  • I had the problem that my SD card did not eject on my Nikon D90 anymore. The SD card slot did not eject the cards anymore. In here I show an easy fix for this issue. This fix works on most if not all digital cameras.
    A little more difficult, but worth a try • Nikon SD Card/Slot Repair
    How do you pronounce Nikon? Read it here, and have a Japanese guy say it correctly:

    Change the title to “How to Use a MicroSD to SD Card Adapter” and you’ll get much less hate.

    Gratz. You found a workaround. You didn't really fix the problem though.

    Here is an easy fix i just did mine and works perfect.
    Get a small dental floss brush (Cylindrical mini bottle brush)
    Remove battery and card
    Spray CO (electronic) cleaner onto brush
    Insert brush into slot rotate brush and clean pins inside slot
    Let it dry for a few minutes as CO cleaner evaporates and leaves no residue
    Insert card,enjoy!!!
    If you don't have CO contact cleaner you could use Pure Alcohol but let it dry completely

    i thought youll fix the problem of the slot... all you did is place the microsd card in a card reader.....

    What an awesome intelligent common sense approach. I am going to do that to my Sony A33. My problem is the SD card will not stay in...keeps popping out. Will secure the card installed and use the mini-SD adapter. THANK YOU

      mygiguser OK...I got my microsdcard and adapter. I pushed it into card slot...hot glued (very little) on edges of card adapter...and now IT WORKS GREAT AGAIN!!! Thanks! Did not have to take my camera apart!!!

    you didnt fix it but you now have a work around. How does the spring eject get broken in the first place? is it from pulling out the sd card without pushing it in first? This has happened to a machine of mine but caused by someone else using the machine not me. Is it possible to repair the mechanism or does it require a replacement?

    • @mygiguser
      @mygiguser  10 лет назад

      Well, I think I made the mistake to eject and insert it too often. I often take only a handful pictures, and then instead of using a USB cable, use the card in an external card reader.
      In order to really fix the original slot, I would have to replace the hole mechanism, and that will be expensive, because you have to take the camera apart. I try to avoid this as much as possible. The Mini SD card can be pulled out easily, and does not show wear at all.

    So my big question is, were you able to get the pictures off the card you pulled out?? I am sure you wouldn't want to use it again in the camera but I currently have 300+ wedding photos on mine that is stuck and the last thing I want to do is force it out if I won't be able to read the card after.

      +purrization This is exactly what happened to me and it was my 3300 as well. Seems to me like Nikon has a manufacturing issue that they should have corrected regarding the card slot.

    So the Nikon DSLR now becomes a phone camera with the new micro SD card holder in it.

    • @mygiguser
      @mygiguser  5 лет назад

      Not quite. That camera is better than a phone.

      For indoors and low light fast action, yes the capabilities of a true DSLR or a mirrorless camera is way better and creative than what most phone cameras can do. But for outdoors in very good lighting, sorry but I beg to disagree. You could only benefit from DSLR's big sensor in low lighting and fast action giving you added bonus of cleaner shots. But modern phone cameras today have fixed good lenses and good enough CMOS sensors that it gives almost identical result in the most ideal lighting conditions. In fact here in our Philippines, I've seen many doing models photoshoot nature outdoors in good lighting and with using reflectors pointing the sun's lighting into the shades of a tree where the model is standing. Even some of the latest "OPPO" China branded phones have outstanding camera in it. If I would have to assess: All camera bodies are generic (even a smarphone is a camera body), the quality changers are in the lens. We have a Facebook group here in the Philippines called GP Photographers' group and I tell you many pictures shared by mobile photographers you won't believe were just taken by a phone, even the long exposure night shots is unbelievable! I have also seen some Milky Way shots taken by a phone camera that I couldn't get with my Nikon D300. I don't know what particular apps the phone is using for long exposures, but I tell you it surpasses the quality of my older camera (my Nikon D3000 DSLR is just crap). Fit that latest iPhone with an f2.8 aperture lens and it would be on par or maybe better than a Nikon D90 with a kit lens. Even cameras on the latest In fact, my older Panasonic DMC FZ70 superzoom point and shoot digicam is on par with my newer Nikon D7100 with Sigma 17-50m f2.8 lens when the resulting pictures are pixel peeped on the PC monitor, sometimes pictures are even sharper on the FZ70 with both lens set on f2.8. Of course in low light there you will see noticeable grain produced by the FZ70, but in very good lighting with both cameras set at ISO200 you won't barely see any difference at all.

    I have a nikond750 and this totally messed up my sd card slot! I was able to fix it but this is clearly not a solution to all nikon cameras. Ripping the card out did not work. I will have to send my camera in to nikon to fix. DO NOT TRY.
