Hey jack, that intro song was breathtaking, something that is rare for me to say when i listen to something new, saw you live at radar in 2023 and you blew me away, keep it up brother ❤
I would say this a a disappointing product for the asking price and the features it offers. I would've traded the capture feature for the ability have maybe a reduced feature set version of the Quad Cortex and no app BS. Essentially what everyone else has done with their units.
...ive gone back to analog everything...makes a huge difference since i grew up on analog..something one has to experience i guess...my fractal now is used for quick jams with the local musicians, demo recording, and home or away from home practicing..this technology is amazing, but just not for a complete switch over....made my past gigs easy tho, but im happy to lug all the tube amps and pedals again...fills the band area better, feels like im playing music, ..im a guitarist, not a painter...aome are amazing painters, and thats their present, and future...ditto to all.
@@nomnom112 It’s true that companies pay artists to do demo videos (hence the tag at the beginning of the video), but you’re wrong to think I’m told to say it’s ‘the best thing in the world’ - something I didn’t even say by the way 🤣 I’m allowed to say anything I want about the unit - positive or negative. They don’t tell me what to say or what I can’t say. That’s not to say that every brand is like that, but Neural certainly aren’t one of those. I’m approached by many brands throughout the year to check out new gear and I simply just don’t review something if I don’t like it - even when payments are being offered. This is a piece of gear that I think could be especially useful for people who want to get into the Neural Cortex Cloud Captures territory with some multi-fx capabilities, but simply can’t afford the flagship unit (being the QC). I’ve used Neural products as my main rigs both live and in the studio since the beginning. For me, this is an epic little unit that I can see being perfect for musicians who can’t invest in the QC.
Love that and would love to hear the full version! Reminds me of Shawn lane, love the sound of the instruments accompanying you. Great taste and style!
I can’t find a reason why I would prefer this over a tonex. If I choose this budget QC, it probably means I don’t have much amps to capture anyway I would consider it if they add all their effects there or at least the legacy ones if any
Sylosis After Lifeless Years!!! Great video, I'm thinking to get one! I hope Neural would make an update to change the thing of fixed effects and other midi functionalities. Fantastic and inspirational playing as always man. Cheers!
It's a cool option. Shame there's no plugin compatibility now they finally got some on the QC. Also would've liked a shortened collection of the stock QC amps and cabs...... but I get it..... can't take away from the main QC too much. At launch I think ill stick with my kemper player for now
For those that wanted more out of the main model, this will allow for the company to do it. They will dominate the market with this. Who would buy the helix or boss at a $500 price tag. This is literally the next purchase for every guitarist that uses a floor modeler.
If they create an update that allows you to use the capture out / capture in as an effects loop, this will kill the ToneX / ToneX One. Until then, those are better options.
dang would've been nice if it was MIDI compatible since I usually use stompbox mode. anyway, beautiful playing as always Jack! I think I'd rather buy a lesson from you hahaha
I don't think this was a good move for Neural DSP. We've been asking for better updates to existing products (lots of plugins not available on my quad cortex still *sigh*). Yet they release a device that at that price point cannot compete with its competitors like HX Stomp, Ampero Stomp II, Kemper Player, ToneX. Disappointing, there's a tiny subset of guitarists that might barely consider this product just bc of the brand name.
@@Necca_UK Doesn't make sense to validate this product based on the price of QC. This product needs to be evaluated on its own right and against it's competitors. A brand new ToneX is $399 USD. I guess if you want to pay an extra $150 for this nano then you get the tones on the cloud and lose an on-device screen. Potential customers that highly value the tones from the cortex cloud likely already own a quad cortex.
You are aware they were releasing plugin compatibility while they were making this lol...they have multiple divisions for their company. One better tones than the tonex...I see this as a people who love their tones, but don't need a million things. It's more like playing a great rig for the price of a cheap solid state combo amp. I think it's a great move. Especially for customers who don't have 2k for a QC. My buddy loves their tones and all but has 3 kids and can't convince himself to spend the money. So yeah there are other customer/potential customers that benefit a TON from this. Neural's community is me me me me
It can do captures which nothing else in this price point does as far as i know. Idk why they didn’t include models though. The ampero stomp 2 is much more versatile but it doesn’t capture or play captures so very different use case. If ampero added capturing technology & sponsored famous players they would dominate the market.
Nano Cortex seems to have been designed to be used by itself and not as a pedal that integrates into a pedalboard setup. Why shrink the Quad Cortex down to the size of a guitar pedal, while also making it incompatible with the majority of other guitar effects pedals? Most effects pedals in 2024 are stereo. Stereo inputs and stereo outputs. No stereo input on Nano Cortex = lack of compatibility with other stereo pedals. Pedal placement should be up to the user. Many people prefer the sound of their effects in front of amps, not after.
It looks and feels more like a new product just for sake of a new product. "we will make new, very small and very limited multi effect pedal for more than competition, but you will buy it only because it's made by NDSP". saw their effects list and it's a joke
The HX stomp was released 6 years ago. I don't own one, but I can safely say no games were changed by NDSP today. This market is getting waaaaay oversaturated and NDSP is late to the game. Repeat after me kids: no amount of new gear will make you a better player. Also: no, your amp is not that special that you need to capture it. Existing plugins/captures will do just fine.
2 Questions please: Can I use Neural DSP plugins sold on their website on this new unit ? And can I capture the sounds of all my pedals and add it to it ?
so what would be the point in an individual who already posses quality amps buying this? To my understanding this is just a capture device so the only point would be capturing amps you already own (of course using others captures but if you already have a good amp and petal array you can get most sounds)

Totally valid way of doing it too man! I think this is more aimed at people who don’t have the budget for the QC or a high quality laptop + audio interface though! This seems like the perfect middle ground.
Good spot man haha! I have to if I want to record my Mic/Voice as well as NanoCortex (using a Sennheiser MKE600 which requires Phantom Power). Notice it's on an empty Preset. For anyone wondering about full signal chain, I'm going Nano Cortex L/R into Return 1/2 on the Quad Cortex and my Mic is running on Input 2 of the QC! 🙏
3:15 compute power has been separated from chip size for decades dude. The size of the thing has nothing to do with how powerful the processing is. The size is determined by the size of the I/O, having a screen (or not) and the spacing of the controls required to easily fiddle with them.Processing power does NOT determine the size of a stompbox.
I like you, your playing and your channel. Subscribed since a long time and all that. But if there's one thing the NC isn't, it's a game changer. It's a small capturing device and that's something that didn't exist before, correct. But that's about it. Hardly changing any game.
Hey man! Many thanks for the kind words! Appreciate you being here! 🙏💙 For someone that can’t afford a QC but wants to get into the QC’s ecosystem, then I think this is a game changer. Most of my presets on the QC are using captures and now I could technically gig/record just with this unit for a fraction of the cost? The fact that it can capture too at this kind of price point is insane to me - especially with it being so small. I don’t see how you could access these Cortex Cloud tones unless you were a QC user already? Now it’s giving access to those quality tones for way less cost?
@@JackGardiner That's all fine. But IMO saving some bucks is hardly game changing. And only applying in case you *really* wanted NDSP captures. In case you'd be fine with other capture formats (namely NAM, which is the most accurate and perhaps even getting the most popular format), there's other affordable solutions already. And even a compact one (the Dimehead NAM player).
@@Sascha_Franck I personally think saving money on gear is always a big thing for working musicians. If you prefer the captures you mentioned, then go for it!
