Ordered my nano cortex an hour ago fingers crossed its as good on bass as QC is and here comes our bass gear savior Erik Arko with a demo - thank you Arko!!
All five captures you loaded sounded pretty sick, in my opinion. I really like the EBS one and Acoustic 450 captures. Currently putting together bass QC rig so I will probably use one of those.
Bass îs an after-thought and has been for neural DSP. I e had more luck getting great tones with the ampero series. This thing is an insult to all neural DSP clients. Bad în every way. More limited than other cheaper units. More expensive. No support for the integration with the plugins. Lack of conectivity lack of effects. Lack of modulariry. Etc.
£499 in the UK. for that, a Darkglass Infinity, Photon and ADAM could be better option for bass in my opinion. DK has built-in compressor, better blend control (most even have crossover or some solution for that), better built-in tuner on the unit itself. DGs were designed for bass players. but the DGs don't have transpose/pitch shifter, modulation/delay/reverb effects (only the ADAM has chorus). And DG can't make/play a capture. If they could add compressor and a crossover with control over the two separated signal... then it would be much much better.
I feel like it might be a good option if you are building a hybrid rig, also if you want an all in one rig for guitar and bass that is supplemented by pedals. That’s where I’m leaning towards using it for.
Thanks a million for the review. Super informative. I wanted to ask if you can parallel process with it. I like my bass tone to be always on with the other effects going on around it. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video presentation, I was looking forward to it but I don’t know, I’m not sure if it’s really worth it for bass, They said we could capture Parallax X and put it in, Have you tried? Does it work? That’s basically the only thing that matters to me, putting Parallax X in 😅
Hum…. I already have multiple boxes with mobile app control. This one having only a single effect chain, so no splitting possibilities is a no go for me. But the capture utility in this small form factor might interest many!
It doesn’t have parallel or clean blend right? I’m genuinely surprised that this and the Kemper player are missing that. Something like this would be awesome for us bassists, but I’d need a blend of sorts. My player got returned and I grabbed a QC. I can’t say I’m hugely understanding what market NDSP were aiming for. Player/toneX I guess? Stomp still seems a better bass option.
it makes sense for guitar, for the bass i don't understand it...why not buying a micro head like the warwick gnome or the trace elliot elf?you have the DI as well and you can have the power amp included...Who is using reverb, chorus or delay on bass?? come on...
I thkink that it depends on what are you trying to do or experiment, you can call me a mad man but currently experimenting playing metal with a tone influenced by Alex Weber on the Weakest Among Us where the bass has this crazy blended tone of overdrive plus a chorus. You may not like it but i loved that crazy tone
It looks very limited. FX section does disappoint..To name one missing FX; No envelope filter? Although advertised for bass it is not there yet. Very guitar oriented . Perhaps with future updates it might get usable? HX Stomp or Kemper Player feel like better options.
@@erikarko thank you for responding. Just wondering what are you biggest pro's in favour of the Nano compared to the KPP? Just to note. i am looking at the Quad Cortex.
@@therealsandeman The Nano has a VERY easy to use editor on the phone - and the unit itself is pretty darn easy to use. My experience with the Kemper line is that they take a decade to learn how to operate properly 😂
I hope they will make ‘bass signal chain’ with a future update. IMO this is too guitar focused. No compressor and no OD with a blend makes it not worth 500 euro’s for me. Also as a bass player I’d need the option to send an IR to FOH and a dry signal to my amp. If you want an PRE AMP + IR loader I’d get something else.
Doesn’t really make sense for bassists to be honest. Lack of a comp, FX loop and DI is just killer for me. I’m also more into amp modelling than capturing so I think I’ll stick with the HX Stomp until a worthy alternative comes out.
Absolutely. Not that it's not working. I just wonder if there will still be an updated app that works on your phone in 10 years. As we all know, mobile phones are disposable, musical instruments are not (at least so far). You'll either be stuck with the settings you have then, or you have to keep a vintage phone to control it.
@@thewaldfe9763 I have a 1975 mutron , still works worth a fortune, in 40 years this app based pedal won’t be working . So there won’t be a market for these pedals , just landfills somewhere

Boy, now i have mixed feelings about this fixed chain 😢
Gotta laugh anytime these reviewers that are well paid by their sponsors look straight at the camera(with amazing laugh restraint abilities)and claim they use their own money to buy the product and that they were never paid to do it.😏
@@jarexxsuvexx8212 No one paid me to do this video. I got to beta test the unit, which is how I got my hands on it. I did this video to provide the bass playing community with content on the unit, as I knew it would be pretty lacklustre on the release day.
Everything is interesting... but without balanced XLR output it is a bit useless for live gigs. You have to have one more device like DI BOX... that's nonsence
