The metal part from the first example is not the problem but in fact absolutely essential for the slot to work. If all parts inside the slot are not broken then all you need to do is put the little C-shaped wire back in the right place. The metal cover holds the part in place so you must remove it carefuly (not as shown in the video), insert the longer bent end of the wire into the hole that will be probably located on the side of the slot and the shorter end into the strange looking groove on side of the plastic slider that holds the spring. Then put back the metal cover. I just fixed a broken xD card slot in my Olympus E-520 camera this way, now it works perfectly again. I only assume that this SD slot is based on the same principle.
When I opened my sd card slot that little metal piece was gone. Not sure where it went or what happened but it sucks all the same.
this is great because at the laptop repair company we are at was replacing motherboards for this issue, saving us a lot of $$$
wow... ur laptop SD card reader is separated from the motherboard, that made it easier to replace the board

I took one of the cards that fall out of magazines and cut off three pieces the size of the sd card. I slid the card into the slot with the three paper pieces on the top of the card letting them stick a little. The paper puts a bind on the card and makes it stay in. To remove just push in on the card and then pull out on the paper.

Should be called more of a "workaround" rather than fix. You're not fixing it, you're just making it so it doesn't push back out when you push it in. You could also just push it in and hold it in until you're done copying from/to it. :) I'd like to know if there;s a way to actually fix that metal pin to make it catch again, I can't tell how that happens by watching this. But it is good information to know!
If it's the card reader contacts inside the camera itself, (Sony's are infamous for this) spray alcohol on sd card contacts and insert-eject 20-30 times, it worked great for me.
Here is an easy fix i just did mine and works perfect.
Get a small dental floss brush (Cylindrical mini bottle brush)
Remove battery and card
Spray CO (electronic) cleaner onto brush
Insert brush into slot rotate brush and clean pins inside slot
Let it dry for a few minutes as CO cleaner evaporates and leaves no residue
Insert card,enjoy!!!
You could use pure Alcohol but make sure you let it dry.
another fix would b to put a velcro setup that u use to keep the card pushed in. hope that helps.

i dont know what to do my SD card is stuck in my laptop half way in an half way out in goes in but wont come completely out an i try pull it out its jammed on something i dont know what to do any help Please?
i would try what is shown in video, short of spending money to have it repaired. u do so at ur own risk of breaking something. just b careful & gentle.

While I did find the video helpful, especially regarding visualizing the disassembly of the reader parts... This man has such a brutalist technique for electronics repair.. No finesse at all... lol

@@musicsansx3748 it works... just like crap, though. He didn't reassemble the spring mechanism that ejects the SD card. You have to pry it out every time you want to eject the card.
this is not a solution this is damaging slot permanently
