I can't believe more people aren't interested in this. A solar powered motorhome that reduces living costs to almost nothing? Nah, is rather work my whole life for a 1/4 of an acre with a small structure on it. When when the next generation of batteries come out, this dream would be easier. They also have double sided solar panels now that would be good for this project. The awning could have these double sided solar panels. Xponent solar. This is exciting, life changing project you have!!
I just discovered your RUclips channel and your project while looking for info on EV camper vans. Seeing your videos through 2020-2021 brought back a flood of memories for me of the pandemic and how hard things were. You really did persevere during that time, I wouldn't call it a failure. There are always going to be ups and downs, those particular years were just a deeper, wider "down" than usual, I think! It has been awhile since this video was posted and the website referenced is no longer active. I hope you are doing well and that you haven't been too discouraged to continue to pursue your dreams!
Missing your journey updates. Hope all is well and Route Del Sol is able to continue the dream. Solar needs to be our future and you are part of that path.
Don't know how I missed this one at the time, quite a big update! Feels a tad ominous that we haven't had any videos since, but don't sweat it man, I hope you're just busy making progress. I'll just say that you have been and continue to be a huge inspiration and your drive to keep this project going is incredible. Honestly giving up would have been completely reasonable and understandable, but I think that you can do it, and I really hope you do.
I don't recall getting a notification for this video and thought, "I wonder what has happened to Route Del Sol lately," and here you are. Life is full of setbacks. I took early retirement in September 2019 to follow my dream of building my own motorhome to travel. I broke my ankle a week later putting me out of action until December. I started back on the project in early 2020 and COVID struck. All the music festivals I had booked for 2020 were cancelled and I rashly made a public vow, at the age of 62, that I wouldn't get my hair cut again until the pandemic is over. I haven't had a haircut since August 2019. The van has been started, ripped out and started again but is getting there. I might be able to sit on my hair by the time the world returns to some kind of normality but I'll get to achieve my much simpler ambition at some point as I am sure you will yours. A wise Australian once told me that an adventure with no setbacks is not an adventure, just a road trip. Your journey is going to make a much more interesting book than if you had breezed it. Keep on pushing forward. We're looking forward to the next chapter. No pressure.
You were a forerunner of the future. Never, ever a failure. Ever. If you haven't already, dust yourself off, keeping looking forward and onward. If this project is part of your future, cool. If not, cool. Remember the good times.
Glad you are back. You are like the rest of us learning as we go. I was preparing to drive my dirt bike to Argentina when the virus struck. Will be on the road in the spring. Maybe I will see you on the road somewhere. Leaving from Vancouver Canada.
Joel! Thanks for the update on what you’ve been up to. Keep your head up and stay positive. Sounds like your Miami contact is a move in the right direction. Look forward to hear more in the future. Love ya man, be good… 🚐☀️
Thanks for the update. I appreciate everything you have done and wish you all the best. You have not failed! You accomplished a lot and were an inspiration to many. Take care.
Just discovered your project/ journey/ life today, 10 months after it was put on pause, wish you the best man, hope you can continue on your way. I’ve always wanted to drive from here in Idaho to Tierra del Fuego, but this pandemic has wrecked my health. We do have a machine now though! Huge and comfortable, but it is also old and difficult to get parts for so Argentina is still out. More on ‘Leave The Driving to Russ’. Take care.
Me alegro mucho de que nos muestres la continuación del proyecto, felicidades!!!! Eres muy valiente!!!! Vaya aventura!!!! Mucho ánimo porque pronto podrás continuar tu viaje y nosotros verlo. Un abrazo
with out fail... there is no over coming and learning... so I do believe we all learn alot on your path... and I for one have learn alot.... I do believe enough time this can work... thanks for the video's and keep going
I had almost given up hope on your journey. I thought that you were going to walk away from the project. Congrats on your rededication and moving forward.
Nice to heard from you again, what a journey my man!!!! let us know how are you doing. Keep the adventure alive. Good luck, till then BYE BYE🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️
Hi! I just discovered your channel, it's an awesome project, even if things are not going your way at the moment, it's amazing to see how far you've come. I'm sure you'll have success in your future project!
I don't know how I missed this video, Joel. I am glad you were able to bounce back and that Shane is giving your project the help it needs and deserves. I look forward to the "unboxing" of the container in Miami.
This is the first of your videos I've watched. I've thought quite a bit about electric cars and solar panels and completely off grid mobility. It's excellent to see someone actually doing. You're an inspiration, and if you can continue after hitting what look to be significant barriers, that's even more reason to be proud of what your doing!! Keep going, you're doing great 👍
Jajajaja for different things we did the same...hold the bear for over s year...good to hear from you!!!! If you still in Miami next month we will be in Miami, maybe this time we can meet in person!!!
Great update, hope you get motivated and funded to get back on the road, and starting from Miami, maybe head north and loop round for a test / re-acclimatisation to life on the road before heading off into South America to complete the planned journey.
Been a year... you alright? Not worried about whether or not you moved on, just worried about whether or not you made it on out of there. Maybe just throw out a 'sign of life' post in the community page or something eh? I hope all is well for you man. Take care.
Thanks for the update Joel, how did (does) Miami work for the project? Hope the van is coming along nicely, we really need to those new panels to work out well. Wishing good vibes and great success on RDS V2!! Tim on Whidbey.
Of course it was a waste of time. You can't drive to Argentina. There's no road that goes through the Darian Gap. You have to push the thing 50 miles through the damn jungle.
I've not had any income since March last year due to COVID here in Oz, but there's always money to buy a deserving bloke a beer, so have just sent you US$10 via our website PayPal. Sorry it's not more, but hope you enjoy it 😎👍🍺

Sometimes failure is needed in order to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Without it, we would not know what Success is

So,,?
How are things going now??
I want to do the same thing in a Cybertruck.
Trying that with a smaller vehicle would be a lot easier, don't you think?
This life has a end. but it only once but but but there is after life. Just do good deeds.

UPDATES
It's been over a year now, just wondering what's happening with this project.
I didn't subscribed you yet. But thinking about subscribing you.
Of course it was a waste of time. You can't drive to Argentina. There's no road that goes through the Darian Gap. You have to push the thing 50 miles through the damn jungle.
This guy is a huge bullshitter
There are new EV Vans out there now. Try again?
