still like a page citation however, I just scanned through my copy of 3rd edition Necrons and I do not see what you are referencing.

    • @thomaschitham3487
      @thomaschitham3487 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@lich109 For the Attack Moon, I will admit there was a mis-remembering of details. The Orks did put an Attack Moon in orbit around Terra, but they didn't launch forces from it to Terra's surface. Instead all the fighting was from defending itself from invading Imperial Fleet and boarding forces. After which it sent down an Ork Ambassador that told them to surrender, the Imperials said no, then tried again and kind of cut off the Ork reinforcements but did not destroy the moon (Yet; stuff happens later).
      But regardless, the Orks did not launch an invasion force to Terra's surface itself during that time when the Moon was in orbit. That I admit fault to.
      As for the Enslaver thing for 3rd Edition, page 26 under the section that says "The Apocalypse Looms".
      Many 40k lore buffs, and even the wiki, still treat the Enslavers as canon, so I did as well. But if you don't, then I cannot argue.

    • @lich109
      @lich109 10 месяцев назад +1

    The Emperor is not a fluffy kitten either. Yes, he was trying to advance humanity, save it from extinction. However, he was UTTERLY ruthless the second you refused to obey him, and saw EVERYONE and EVERYTHING as tools and means to an end. So much so, that I really question, why would a person with zero empathy to human beings care at all about survival of their species as a whole? Like, why even bother if you give precisely zero point zero zero fluffs about humans? I have no answer to that question.

    try the "40k timeline explained by trazyn"
    gives a real overseight of the 40k timeline, not with the focus on the imperium
    the imperium as such is a relative new thing compared to the 40k timeline as such
    sure the imperial sight is very dominating, but they are "just" one of many factions living in 40k
    so the "timeline explained from trazyn" gives a quite neutral overseigt, mentioning the most major fractions and how the actual fit in the greater picture of 40k

    Bricky got the order wrong. After the cybernetic revolt, where humanity was almost destroyed by it's own A.I., the increasing depravity of the Eldar is what made The Warp too dangerous to travel. The birth of Slaanesh is what marked the end of The Age of Strife as her formation absorbed a great deal of the excess energy that made The Warp so turbulent.

    One thing that is sort of important to add to the Eldar debauchery is that death was not as big a deal as we think of it being. At the time of the eldar empire the eldar where capable of rebirth. So death was "just another experience" an extreme one to be sure but the eldar psyche is strong enough to stay conscious in the warp until rebirth thus killing is less of an issue they also had technology to regenerate a body so a killed eldar could essentially be reborn in it's old body. The Dark eldar still use this technology.

    Erebus' deal, in short, is that he was a servant of Chaos who told Horus that in the future, The Emperor would be worshiped as a god, humanity would abandon all of the principles of the Great Crusade, and the Imperium would fall to ruin. Which was all true, but Erebus twisted the facts to make it sound like that was what the Emperor wanted, as though the Emperor would betray his own principles. Instead, by trying to prevent that horrible future, Horus guaranteed it would occur.
    Unsurprisingly, no one likes Erebus very much.

    those flickering images are of Alpharius and/or Omegon. Twin primarchs of the 20th, the Alpha Legion (...so there were actualy 21 primarchs). Alpharius might have actualy been the first primarch to be discovered, or never taken in the first place.
    20th legion is all about deception. Even the fact that it had two primarchs instead of one was a secret. Officialy the last legion to be fully formed and reunited with their primarch, it operated long time before that under falls flags. Officialy a traitor legion, but their allegience is unknown. Every member shaped to be a mirror image of their primarch, or friend/foe they are impersonating.
    Multi-headed snake of sleeper cells, disconected warbands and hidden operatives entangeling the galaxy with its scales beyond counting.

    OR, you would be lobotomized, mind wiped and disected and be turned into a half cyborg slave to serve Humanity for such heresy. Aptly named, a servitor.
    With high chance that the mind wiping would not be completely succesful and thus your mind would fall into relapse.
    While in your zombie like state, half cyborg body doing chores for the citizens of the Imperium, you would have a small speck of memory of your previous life as a human, mumbling to yourself and recalling your final horrible moments before the surgery and then, returning to your routine protocol that you were assigned to. All that for the rest of eternity or until you fall into disrepair.

      Nah, I dunno if you are actually asking why he said genshin impact but I will say it anyway. Well because there is like a joke that basically people say about genshin players, is that they y’know “don’t have a life” “don’t touch grass” “no bitches” “pedos” or…..in this case he is saying that Nurgle is genshin, because he is fat, ugly, smelling, rotting, just basically mocking the player base and the game. Because me and like quite a small group of people, just don’t like genshin.
      So it is basically a joke that genshin impact “haters” like myself

    tolkien didnt create that idea of elves. Like all things tolkien they were drawn from british myths, namely the tuatha de denaan
    Bricky gets soooo much wrong but hes funny so its ok. Though the bit about commoragh is particularly egregious. The dark eldarbwere created after the fall of the eldar and commoragh was mostly protected from the warp being a small webway port at the time, its vect that turned commoragh into what it is and he was a child survivor of the fall having seen it first hand.
    Also the imperium is not fascist i dont know where this idea comes from. It seems people are confusing uniforms with ideology. The imperium is actually an extremely hands off empire allowing most planets to live however they choose. As long as they pay theor taxes and worship the emepror as state religion.
    The other thing is this everyone is the bad giy thing is so wrong. Everyone is what you want them to be would be a better way of saying it EVERY race has a good justification for what it does whilst simultaneously commiting horrendous acts, everyone can be the bad guy OR THE GOOD GUY depending on your tastes. Everyone is the bad guy is just an edgelord take imho

    Let's see... The Changer of Ways, His adherents and the ones that are not his adherents get messed with. One time Birdboy found a random hole in the warp and casually decided to throw one of his demons into it to see what happens.
    As for you, you only like him because of a small genetic mutation in your genes 15 generations ago. Just a single switch that would lead you to be more accepting of his influence. From there he'll use you as a conduit to ensure everyone understands Magnus did nothing wrong, because he didn't or did he? Which will lead to another fight that causes one person to get butt hurt that leads this person to commit to studying astrophysics which leads to a person designing the first reuseable craft that will allow us to reach Mars. That's good right? Wrong! Why? Well that's a spoiler, and aren't you a jerk for thinking like that? Are you seriously thinking I just stopped making up random stuff? Not at all that is how the glorious Changer of Ways works! By the way, he told me to write all of that. "Hi!" In the end everything goes just as planned, except when it doesn't but in fact it was as planned because I planned for that plan to fail in order to propogate my next big scheme. What is the difference between a scheme and a plan anyway? Why am I wasting so much time typing this? What is time anyway? *BLAM*
