- The Prince of Wales joined a panel discussion at the 'Exploring our Emotional Worlds' youth forum on World Mental Health Day. His Royal Highness joined young people representing The Mix youth mental health charity, Fatima Diallo (21) and Michael Lister (20) on the panel, which was hosted by Mental Health Advocate Dr Alex George.
Delivered in partnership with The Mix charity and featuring presenters from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and Asian Network, Exploring our Emotional Worlds brought together 100 young people to start a conversation about how they manage their emotions.

Great discussion and great speech by HRH PoW. I appreciate he and Catherine wanted to get people talking, but not just to sit around indulging themselves. There's a goal, they are looking to help create practical tools/services to help people going forward with their lives 👏

I absolutely love how incredibly eloquent this young people are about such an important subject. And I love that the Prince and Princess of Wales went primarily to listen. And to encourage these young people to find workable solutions.
I liked the way that Prince William sat quietly listening while these young people had their say. He didn't try to take over the conversation but waited patiently.

I have a daughter who works with people with mental health issues, she says the same about funding. She worked all through covid supporting her clients ,on phone or by computer. A lot she does is voluntary, learnt a lot from her myself and do have a better understanding.

Since I have joyfully watched the King as he tends to his organic farm with those who are his right hand workers, I know for sure, that 90% of mental health issues are from what we eat, and drink. Also making sure we have plenty of magnesium.
Eating organic, healthy foods. Avoiding alcohol and other destructive substances.
It is only an issue because our grocery stores are full of items with bioengineered (especially in the U.S.) products.
We can have these meetings forever, but our food consumption must change.

Imagine the PTSD that the spare inflicted on his family all the while promoting himself as a saviour of the plebs mental health!! When I was growing up in the 60's we had very few leisure outlets, apart from sporting activities, youth clubs or art groups. Our school holidays were always a challenge for our parents (particularly our mothers if she was a working mother) and often we relied on the input of our neighbours and extended family, and to some extent our churches. Life was so much simpler, with fewer predatory influences on a young person, and very much more support for those needing it. Potential problems were recognised and addressed as they surfaced. It was called Community. Would it really be so difficult to bring back some of those inputs from a previous era? I have nothing but admiration and respect for these young people, as well as Prince William and Princess Catherine, who are making a huge and positive impact in this desparately needed area of society.

I would add confidentiality. Young people don’t have anyone to turn to, where they can truly speak in confidence. How can a young person open up to a teacher, for example, when the teacher immediately takes the conversation back to the parents or someone in authority?
i would like to say big thankyou to HRH William and Catherine bringing awareness of mental Health , its great to have someone who will listen and show genuine support , shame not all Doctors or Healthcare professionals dont recognise compassion and understanding ,time ,support is needed not just a shrug of shoulders and to be felt your wasting there time , they in my opinion need more training in compassion , listening skills and follow up care in my opinion

Fatima has some great ideas and Michael is spot on about 'young people not having a place to go to'. We are in a time in history where mental health is widely discussed. The problem is that "many" older people do not or will not discuss this. This leaves the young people with research, developing plans, ideas, curriculums, books, pamphlets, etc...for their generation and future generations. The data is already out there. All someone needs to do is interview on a wide scale, compile the data, include peer review research, compare and contrast, etc...and analyze the data.
That is doing something positive for all, well done

What a stark contrast between the Prince and Princess of Wales and Harry and Meghan. Both couples participated in mental health initiatives on the same day but the HRHs turned the spotlight onto the participants and asked THEM what they needed vs H&M who hogged the spotlight so they could talk about themselves and talk AT people. A study in genuineness and artificiality in full display/

It’s nice to see & hear the panel was not preaching but reaching out with kinds words & suggesting ways of helping themselves with mental health when no one is available to talk talk to. Showing how to distract their feelings at that moment until someone there to help.
For the Prince and of Wales it's about helping other people, it's not about themselves.
What activity it was that the Royal Foundation had put out there - from the shots of the participants - has such a positive vibe that watching from where I am, it is felt. And I’m comforted by all these young people who are equipping themselves with tools that will help them in their mental well being. Excellent job, the Royal Foundation!
