Being a cool climate, Tassie does autumn beautifully. I love the slow metamorphosis of full foliage to Shakespeare's "bare ruin'd choirs". Your autumn bookmarks tell such a story. Thank you.
I imagine Tasmania is similar to the UK but I could be wrong. We don’t have much colour in my part of Brittany because the trees are mainly oaks and they don’t turn until December in this climate. I’m from southern England and we have beautiful autumn colour there, which I do miss sometimes x
Having some vision problems so I can’t watch, but I wanted you to know, my dear Diane, I’m saving EVERYTHING for when I can paint again. I can’t wait! You keep me wanting to try regardless of the end product. ❤
Thanks so much for your support Karen, I’m sorry to hear you are struggling with vision problems - have you had surgery? I hope all goes well and you are back viewing and painting again soon, and sending you my prayers and love for a quick complete recovery xxxx
Thankyou for doing the Autumn trees Diane what an inspiring way of producing a lovely tree by using a stencil brush. The simplicity, colours and doing bookmarks is a great way to show these delightful trees off without the daunting prospect of painting all over leaves 🍃 🍁. Looking forward to further tree tutorials absolutely wonderful xx🥰🏴
Oh dear friends, your kindness means so much. My God, my family, a new granddaughter on the way, two faithful dogs and an old horse all sustain me and push me forward. I look for ward to play with the beautiful colors and the waters that have always amazed me. Diane is my favorite teacher. The eye thing goes back years. Just diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, some rare annoying neuromuscular thingamabob that must learn to work around. Life is full of surprises. Just like watercolor! 🥰
My best friend in England from college years ago has had MG for about 40 years and had great treatment from doctors in the states. Wishing you well with it xxx
Hi Diane, thank you for your tutorials. I give dinner parties and have been making bookmarks with the name of the individuals as seating guides and they take them home as a remembrance of an evening with friends.
These are beautiful! The stippling was effective. I really like each one of the styles or methods. You are really doing vibrant colors this summer, and each picture is great!
So many strategies to try. I may combine the branches from #4 with the layered marks from #1. Then again I may wash a damp brush over the top. All are beautiful in different ways. Can’t wait to start playing.
These are beautiful, Diane. I can’t wait for the landscape tutorial to come. I love making bookmarks and donating them to my community library. Do you think you could do a hot air balloon tutorial sometime? There’s a big balloon festival here in New Brunswick in September and it would be fun to paint something with that theme. Maybe tie them in with your fall tree tutorial? 😊. Love your tutorials. Thank you for your hard work and sharing your passion with me.
Painted this with my grandson - Meeden paints and paper, with a liberal dash of Brusho (his favourite). I’m so grateful to you and Tamsin for all your creativity, encouragement and hard work.
Thankyou for doing the Autumn trees Diane what an inspiring way of producing a lovely tree by using a stencil brush. Thank you so very much for your wonderful tutorials. You are so patient and kind with your instructions, guiding us along on our journey to learn watercolor for ourselves. I can hardly wait see what you have for us to try. God bless you.
Your tone of voice and accent make it so easy to follow your instruction. Thank you for this lesson, Diane. I am trying to loosen up my method of painting. You are teaching me how to paint from the heart. Less perfection!
Listening to you tell your stories. Or just gently ramble. Is so comforting to me. Your sense of humor. I love thatYou’re still down to earth. I watched Rice but after awhile I couldn’t deal with all that energy and high and mighty attitude . Focused on Selling products. I learn a lot from you without feeling like I need the absolute best of things. Being okay to try things and fail. . I also learned that the expectation of perfection is a silly reason to do nothing. Some things are bad but it’s a learning experience. You are inspiring. You help me move forward. So thank you. 💙🦋
Hello Diane, I hope that you are feeling better. I did find a chapter time schedule in your description. Yay! I am so, so very happy that you are doing this fundraiser. I didn't even know that such a company exists. Wow! How wonderful! Thank you for informing us. I am awaiting my new credit card, but when I get it, I will participate. I am very much pro tree planting because in my understanding, trees remove the effect of the greenhouse effect that we have been experiencing. Here, in Miami, we have had the hottest July on record ever. The temperatures were in the 35 C range, but it felt like it was 44 C. YIKES! I have not even been able to bike around my neighborhood, much less try to walk. It is just too hot. And, I realy feel for the wildlife. Thankfully, we have also been having rain frequently, though not every day. I can't even imagine what is happening in the Arctic regions and Iran, where the temperatures are hottest ever and throughout southern Europe where it is hotter than ever and they have no air conditioning there. So, Thank you.
I was well pleased to find out there is a good use to the stencil brushes I had inherited from somewhere or other. I think I will paint trees like this with my granddaughters. I painted some in my sketchbook, and look forward to using the technique on other paintings. Thank you.
Hi Diane, these are beautiful and I can't wait to try them. I found your video from last year with the 12 wee birds in the tree and really enjoyed painting it earlier today. Would love some more tree tutorials xo
Yay, I love trees, I am forever taking photographs of them, I look forward to bringing them up to paint them ….thank you Diane for this tutorial of the techniques you used….My grateful thanks 🌳❤❤❤
Beautiful Diane! I can't pick out my favorite. I do know that I will be painting these. Had a category 1 Tornado go through my neighborhood in North Carolina, Monday past. Lost 3 large 100 plus year old Maple trees. We were safe as was our home. I will miss these beautiful trees. Now I can paint them !!!! Thank you. ❤
OMG, that’s terrible! So glad that you are safe and sorry to hear about the trees. Have fun painting, maybe it will compensate a little bit for the loss.
Wow! This went up only 23 hours ago and already has 2.4K views. Congratulations on that!! Love your fall tree bookmarks. I'm going to make some as a gift for a friend. Thank you.
I had a blast with this little project. Thank you for mentioning options( as you always do for us beginners 😉) for a stipling brush. My kit includes all the brushes from our children’s art drawers as they were growing up… Thank you for the delight in bringing in Fall with watercolor.
These are great and thank you for doing the autumn trees. Ive been really into making bookmarks I will be trying these. Also, I love, love, love the new paint palette! 😊❤
Fabulous!! I'm a reader and this is wonderful to do for all my books! So much fun to give a book as a present with these enclosed. Thanks once more for another super tutorial, Diane!
Thank you my friend. I was just thinking about making more bookmarks. I like to give them to my friends. They worked out great for the wedding give-aways…I shall have to look for my stencil brushes, hopefully I didn’t dump them all. I used to stencil so many things..
This is very inspiring, even though I feel summer is fading too quickly. I do love autumn and all her colors, but I’m still clinging to summer. Despite all that, I have no excuse not to try this very soon. Thank you for this lovely, very doable tutorial! 😊
Heard "Didn't put my teeth in this morning!" when I had a mouthful of coffee!😆 Almost had coffee all over my laptop! I SO enjoy your videos! Thank you!!!
Yay, you did the trees! They turned out great. It's 100 degrees in Florida, so we won't be getting Autumn anytime soon. I will just have to paint Autumn! Thank you for this.
Great tree techniques! I am thinking of a maple tree in the backyard of our other little house. I have to duck to walk down the sidewalk. We have let several branches droop this way. The sutumn colors are always spectacular. I'll take a photo so I can figure out how to paint it when the time comes...droopy branches and piles of fallen leaves.
Oh Diane...I just love these! Autumn is such a lovely time of the year and here in Cali we've got a lot more summer and heat ahead of us, I'm sure, but these beautiful bookmarks certainly give me something to look forward to as we approach fall, which is always so refreshing. I don't have a stencil brush, but I do have a sea sponge that would probably work. You've inspired me. Thank you!
Glad you like them Carolyn - yes a sponge would work, or a stiff children’s brush or an acrylic brush - or a piece of fabric or paper towel, anything would work, it just wants to be loose and not persnickety!
Loved this one, Diane ! Such a good idea to use a stencil brush ! I have recently been looking at foliage brushes and driving myself crazy over so many choices, so haven’t bought any of them so far. 😳🤔🙄🧐 I had also been wondering if a stencil brush would act similarly…..and lo and behold, here you have shown us that …YES….we can use the stencil brush…indeed ! Thank you, as always for all that you do to produce these fab videos 🥳💕
Talk about weird weather...here in Maine mostly rain & humid this summer. We've had flowers emerge that didn't show up last year as it was very dry. I'm thinking the colors this fall will be spectacular! Lots of inspiration for painting😊
Wonderful practice and fun to do. Every tree I painted came out different, even when I tried to make them the same. I used same paint colors, but different brushes. 😊
These are awesome. I love to make bookmarks. I wonder how you can paint so loose (It looks loose) and the result is so nice. I do like all the 4 ways you did these trees. Lovely
Enjoyed this Diane... I have to say i liked the outcome of the first one best.... which one do you like best? The third one is nice too... Oh they are all nice but those two are the ones that grab me the most.. Thank you for this... I plan on making cards of this for my friends and family who can't wait for Fall!! Hugs! deb
During hot August, my brain always goes to Fall and my body yearns for cooler temps. Fall trees are the perfect springboard. Thank you!!
Binge watching. Liking and commenting. Lol
Than you for the tree tutorial! That method is much less intimidating than trying to get every leaf.
Thanks, so glad that you enjoyed it!
Love Autumn paintings. I welcome all of your future Autumn paintings
Yes yes yes ….. paint loads of Autumn trees…. Love playing with colours 🪶 ! Leaves instead of feathers for me now 🍁 !
Rewatching and commenting 😊 Love the autumn trees as bookmarks and the different techniques to paint them. Thanks, Diane! ❤

Oh I LOVE those! My favorite time of year is Autumn and I love the trees.
Hi Diane, thank you for your tutorials. I give dinner parties and have been making bookmarks with the name of the individuals as seating guides and they take them home as a remembrance of an evening with friends.
Great idea! That is really a lovely gesture, why didn’t I think of that years ago when we gave dinner parties!!!
These are beautiful! The stippling was effective. I really like each one of the styles or methods. You are really doing vibrant colors this summer, and each picture is great!
Thank you so much!
Lovely! Each tree has its own beauty!💕
Thank you! 😊
Amazing, so simple and yet so beautiful and classy. Thanks, Diane.
Thank you so much!
So many strategies to try. I may combine the branches from #4 with the layered marks from #1. Then again I may wash a damp brush over the top. All are beautiful in different ways. Can’t wait to start playing.
You got the idea! No rules!
How much I love all your trees, Diane! Beautiful colours! Thank you for the different techniques you showed us with each bookmark!
You are so welcome!
exquisite! I love these - great for practice, gifts, greeting cards... Looking forward to the whole landscape x

That’s a great idea Amanda, I will try to remember to do something along those lines in the near future. Thanks so much for your comment!
What a hood idea!
Meant to say good idea...😂
I love the colors you used for these autumn tree bookmarks.
And, the technique is perfectly doable for a beginner like me!
Glad you like them! And yes, definitely do-able! Hope you had a go and were pleased!

I agree, trying for each leaf leaves my trees muddy.
Thank you so much!
Looking forward to Autumn 🪶
I just love these. I always think a book and bookmarks make a nice gift.
Thank you so very much for your wonderful tutorials.
You are so patient and kind with your instructions, guiding us along on our journey to learn watercolor for ourselves.

Thank you so much! I had a great time working on this picture. ❤️❤️

Love Autumn and trees so this is a hit!
I love this! And then, summer fall winter spring trees next!

I love fall and these trees make me long for autumn as we continue to bake in August. I've painted 2 of them and am really pleased.
Beautiful! Thank you
Thank you too Rhonda!

Love this! My favorite is the first one, with the tree off center. Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
I've done autumn trees similarly with sponge. Kids do love to do this sort of painting. Nice!
Thanks so much 😊 I love the technique myself, must be a child at heart!
Thank you ! The trees are lovely! It’s 99 degrees today in Kansas, but I love summer!
Oh wow!
Love your trees! Beautiful colors! ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
My favourites are the first and last one. 😊

Thank you for the delight in bringing in Fall with watercolor.
Great job! Nothing better than a kids paintbrush for special effects!
These are great and thank you for doing the autumn trees. Ive been really into making bookmarks I will be trying these. Also, I love, love, love the new paint palette! 😊❤

Same here! We haven’t really had summer except for the occasional day and each morning here feels like mid September !!
Heard "Didn't put my teeth in this morning!" when I had a mouthful of coffee!😆 Almost had coffee all over my laptop! I SO enjoy your videos! Thank you!!!
Oh no!
Diane, loving your tutorials/classes. Such a good teacher. Thank you, from hot north Texas (108° F).
~Eva
You are so welcome!😱hot!!!
I liked them all!
Loved this ! Can't wait to see the landscape. Thanks again for your inspiration. Not sure I have a brush that will work but might try a small sponge.
Yes a small sponge would do the trick!
Very beautiful Diane! I love your style! You inspire me!
Thank you so much!
Thank you, Diane!
You are so welcome!
Wow! Love them. I’m making some bookmarks!!!!
Wonderful! Have fun!
Yay, you did the trees! They turned out great. It's 100 degrees in Florida, so we won't be getting Autumn anytime soon. I will just have to paint Autumn! Thank you for this.
100 or more most days here as well. Long summer, nice to paint in the cool of the house.
Just some simple little trees, more to come!
Great a landscape would be fabulous yippee 😅
These are great!! I do like the green at the bottom. Thank you so much! 🍁
You are so welcome!

I like the first and third tree that you painted best. I use a natural sponge for trees. It’s easy enough
It’s true, a sponge does a good job too, perhaps a little less controllable than a stencil brush x
Lovely trees, thank you for the tutorial!
My pleasure 😊
Loved this one, Diane !
Such a good idea to use a stencil brush !

Love all these! Thanks for inspiring us.
You are so welcome!

Thank you I’m going to give this one a go :)
Second from the left is my fave. ❤ I think I'll add fallen leaves on the ground. Or, not 😂
LOL!
I love these. 👍🏻👍🏻
Love these! ❤️
Thank you ❤️
Beautiful!! I can't wait to try it!
Have fun!
Loved this! Will be trying this method in the near future🎨

Great idea!
