It's a testament to music from the 60s to the 80s, it's timeless and can be appreciated by all ages and all generations. People will still be loving the Beatles or Pink Floyd in 50 years, not a single person will remember Taylor Swift or Nicki Minaj in 2074.

Supertramp only existed 10 years with this line-up, but what a legacy...
I must say though that the second songwriter and singer Rick Davies is a little bit under-represented in your channel and there are some really great songs from him you shouldn`t miss. "Rudy" might make you cry, "From now on" is simply awsome, "Crime of the century" really dramatic. But in the end, you can choose any song from this Band, you will never be disappointed. By the way, every time I'm a bit depressed or have some trouble, I watch your reaction to "The logical song" and feel better immediately. Thank you both for being who you are.

Same here, and after wearing out their back-to-back breakout albums (Crime of the Century & Breakfast in America) I went down to the used record store, bought all their earlier albums and fell in love even more! After the breakup I never really resonated with Supertramp anymore, but followed Roger's career and bought all his records... which sounded more "Supertramp" to me then the official band did without Hodgson. For me, Roger Hodgson had always been the soul of the group... and probably the reason for their success. Which is interesting since he wasn't a founding member.

This was the last song Roger recorded with Supertramp. It's so strange that his song is about being left when he was the one who was leaving. I love this song so much. It breaks my heart.

I've seen "The Tramp" live 4 times. They are spectacular in every way. Rick is my favorite Piano player. John Is my favorite Sax player and Roger, Dougie and Bob are amazing at their talents. Only Pink Floyd I put over them for Live shows.

I always loved Supertramp ever since my older brothers introduced me to their Crime of the Century album. Try listening to the song Bloody Well Right, it's awesome!

I hate to say I told you so but....
    Pink Floyd vibes or what....
I'm so glad you got around to it.
The next step is Brother Where You Bound. David Gilmore plays lead guitar for Supertramp on this one....
The whole song sounds like it should be on a Pink Floyd album somewhere. 🔥🔥

Very under rated album IMO, the last album with Roger Hodgson.

Such a good band. The sax is great. Very surreal soothing sound. It gave me Pink Floyd vibes. I do suggest "Rudy" next.

This is how they ended their show during the tour for this album, with the tight-rope walker moving slowly along the rope on the jumbo video screen while a hand with scissors slowly rises to cut right at the final reverbed snare. An amazing way to end a show. They DID do a bunch of encores though, which made it even better. 😉

P.S. My favorite Supertramp song of all time is Fools Overture, and I'm surprised it's not already on your list of Supertramp reactions. Highly recommend.

The whole album "... famous last words" where this track is from was made under very difficult circumstances. Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies (the founders of the band, the songwriters and the two singers) had moved into different directions, not only musically but also personally, and Roger Hodgson once described the production as a "nightmare experience". I understand this song as Roger's cry for help against Rick to mentally "come back" to him. Since this effort wasn't successful he left Supertramp after having finihed the "... famous last words" tour. The harmonica in the end might have been intended to show the listeners that this album was the ending point of Supertramp in the constellation the audience had become used to, since their first very successful album "Crime Of The Century" began with a harmonica solo. So here the circle closed ...

I enjoyed listening to Supertramp on the radio growing up and was too damn poor to afford buying their albums, so it's a pleasure to hear some of these songs I'm not familiar with and look forward to discovering more.

I took my youngest sister to the Breakfast in America tour concert in Toronto in 1979. They played at Exhibition Stadium for three consecutive days, and averaged over 40,000 for each concert. 25 years later we interviewed Rodger Hodgson when I worked in broadcasting.
