Add WiFi to any Camera with a WiFi SD card!

- It's possible to add WiFi to any camera, including that old DSLR sitting on your shelf.
in this video, I show a simple but clever SD card that has built in WiFi and allows you to transfer pictures from your camera to your phone, tablet or laptop without connecting any wires and without installing any apps.
Wi-Fi enabled SD cards are quite a bit more expensive than their regular counterparts but they're extremely convenient if you want to be able to access and share your photos while on the go.
I'm using the Transcend 16GB Wi-Fi SDHC card but there are other manufacturers who also sell similar products.
For the techies out there, believe it or not, the card is actually running a Linux OS and you can get root access to install extra scripts and apps. Of course it's quite limited due to the low-power CPU and small amount of RAM.

I just found this too, but the reviews and their bad connections to wifi. That is what I am seeing now, just as I too was considering buying them.

Actually,the dslr you are using does have live view! I think you can find a menu on the settings and then use the circle set button to activate that function.
So as long as I have this WiFi could I connect to “Canon Connect” app?

what is more impressive is that the sd card is a mini linux computer hosting a web server!
have you used transcend app , works much better to instant backup, also there are Chinese version of this SD support both ap and station mode .

Oh man, that is funny... I am in the same boat! I have heard of this ability but never took the time to look it up and se how it works! I love the quality of shots my DSLR takes but then my wife goons me that they are left on the SD card and never viewed again, this is a wonderful solution!

already do, but it is in the form of a micro sd card adapter. It is the same as these cards but take micro sd cards.

Thanks, I'll give this a go. When I'm out "hunting" with my camera I worry about backing up and editing my photos. I never take a laptop on my travels but always my phone with decent editing software in it. This might just make life alot easier for me.

Highly unlikely, since this is a storage device. Your camera would need to provide this functionality.

Thanx for the informative video. Now, if it hasn't been asked before: how big of a drain on the camera's battery is the constant usage of the card's WI-FI? Does it significantly decrease the number of available shots? Also, you never mentioned anything about the speed of transfer if you do multiple image transfers. How fast time-wise, say, it can transfer 500MB worth of data? Does it require a special proprietary software for a laptop? And lastly, what is the card's working range: how many feet you can be away from your computer - have you tried it?

The camera you are using have live view.. just check the settings. But you can use the live view for manual mode only..
Settings.. live view function settings.. enable live view shooting..😉
this is so much cheaper than upgrading to a dslr with built in wifi

Can I do the opposite and send video files wireless from phone files and send to the sd card and then display on camera? Basically inverse ??
Looks promising, still if I'm correct photos do not transfer automatically so you can't just to go tablet and scroll thought your files (which you can if u have canon dslr with wifi, and pair both devices).

+Gitesh Gaonkar no it doesn't :) the SD card creates its own wifi network that you can connect to from your device. No internet or other hardware required.

what about "Video live view" and laptop tethering from Capture One (for example) is still working
Unfortunately the SD card doesn't support any advanced features like that.

The downside is those cards are slow and small capacity and cost way more. I Plug my card into my
Phone with adapter and download way faster.
