I am so glad I decided to look up this issue! Didn't even notice the card had a tiny fragment missing, followed your steps and out it fell. So quick and easy to fix something that has been bugging me for months, so thanks!

I can’t tell you how delighted I am to have seen this! Last night I was sure my camera was broken. Found your video this morning and turned my camera over and out fell the culprit. So simple. Thank you so much. I would never have thought of doing that. My card still works though 🥳

OMG - I have to admit, I was VERY skeptical, that something so bad could be so simple to fix. You just saved me a ton of money, I did EXACTLY what you suggested, and sure enough, a piece of plastic (probably from a cheap sd card) dropped out, in fact, it almost fell straight into my eye. I tested out my card slot right after, and I am in business again ! Thank you

Hello, my cannon camera is having some similar issues but I cant find anything online; with my battery alone in the camera it can turn on but when I add the SD card the camera suddenly is unable to turn on? and when I take the sd card out again it can turn back on? Do you have an idea of what this could be?

I would try doing what I did in the video. If it doesn't just fall out, shake it or make it vibrate, which may dislodge that piece. Do Not go digging in there for it or you may bend or break one of the pins and that would require a major costly fix.

@@Photillustrator UPDATE: so the card goes in easily now. however, when I turned the camera on, I got the notification that "Card's lock activated" - My lock was off, I tried 2 cards. So, I had to go back in. Using a tiny Allen Wrench turned upside down, I "scrubbed" at the area where the lock detect is located. BAM! That worked. So not only did the card insert and exit difficulties get fixed, the issue with fake lock detection got fixed too. Don't ask me how one was related to the other, I never had gotten the lock card notification, until I got that little piece out of the bottom. Strange huh?

  • @timfehl6230

Thank you for you tip. Using the tripod gave me the precise angle and elevation to remove the pieces that jammed the slot. I let gravity do the work as you suggested, but did require some finagling to get the piece to drop. The pins or contacts are very delicate so it requires a delicate touch so as not to damage them, but I did find there is adequate space below the pins that the pieces will fall between. For larger or longer pieces, they can slide diagonally between the pins. You may have to learn to become a contortionist as you adjust your body’s orientation to the job. Most important is patience and care. Don’t rush the job. I used a sewing needle, a pen light and the tripod to do the job. Would prefer micro tweezers and lighted magnification, but had to do with what I had. Anyway, my comment was to thank you for the tripod tip, but I hope my tips can help someone else. Cheers.

Thank you for making this video. I just bought this camera not too long ago and this happened to me. at first it didnt go in either and i keep forcing it and blowing on in. It came in and the camera couldn't read the card. I found this video and i realized that the card broked off and stuck in the card slot. Got it out using your method, but the camera still couldnt read the card still. I looks closer to the prongs inside the slot and found one that is pushing down due to the broken piece of the card. I took a small paper clip, bend the tip of it half way and use a steady hand to bend it back up. Thanks goodness it work again!

Thank you so much , at first I didn’t believe that it chipped but it did chip on the other end of the SD card which got stuck into the slot !! Make sure you guys double check everything , the piece that’s in the slot can blend into it so make sure you have a flashlight and something to pick it out

The top comment alone helped me with the issue. Just needed to lightly tap my camera with it upside down with the slot open, and nothing came out but it still worked!
