If you’ve been following Apple for a while or know the company’s history, you’ll probably remember them having quite a few rivals over the past thirty five years. In the 80’s it was IBM, in the 90’s it was Microsoft, and in the 2000’s, it eventually became Google. But the rivalry between Apple and Samsung is more recent, and more unique. Since Samsung not only competes with Apple in the notebook, tablet, and smartphone markets, but also supplies Apple with key components for their devices. Like the iPhone’s OLED display and flash memory chip. So let’s explore how the two companies relationship soured, and how they feel about each other today.

The rivalry is not so strange until you realize how much they rely on each other.
well, it is Apple that mostly relies on Samsung for parts. Samsung still has other costumers for its parts, which any other brand aside from Samsung. Samsung literally sells components to all brands out there. Huawei, Xiaomi, Google, Oppo, Vivo, Motorola, etc… use Samsung components.

Funny how Steve Jobs was so adamant about protecting Apple’s tech, when he openly admitted to stealing other people’s work a LOT. Kind of like that quote from Jurassic Park, he stood on the shoulders of geniuses and took it to the next level, but didn’t obtain the knowledge for himself.
As true as that sadly (sorry, Apple fan here) is, without the vision and incredible drive of Steve Jobs, we may not even have known who Apple is today.
Idk, i couldn't find a proper story or article on this specific case of Samsung copying apple's iphone in terms of how the iphone works technically...so, 🤷

The thing is with technology the only way to go is forward. And if one idea is a good one then companies migrate to it. I think eventually they figured out that it's ok to use ideas from other companies as long as they maintain brand identity and don't make visual similar products

I’ve got the banned tab at the time, the galaxy tab 7.7. It’s had à 3G connectivity and coud be user as phone, a expendable memory and at the time an unique 7.7 oled display. I have now Apple’s but I still remember it as one of the best electronics I ever had. It was great, powerful and versatile

As much as I love Steve Jobs and his historical innovations I admire Tim Cook for his decision to stop the fight with Samsung. This is just way too costly for both companies and the fail for one will mean the other will most likely struggle a lot. Look at what happened for Apple. Their sales for iPhone got lower and the Samsung profit just collapsed for Q1 2019. 60% less the a year before. Which will most likely mean that they will rise up their prices for the next year displays for iPhone and eventually higher costs.
My Mom have Samsung and My Dad have Apple, they still love each other so... The Fight of the two brands affect NOT all of the users.

I like both companies, since they are great. My previous phone was a Galaxy Note8 and I loved it. My current phone is an iPhone XS Max and I love it. We should stop argueing about who is better.
I have a note 8 as my daily driver and iPhone 7 as a secondary device.
I like both companies. For phones, go with Samsung, for tablets, i go with Apple since i like its layout better for my tablet. Both great companies, just a matter of preference

I can't lie, even I thought Samsung was trying to bite off Apple when they first came out with the galaxy. Most Android phones at that point did not look like iPhones, and that's what attracted me to Android in the first place: It felt like they were trying to do something different.
