i bet even with those many panels is not enough to charge the battery fast enough to keep driving, if you using solar panel you should know if installed is 2000wp, its only generated 1000wp most of time
@@billykulim5202 you should do much better than 50%, that would indicate a serious issue with your system. I built a solar system for a work trailer and a converted ambulance. 1600 and 1200 respectively, you should get 75-80% flat and 85% angled.
Dude, this is incredible! I can't believe we haven't seen you or your van on social media before now. I'm surprised there isn't a line of companies out there trying to sponsor you, your vision IS the future and your road trip is pretty cool. Truly inspired by your van and how it runs off solar only. I thought it was cool when i installed our 200W solar panels on the roof of our Sprinter van conversion, let alone the thousands of watts you have to power yours! haha Happy vanning! This is without a doubt the coolest van ever. Last summer I had the same idea for a solarpanel casette roof system and I was thrilled to find your channel and to see it had already been built. My dream is to one day build a van similar to yours. Hope your repairs are going well, Im looking forward to seeing you reach Argentina!
This is something I would love to have. I love 4x4 camper vehicles but for efficiency and all of the great things you showed and explained so well. Very nice build. More food for thought when I decide to build my adventure home in the future. So many good ideas coming from so many cool people on RUclips these days. I want to take all of it and combine it for what I need/want. Keep it up man good work!

nice set up/ that same roof expansion solar is the type that ran through my own head a few years ago just in thinking about it/ looks good,,, I think I was on 8020.net website when I was thinking those random thoughts, but here in Texas we are more likely to just do a simple panel &battery to 12v cold box to keep our beer cold off grid than anything as complex as recharging an EV. **not everyone like extruded aluminum systems, but you can always recycle sailboat masts or catamaran crossbeams too instead.
Buenas tardes. Gracias
Solar power and equipment has developed a great deal. Excellent work! Some aerodynamic additions to the front could reduce wind resistance and provide a front collision collapsible zone. A frunk if you will.
Add horizontal wind turbines rollers type on roof top of your Vehicles horizontal wind turbines rollers type on need to stop for recharging during running of vehicle
can you talk a bit about your 48V battery? Those are powering your home amenities but why not just use the HV battery and a DCDC for that? Perhaps the Navistar doesnt already have a HVDCDC? Would be cool to hear more details about that.
just found this channel, amazing job on making this all work! just finished my own van conversion on an old diesel as I figured this was the only option, the next one will definately be electric :D
that is incredibly fortunate to find such a good looking and functional electric transporter to build on! Do repeat at some point who build and used these originally...
Hey! Yeah it is such an awesome base to start with! It is an old delivery van from a Californian utility called Pacific Gas and Electric. But the major clients for the International Navistar E-Star were FedEX, Coca Cola and Canada Post. I think they made less than 500 of them.
@@RouteDelSol I read that they made 400 of them and that they are no longer supported the electronics and Battery are proprietary. I really like the way it looks so I did a lot of reading about it.
Would love to know how long the range and how long it would take to "reload"! How did you hook up mains batteries power to 48v? And is there a plan to make the solar panels come out "fully automatic"? Loving the build!
Considering he’s using a 120 kWh battery that translates to 480 miles minus the losses he may experience maybe about 400 miles. I could be wrong but that’s my estimate.
Hi, tank you for this new video about your insane solar camper. After all this time, what would you change or improve about your solar camper? sytème? inside conception? other? Thank you for your reply. Laurent, Switzerland
I have a similar project: with some fixed roof panels, a few more in 2 sliding structures that open to the sides, and expecting to be parked for 15 to 20 days at a time, I think it would be feasible - considering the high at the cost of fuel and electricity, it looks very attractive!
Absolutely amazing van! You didn't cover the curtains at the back of the van. Is it another window? Would love to have seen "under the bonnet" too? 😁❤️
I love this and you total concept. Do you ever build these for other people? I live in Baja California and would love to travel in something like this. Please let me know what you think. Thank you so much. Luke

I would really like to see how you deploy your solar array. Is it a big job to swing all those panels into place? How do they hold up in the wind? You must have about 4,000 watts up there!
There's actually around 8000 up there :) It does surprisingly well in the wind. You'll find the set up here in this video ruclips.net/video/ESCkUiqLxT4/видео.html
Enjoyed the tour of the van Joel, nice to see you looking fresh and clean cut before all hell broke lose in Mexico. Hope you are doing well and enjoying life. 🚐
@@RouteDelSol interesting. You said on the video that you produce more energy than you use. I think that a small mini split (ductless) ac/heater would be a good idea. Carbon filters in the cooker hood are for absorbing smells and dirt. "so we're not spewing out carbon.." Loving the build so far 👍
This is not true in any way, a carbon filter does not filter CO2, it filters fine particles and smells.
@@RikkerdHZ we're also talking about utterly negligible amounts of carbon coming from frying food on an electric stovetop
I totally said this and went LOL nicer work China
