Def wanted to see more details on the panels. That view of the panels is incredible and intriguing.
Dude, this is incredible! I can't believe we haven't seen you or your van on social media before now. I'm surprised there isn't a line of companies out there trying to sponsor you, your vision IS the future and your road trip is pretty cool.
Truly inspired by your van and how it runs off solar only. I thought it was cool when i installed our 200W solar panels on the roof of our Sprinter van conversion, let alone the thousands of watts you have to power yours! haha
Happy vanning! Keep safe and big love from the UK, Sam & Gabi.
Why thank you so much for your super positive comments here! I also wish you all the best in your travels too! :)
I like how you point out the costs!
Yes I thought people would appreciate that, it was a suggestion from a friend @verdepordentro
This is without a doubt the coolest van ever. Last summer I had the same idea for a solarpanel casette roof system and I was thrilled to find your channel and to see it had already been built. My dream is to one day build a van similar to yours. Hope your repairs are going well, Im looking forward to seeing you reach Argentina!
Thank you for your kind and supportive words!
Carbon filters in the cooker hood are for absorbing smells and dirt. "so we're not spewing out carbon.." Loving the build so far 👍
This is not true in any way, a carbon filter does not filter CO2, it filters fine particles and smells.
@@RikkerdHZ we're also talking about utterly negligible amounts of carbon coming from frying food on an electric stovetop
I totally said this and went LOL nicer work China
And Karen
@@bob15479 In what way does frying on an electric stove produce ANY carbon?
Great build and awesome detail! If I ever built a solar electric van, I would probably follow a lot of those design elements.
I know you'd make an incredible job of it too!
You've built my dream. Kudos to you. Great work. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks my friend! Appreciate the kudos and the kind words! Dreams come true for all of us when we believe in them! Believe me 😁
just found this channel, amazing job on making this all work! just finished my own van conversion on an old diesel as I figured this was the only option, the next one will definately be electric :D
Welcome aboard!
Thank you for all the details. Very inspiring. You rock. Have a great day of travel 😊today wherever you are.
Well done video; very nice van, that’s a great deal of power.
Man you are the coolest guy on RUclips, what do I like about you van? Everything!!! Truly amazing can’t believe I haven’t seen this before instantly subscribed can’t wait to watch more videos what do I like the most about your van grandma and grandpa‘s photo you’re a true gentleman Best of luck on all your travels I know you will have a positive experience no matter where you go or who you mate keep it up my friend big fan now in the UK 🇬🇧 👌🏼
nice project. wish you the best and I look forward seeing more about the route
Thank you very much! More to come!
I would always end up putting drinking water down low in really hot weather to keep cooler
7.9KW on a van is redonkulous! Very impressive.
this is the best van I even seen..... liked and subscribed 4 sure....
Mate I didn't believe the picture you posted, so glad I snooped yer Facebook for this video. Absolutely awesome job man, I'm blown away 😁👏
Cheers dude glad we found you and you us!!!😁🌞
You hit the Holy Grail of Van Life! The life🌴☀️
Mate! This is one of the most radical creations on the web... I’ve not seen a hairstyle quite as splendiferous.
I love this. I know the future is solar power vehicles. Nice work in showing us an example of what can be done. Wow!
I have a similar project: with some fixed roof panels, a few more in 2 sliding structures that open to the sides, and expecting to be parked for 15 to 20 days at a time, I think it would be feasible - considering the high at the cost of fuel and electricity, it looks very attractive!
Enjoyed the tour of the van Joel, nice to see you looking fresh and clean cut before all hell broke lose in Mexico. Hope you are doing well and enjoying life. 🚐
Crispy! I love seeing your comments in all of my videos :) I really hope this comment relationship never ends!
@@RouteDelSol interesting. You said on the video that you produce more energy than you use. I think that a small mini split (ductless) ac/heater would be a good idea. I've been thinking about making our own rig, and AC and heat are a must. With climate change things are getting awfully hot and cold.
This is awesome! Keep pushing bro
Solar power and equipment has developed a great deal. Excellent work! Some aerodynamic additions to the front could reduce wind resistance and provide a front collision collapsible zone. A frunk if you will.
Great Van. Awesome you integrated the PV into it.
Whish we had those EV Van here to build into camper.
Wow! I've done US 1, but this is amazing! Also, as an American living in Aus, it took about 3 minutes before your Aussiness sunk in!
would love to see the economics of it all, build cost and living expenses afterward, been planning a build like this for a long time
That van is awesome! I want one now in my life. Subscribed 👍👍
Thanks for the sub! Glad you like my creation!
Really incredible build and the bed conversion at the end was amazing!
He didn't mention it during the tour, but yeah, great table set up shown at the end of the video!
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Yes it was really hard to fit everything in, but I am glad that you got to see that thing work :)
Wow, it's definitely evolved since the beginning! Looks awesome now.
yes you've seen this thing go from the front yard of Solarrolla all the way to it's pre accident form! Glad to have you here for the ride man!
@@RouteDelSol Thanks for taking us all along with you! And also for jumping headfirst into an adventure I've so far only dreamed about :)
Great video 👍
Looking forward to you new build
Yes I can't wait to share it all with you.
Fantastic!
Great job, I love it, so inspirational
Great project!!! 👏👏👏
Muy buen video. La camioneta se la vé muy cómoda. Buen viaje!!!
Gracias Gustavo! Eres muy sympatico!
Your mobile solar home is a dream made real, beautiful!
I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing my creation! I hope to see you around :)
Sweet my hero, ya man like it a lot!
This is amazing 😃
This is just awesomeness!!!
☺️ Thank you :)
Es el mejor video para promocionar Route del Sol, aunque ya lo hice con los de Verde por Dentro jaja
that is incredibly fortunate to find such a good looking and functional electric transporter to build on! Do repeat at some point who build and used these originally...
Hey! Yeah it is such an awesome base to start with! It is an old delivery van from a Californian utility called Pacific Gas and Electric. But the major clients for the International Navistar E-Star were FedEX, Coca Cola and Canada Post. I think they made less than 500 of them.
@@RouteDelSol I read that they made 400 of them and that they are no longer supported the electronics and Battery are proprietary. I really like the way it looks so I did a lot of reading about it.
New subscriber. Love this concept. Please carry on..
I've just discovered your channel! Amazing van! I am thinking about doing it myself, don't have much money to back me, but someday i will build a mini van 😀, might just go backpacking and never turn back.
I love it 😻!!
Gracias 😊
That's awesome! If only the electric vans were cheaper I would definitely do the same. Maybe one day :)
Way too cool for school Man !!!The Future is Here Now!!~!~Thanks ps 71 Gandalfdian Geezer ADK loves ya' man ...have a continuing great trip...amen zen tao Happy Trails & How!!!!
Epic!!!
Loved your vehicle.
Was waiting for the part where he would show the massive batteries.
Doh, stream finished before I finished typing 😂 Can you purr-lease do more recent (re) build type vlogs going over the struggles of working with sponsors to get this thing back up and running better than ever before.. so much to be gained by progress reports rather than just a finished product "reveal video I think. ❤️
Thanks so much for the suggestion yes we are now moving into the new territory with everything that we release being new up to date content. I feel that it is super important to show everybody the past in full detail so that when they see what we are building now they can understand the evolution of a project like this.
nice set up/ that same roof expansion solar is the type that ran through my own head a few years ago just in thinking about it/ looks good,,, I think I was on 8020.net website when I was thinking those random thoughts, but here in Texas we are more likely to just do a simple panel &battery to 12v cold box to keep our beer cold off grid than anything as complex as recharging an EV. **not everyone like extruded aluminum systems, but you can always recycle sailboat masts or catamaran crossbeams too instead.
awesome work bro, i wish you to be successful to your satisfaction in your innovations, have safe road trips and attain true peaks of spirituality. this is Abdullah from India. love and peace
something like this is the future for camping rvs:))))
Te veo gracias a Beatriz Verde por dentro desde Argentina . Bea una genia . Un saludo
Saludos!
Hi, tank you for this new video about your insane solar camper. After all this time, what would you change or improve about your solar camper? sytème? inside conception? other? Thank you for your reply. Laurent, Switzerland
Absolutely amazing van! You didn't cover the curtains at the back of the van. Is it another window? Would love to have seen "under the bonnet" too? 😁❤️
Proud of you bro! No need for cancer-causing emissions.
Would love to know how long the range and how long it would take to "reload"! How did you hook up mains batteries power to 48v? And is there a plan to make the solar panels come out "fully automatic"? Loving the build!
Dude, you can totally survive the apocalypse (especially a zombie one), just saying ;]
Hahahah best comment ever!
This is so awesome.
Thanks Man!
I love this and you total concept. Do you ever build these for other people? I live in Baja California and would love to travel in something like this. Please let me know what you think. Thank you so much. Luke
With that much solar power, I'm surprised I didn't see a water harvester to generate clean water on the road.
i bet even with those many panels is not enough to charge the battery fast enough to keep driving, if you using solar panel you should know if installed is 2000wp, its only generated 1000wp most of time
@@billykulim5202 you should do much better than 50%, that would indicate a serious issue with your system. I built a solar system for a work trailer and a converted ambulance. 1600 and 1200 respectively, you should get 75-80% flat and 85% angled.
I would really like to see how you deploy your solar array. Is it a big job to swing all those panels into place? How do they hold up in the wind? You must have about 4,000 watts up there!
There's actually around 8000 up there :) It does surprisingly well in the wind.
You'll find the set up here in this video
ruclips.net/video/ESCkUiqLxT4/видео.html
Beautiful ❤️
Aww the “love you Grandma”. That’s a man 👍
Great video. Do you think the new bi faceted solar panels could shrink your array size?
2:38 cool plubing system
What are plans for the van after the trip is complete?
Thanks :) I love having fossil fuel free hotwater on demand in a campervan!
Amazing brotha, keep it up! I have solar panels mounted on my weekender Chevy Astro van. Dream of converting it to an EV. You are living the dream bro! What is the platform, was it a DIY EV conversion, or was it an EV out of the factory?
It is a 2010 Navistar Estar International all electric from factory :) Do the electric Chevy Astro!
Would love to see some drive time footage
Awesome ....
Very neat! A question? What is your driving range? Thanks.
Would ike tosee the PV deployed. How do you guard against wind when they are deployed? Thanks , Happy Trails.
can you talk a bit about your 48V battery? Those are powering your home amenities but why not just use the HV battery and a DCDC for that? Perhaps the Navistar doesnt already have a HVDCDC? Would be cool to hear more details about that.
Cool van. Just FYI - carbon filters are not absorbing your CO2. Just some air particulates. How far can you go on a full battery charge?
Thanks for your comment :) I can go 200miles/300kms on a full charge.
Wow
I wish I could live in such a wonderfully logical vehicle!!
👍✊💜
Do you have a backup Gennie ( In case Just ) . . . Fabulous Job
No I don't if there are no photons I just wait and enjoy to the best of my ability :)
Add horizontal wind turbines rollers type on roof top of your Vehicles horizontal wind turbines rollers type on need to stop for recharging during running of vehicle
Someone had to do it!!
this is my dream van
Talking about overbuilding! This thing makes more power than Hoover dam.
I guess the 8kw inverter is for when you wanna plug in a nuclear reactor.
This is the perfect van to escape the matrix I love it
Is there a plan you build the solar panels put folding out?
Is there enough juice mate, to do welding as a side line ?
Me encanta
Gracias
Cool...Uber 😎👍 Two questions though. Is the vehicle built from ground up ? And,What about climate control on hot days?
No the vehicle is a 2010 Navistar Estar and on hot days we have a fan and the ocean :)
Love your mission guys! We are in a 1985 Toyota Sunrader....and hopefully our next rig will be fully solar (or at the very least EV)
Thanks you guys! We hope so too!!!
hello I have a question, I will use the google translator since I speak little English. What happens when hail falls or stones in a storm, how do you protect the panels ... greetings from buenos aires
Oye, busco refugio.
Gracias
Specs? How big is the battery, how much does it consume at 100-120kmh and how much charging power do the modules have?
What is your range per charge without solar?
With all that weight I'm guessing not much.
Great job! I love the use of space. It all looks very efficient. How many adults will the rig handle comfortably? I suggest some form of a small backup generator for when things get ugly. Thanks for doing this and proving the concept. You are an inspiration to us all. Good luck.
I think comfortably you could have about 4 adults maybe five definitely a family of four could do it easy in this van! Thank you!
Sola pewoa (Solar power in Aussie)
I want to see more content on solar van 2.0 or the next version, would love a livestream with will prowse brainstorming the ideal build. Also more data would cool. things like using a sun tracking app to "steal free sun from the street" etc, catchy title, content that is rare on the internet and will be valuable for future solar vans. just the topic of street solar and code/zoning is complex and intreating as it forms the foundation of free living. then you have the ev charging station/camper van topic, try to get a ticket. like live at an ev charger for a month or something, this topic is going to be interesting and someone needs to be first. and heres a new topic, heat your van with bitcoin miners powered from the solar, breakout the cost and show if it can buy you food. or get free power from an ev station.
Coming right up ;)
How will you cross the Darien gap ?
Just dropping a comment because i watched.
Thanks dude! Appreciate it!
so am pretty sure when i say this for everyone , why did you not show us how you set up the solar and drive away in windy conditions?
Your video deserve a billion views yet only 10k?
I’d do that just for the shade.
Some people are saying that the van is not repairable. How is it holding up?
Van is repairable, at a cost though. One which I have been unable to cover... but a plan is in action
