I think these plugins are great, my favorites are the Plini and Petrucci. I've managed to get close to both with Helix Native but it's tedious.
As it turns out, the PolyChrome DSP McRocklin Suite was released as I was looking at something different from my mainstay the BlueCat Audio Axiom, and it covers 97% of the sounds I want, except funk. I got it at the intro price which made it even better. Worth a look IMO.

Right now i'm mostly jamming or playing for fun. And in that category it's Petrucci for me. Beside it beeing Boogie/Fender and not Marshall you can get any sound out of it. From ultra clean - funky - rock and well metal.
When i'm sound picky it's Nolly. When i need them i will get Fortin Cali and Tone King as well. But for what i do Petrucci got me covered.
Also for creative reasons i picked up Tim Henson. If Rabea had been out i would have picked Bea. I really love his tones and the synth sounds really interessting. But the multivoicer and that Hensons tone is far from my comfort zone is a welcome challange to play different and ger creative.

I have a question regarding the Imperial MKII: How are you staging the amp from input to your interface through the plug-in?
I actually have an Imperial MKII for live performances and although I love the way the plug-in sounds; I don't feel that it reacts the same as the physical amp does. The amp definitely pushes the low frequencies up more than my other amps but with the plug-in, I always feel like the bass is overwhelming compared to the high frequencies.
I would absolutely love your input on this!

    • @kutchutozov
      @kutchutozov Год назад

Hi , not sure if this helps but I'm going straight into a cheap focusrite scarlett so I try to leave the gain on minimum and crank it from the volume knob to avoid extra noise. The best thing for me going straight in like this is the ability to process the signal PRE pre-amp. I know what you mean about the low end getting a bit much on the TK mk2 but I recently got a little strat copy and it suits the Tone King perfectly. Especially compared to my ibanez with a seymore duncan Nazgul lol. Way too dark and "wooly" without a high-pass filter in-front and some tweaking. The input gain helps with this a lot. The amp (plugin at least) just sounds way better out of the box with a brighter single coil imho, but experiment with the built in input gain stage, so reactive. That said, if you take some time to dial it in, I love how it actually handles the low end on my 7 string with the SD nazgul. (Fun fact, a 0.84 gauge string dropped to A, actually broke my babies back,,, but it sounded amazing till then lol) .. Meaty af but still had cut and articulation like a ginsu! Really impressed by the pedals too for either type of pickup. A gentle low shelf EQ, a bell cut around 200-400hz or a 6-12db high-pass around 100-300hz usually does the trick. BEFORE the amp tho! And even sometimes again between the amp and cabinet if I want to keep more amp breakup in the low-end. It's a similar effect to changing the impedance curves of amp and cab but with total tonal control. Nothing changes in the time domain tho obviously unless you get creative ;P resonance is a world of its own to explore tho lol. Anyway. Hope that helps mate.
      Peace🤘

Hey man! I think it comes down to lots of different factors here. It depends which audio interface you are using. It depends on what your input levels are set like on the audio interface. It depends on the pickups, the guitar, etc. Then it depends on the output settings inside Logic Pro (making sure nothing is peaking on the master). I think if you look a little into each of these subjects it could definitely help! It can be quite daunting at first, but it’s just like guitar - practice and just doing more of it is the only way to get better at it! ☺️

@@JackGardiner Thanks Jack, very kind of you to steer me in the right direction 🙂
      It all makes sense .
A hundred pennies make a pound. It’s seems to be the optimising of a lot of little things will add up to the final result.
Well , maybe some things will contribute on a larger scale , there may be a few 5, 10, and 20p’s in there too 😄
I know from experience the significant variables that come from the guitar/pickups/strings/etc. I used a 24” squier strat so now I think about it that will sound a bit thin and weak. I’ve noticed you can really hear the effect a higher end quality guitar has through digital modelling.
I will play about with it and look to input gain, levels etc. I’m using an axe io interface (about £250) . I see your going through the quad cortex so perhaps that’s giving a little extra something but don’t know how much. I’m clueless . Would be fun to have a job where you can sit and review/test all this great and figure it out !
Thanks again, have a great day

are all the tones you used part of the several default presets ?
Or you have created your own for this video ? (I saw couple of Jack Gardiner presets as well)
Great play and great review though !

You should always modify the presets to your liking. You don't know know the signal chain of the artist used when they made it. Ive had plugins get ruined just by switching guitars because the pickups have different outputs.

@@thesmellycatjazz Fully Agree but actually I was using only Guitar Rig 6 so far and have spent already many many time to create my presets (i could even reach some of the Cory Wong sounds). I have tried other DSP plugins and except the Cory Wong one, it was impossible to find the kind of tone I like (actually the one's from Jack are similar, we can really say tone is in the finger :) )and felt lazy spending more time to play with the settings rather than playing my guitar. So i'll stick to guitar rig 6 for the moment 😅

@@ilyasrayan4791, try the Tone King. It has great presets from the beginning. You don't have to be a magician to make it sound good. Just my opinion.

Using Neural plugins my guitar sounds better than most, but still sounds NOTHING like what you've demonstrated in your playing. Skill aside of course, my tone still sounds shitty and distorted, I cannot get your clean, edge of breakup tones at all. What could I be doing wrong?

Turn your input Levi’s knob to zero on your interface. Fixed it for me.
