Michelle was homesick for Cali and John started writing it for her earlier in the week. They were in NYC as newlywed’s. @@ALousyGolfer1 That's correct, the video is from 1998, so she was 54 at the time, like i said.
she looks great but can she sing? the few clips i've seen of them live she's always holding her mic too far from her mouth to be picked up, here i only hear 3 back up singers.
@@ALousyGolfer1no shit
Mama Cass ,faz muita falta ,mas o grupo continua incrível!♥️♥️♥️♥️
Na verdade, apenas a Michelle Phillips está viva hoje em dia!
Triste porem é a verdade
Sim.
Verdade ❤
One of the best songs of all time ......
OMG they're still sing and looking amazing after all this years
BEST GROUP EVER.
This was over 20 years ago, in 1998 at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. John passed away in 2001, Denny passed away in 2008
Една от най-любимите ми песнички за всички времена! Благодаря Ви! Бъдете живи и здрави!
Согласен на все 100 процентов!
В живых осталась только Мишель Филлипс.
la flauta es maravillosa, me transporta a otros años. Cass era el alma de The Mamás and the Papas, preciosa voz. Saludos de Chile

Saludos desde la parte norte de la costa del pacifico. Estoy disfrutando de esta actuación en Los Ángeles. ¡Disfruta de la buena música allá en Chile!
Sixties-seventies, so sweet,
The Mamas and the Papas is the best group,
LOVE for ever
🙏❤🙏
Wow! They sounded just as good as I remembered them. Thanks for the memories.
No Cass. Not the same.
Cass Elliot is badly missed, but it was pretty good!
@@gostrum1 It wasn't just pretty good. It was an excellent performance. Just cause Cass wasn't there, it doesn't mean it can't be great. So being so short-sighted.
Thank you guys for leaving us this beautiful music that has filled and liked so many generations.
Marvelous song and well done. You can feel the vacancy without Cass, her voice really rounded everything out, but she will rest in peace and the band plays on. Great job guys!
A wonderful group!
I miss the voice of Mama
Cass on vocals!☮️❤️✌️
A beautiful song that transcends generations.
I loved their harmony, they were so good. So nice to see them having fun. This is a song that stays with you. Yes Cass Elliot is sorely missed from life but her voice lives on in recordings and the enjoyment the group has in performing.
Love watching this back every so often. Love Seeing Mama Michelle in her element and as beautiful as always. What a Star she is and always has been.🌟✨🎤🎶💜💛
This show just how much of a powerhouse Cass Elliott was for the Mamas and the Pappas. She anchored everyone's voice so they would sound better PLUS she sang her own part. As someone said "John was the poetry, Cass the voice, Michelle the beauty and Denny was the performance." What magic Cass could have done.
Absolutely epic!!!! Iconic!!! And the essence of a bygone era, that one would have to live through to truly understand. And yet still timeless for all others to enjoy.
They had to have 3 back-up singers to make up for Cass’s voice.
Yep, and there was still a massive hole. Cass had the best voice of the era
And an orchestra
And they still couldn't pull it off
and still not enough
That's an exaggeration. She was certainly talented, but come on people, let's get real.
Ron Jeremy beating the crap outta that tambourine. Glad to see he's multi-talented.
My man, your comment is worthy of thousands of likes!
Its good to see him beating something else for a change 😂😂😂
Doing what he does best- banging it hard!
Yep, still got it in him, never missed a beat!
No doubt Anton is watching him and making mental notes on how he (Anton) can improve
Awesome performance on an iconic song from an all American band with style and grace. What a beautiful song!!!!!
Denny was from Nova Scotia
I've never seen someone play a tambourine so enthusiastically...that guy is the real MVP...
@@rickelliott4334 That’s a tambourine he’s destroying
Man I did t expect this to sound this good. Legends.
I love the mamas & papa's o how I miss those golden days . The 60s & 70s were the best. 💯✌💖
Their voices have certainly changed with age - as most everyone's does. But it's still a haunting & compelling performance.
Mama Cass was the sound of the song
Great song, love the flute solo, it's one of the best in rock history.
I'm by no means a flute person, but that solo fits so perfectly into this song. Perfection.
Mama Cass was definitely the soul of this band.
Yes she was
She was the heart and soul ,and VOICE.
I see. John's songs were not important apparently.....They were a band you know? (I find it hard to read some comments)
Is really
Disagree… works still without!
Such a beautiful gift of memories and remembering Mamma Cass
just glad to see these members get major media recognition after all those years. and of course mama cass is missed.
That was damned good. Better than I expected at their age and a live performance! 👏👏👏❤
one of the greatest and finest pop-songs ever.......
I agree
I first heard it in 1967 when CFOX Montreal did their very first (to my memory) Top 500 of "All Time", such as it was in /67. Loved it immediately. 53 years layer, still get goosebumps whenever those first few chords sound.
...along with BTS Dynamite, the first Korean song ever to top Billboard Hot 100

I concur
Only one Original Member left . Loved this Band . I was in High School when this song hit the Radio . Damn time flies .
I has living an a small burg in MI and when 'California Dreamin' came out, we demanded to move to the west coast. We did. Just missed Monterey.
추억이 떠오른다 눈물이 주루륵 1명이 안보이네여
Amazing to think this performance was 26 years after they first perforrmed it and now that is 22 years ago!
The one who ate the banana in their Ed Sullivan performance is the one who is alive today. Kudos to the banana.
Her name is Michelle Phillips.
I just saw that on the Ed Sullivan show tonight, leading me here.

It just doesn’t sound right without Mama Cass Elliot. She was the heart and soul of the group. ❤
Agree
They should have dug her up just for this performance😅😅😅
I'm not a music expert but I totally agree with you. Cass Elliot as a voice was from another planet. Ciao from Italy.
Agreed. It’s missing her “dreeeeeeeeeeeaminnnnnnn’” near the end. Someone else tried, but it was soft.
nie brzmi dobrze... marudzenie! To ją powołaj do życia. Była gruba i to ją zabiło. Otyłość jest zabójcza.
What I found amazing was the three of them delivering such quality voice over more than 30 long years... and the bassist enjoying and dancing... lololololol
One of the best rock and roll songs of all time.
watching this makes you realise how mama cass played such an important part in the band cause it just doesn’t feel right without her, it’s still good but she was the icing on the cake
Not only was it still good, that was an excellent performance.
RIP Denny, John and Cass. And Michelle too you are all legends and will never be forgotten
Michelle's not dead buddy.
@@MarcusStaAnaBurSelF what I meant to say was respect to Michelle too
Un tema que trasciende el tiempo y más aun. No tiene fecha de vencimiento.-
I will always have an eternal obsession with this beautiful masterpiece ✨
They look like they’re having fun...god rest their souls.....
Missing Mamma Cass Elliot .............Though I did love this live .....Michele Phillips ,,what a beautiful human , what a charmed life ........Just discovered this history ..Utterly Brilliant !!!
Epic song about California in the '60's. That was where conscience came to an awakening.
Now a cesspool
What's happened to California since is nothing short of criminal.
@@rustybooker
This is really nice to see - song has a different flavour here to it, and i just love it. Such a wonderful voice, and beautiful to see them together again.
Still a good sound and the three backing singers held it all together brilliantly.
Life is so short…. I will always be California dreamin. Iconic song by the greatest group. Actually brings me to tears. One left….
Anos 60 e seus canários belgas. Que competência vocálicas. Saudades de MAMA CASS.
Hello how are you?☺
Denny brought the performance of all of this to what we think of California Dreamin. All band members are deceased. Michelle lives on with all the memories. What a movement the era of the 1960s brought us.All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray. California Dreamin.
Great harmonies and Michelle was still absolutely gorgeous.
Not really, money buys surgeries. Too much makeup - looks like a clown.
@@Hithere-ek4qt this was over 20 years ago and she was hardly in need of either....jealousy is unbecoming
@@Hithere-ek4qt That's pure rubbish. You're a jacka$$, but you must already know that.
Jeez I miss mama, and this whole band, what a band they were, rebellious at their time, huge respect on their work..
What a beautiful song 🎵 love the way they ended the end, same as intro.
Yep, that’s Paul Shaffer doing his thing.
i miss cass 🥺 but they still have it in them it still sounds amazing 🥺💗
One of the great songs of all time!
I was just born when this song came out- and this song does transcend time and space !! One of my favs and Mama Michele can belt it out like it was 1965 all over again !!!!
