I love all of the DS watercolors but REALLY adore the prima tek and the lunar paints with all that beautiful granulation They also have paints like cascade green that floculate
I have never painted with watercolors. The painting turned out very beautiful. These watercolors are vibrant, loved the pyro red. It was the star of the show!
Intense colours can be fun, but I have seen some who can't really control it. I am a colourist & love it. I particularly liked how you could put orange over green over blue over grey and it all still is visible and clean & bright.
I highly recommend the Daniel Smith Watercolor Dot Sample card. It has actual dots of the watercolor paint on it that you can wet and extend to see the colors in various concentrations. I will no longer fumble around ordering expensive colors without testing out the color first now that I have the sample card. My favorite colors are the Perylenes and then Moonglow.
I love paint comparisons. Lately, I have been experiencing myself with them and can see some differences, but they all "so far" seem to work quite lovely. Enjoyed the video and especially the painting. Thumbs up and shared!
I firmly believe in the old adage "You get what you pay for". So true with Daniel Smith watercolours. You have put them to good use in your lovely, fresh landscape. I also love using white gouache mixed with watercolours to acheive strong lights over dark.
Interesting that you painted those bright reds over the darks. Did you just use thick paint? Looks like the darks were still wet? Or is it the quality of the paints?
The darks are still wet. This is important with watercolours in the second and third layers. You drop in washes wet into wet. Let the colors work it out for themselves 😊
Do you use Daniel Smith watercolors? What are your favorite colors?

I do. Love all of them 😊
Beautiful. II e been painting with watercolors for seven years and am impressed you can do this without creating blooms.
Thanks Greta, I just go for it and hope for the best. Watercolor is so unpredictable.
You’re as bold with these as you are with acrylics nice 😎
Thank you!

Thank you Kamlesh. Give watercolors a try one day - you never sure how it will turn out :)
Beautiful intense colors. You've featured them well in your lovely landscape painting.
Many thanks
Such beautiful water colours I must try them. Thanks for the great demo
My pleasure 😊

Thank you - less is more unless you get carried away 😀

Coming up next 😄
Thank you, Malcom. I appreciate you naming the colors as you use them. Often the artist just picks up paint on his brush without saying what it is.
You are very welcome
I like it It inspires me so 😊
Moonglow. Great for moody shadows.

Agreed - Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful watercolour Malcolm, wonderful colours. (Where’s the little person? 😉)
Thanks, he stepped behind the tree for a moment 😇
Fantastic... Loved it.
Thank you Ronald!
