I find using my Source Audio C4 and Gemini along with my Empress Compressor and EQ2 covers it all for me. I added a Seamoon Octaver as a second octave pedal and a Jive because it just really fattens the tone of my P bass. I use the Disaster Area DMC Micro in conjunction with the C4 and Gemini. Over 200 different presets stored already that covers everything from OD, Fuzz, Synth, Envelope, Distortion (yes the C4 does dirt wonderfully), Octave, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser; Tremola and Univibe. Endless combos of each. For reverb I use the Oceans 11 that has multiple great reverb options. For my amp I play through my. Ampeg B15 or SVT Classic. When I play ampless I use my Ampeg SCR DI. I used this preamp exclusively while touring with the Motown group The Miracles and it sounded great. Not into cab sims when I can get the Ampeg sound directly from Ampeg. Never used any other amp in over 50 years as a professional touring and session player. I play mostly R&B and Fusion Jazz these days. Not a metal or heavy rock guy so obviously the needs of those genres may differ.
This is honestly my goal. I am waiting for a Microtubes infinity to use with my Morningstar MC3 and C4 synth. That's a full pedalboard with an insane amount of options.
Just got mine. Right now I've settled on an Ampeg B15 for clean and an Orange AD200 for Crunch yeah baby. Still want them to add a compressor in though ;) Cool vid as always Erik!

@@erikarko I’ve bought stuff from TGT11. They’re also great, but again it is a bit more complicated than getting it from, say, Sweetwater. But I loved their product so much it’s worth it.

Why? Just use the quad less money then all those pedals and less of a footprint. Never mind troubleshooting live if something fails. I know you get it for free but the average gigging bassist should not get this over other units.
Because it’s fun? 😅 The idea behind this build is not to suggest to people to buy the entire rig, but rather showcase how the Nano Cortex can be implemented in a pedalboard setup :)
@@erikarko I purchased the nano day one. Hated it and made me wanna sell my quad. Still no usable x plug ins for the quad, 4 years now soon… Fun for you who gets it for free but for me not so much🤬
@@Bibblebabbler Sad to hear that you’re not happy with your purchase. To me, Plini X had some great stuff (the comp and the clean amp) that could be used on bass. Parallax X and Cory Wong X are on their way - and even without the plugins, I’ve been really enjoying the tones I can get out of the QC :)
@@erikarkokeeping the quad for now but sent back the nano. Have you tried capturing the parallax. I’ve had zero luck capturing the girth. Praying it comes soon for the quad. Need it badly. Sorry for bitching but the nano money grab release and not having the promised day one quad functionality has grinded my gears. Thanks for the vids.
