The other night I saw a "one man band" that was so talented. But what blew me away was the drum backing. I"ve used very old drum machines that you had to program but here this guy was having all these made to order drum backing tracks. I asked him about it and he pointed to his peddle. I didn't understand it at first as I thought he had to program every song but he said now it was all in the peddle! I didn't understand it but NOW I do. Thanks for the demo and explaination! Loved it!!
It does have a "sobriety" function. It won't start a bar fight, but has settings from "tipsy" to full blown "wasted". The latter will drift the beat all over the place and pick random spots for drum fills/short solos. Ever play with that drummer?
You are probably right, but to start the practice session you need the drummer to turn up, so I think the Beat Buddy already has a head start over 75% of drummer :-) . If you want it to randomly stop playing, just put the aux footswitch somewhere near your lead vox - he/she will no doubt randomly stand on it, so that's the 'randomly stop playing' bit sorted. For the fight, suggest waiting until your bass player is 6 pints in, then telling your bass player something like "the Beat Buddy just spilt your pint … or the Beat Buddy just looked at your girlfriend" - voila, sit back and watch your bass player try and fight a metal box. Next.
Now there is the "sobriety" function... Ranges from tipsy to fully wasted. It can do something as subtle as randomly drift a little, or as major as throw down a big, verging on drum-solo, fill, also at random. We'e all played with "that" drummer at some point...
I just bought one it’s amazing what you can do with this. What’s cool about this thing is that you can add a boomerang looper with it and add more instruments to it it’s like a one-man show it’s sweet . I’ve been playing for 35 years I’ve been in a lot of bands and this is definitely a cool drum machine. And sometimes when you’re by yourself and you don’t have a band you can jam out with it keeps you season. I give this product a 10 ✅ 😎👍🏻

Awesome seeing you enjoying, playing along, even i feel like playing now, very enjoyable and inspiring. The singing made it awesome, and that pedal really captures the drummer's essence with that Outro Fill, LOL! hilarious, but, great feature, kepts it real... big hug Sean from far away!
So great you guys are talkin about this. Had one for around 2 to 3 years now . its just brilliant . Only tricky part is the double tap outro so i tend to finish on cybal crash and stop button together by covering both the buttons on the extra footswitch,, which btw is essential although sold separately mine is full of stuff created and dowloaded by others on the forum. some clever folks out there
I also use a dual external footswitch (Boss) to end songs with a crash by hitting both switches at the same time. But my Midi Maestro is on its way (new product by Singular Sound), and that will enable me to do a lot more with the BeatBuddy.
Thanks for making such a great video. Wanted to check out what the pedal can do, found this video and wow. You just grand slammed this out of the park. Really appreciate it.
I've had a Beatbuddy since 2016, and I still find it to be a very worthwhile investment. As you use it, the Beatbuddy becomes like second nature to operate while playing and singing. 😉

Awesome I hope you like it! Also just want to reiterate that it won't come standard with ALL the backing tracks, I didn't know this at the time of shooting the video, but I added it in the description.

@@mdmccat real cool man I could really enjoy playing to some pretty authentic backing tracks to more known songs, thanks for the heads up brother man :)

Hey, how did you get actual song titles onto the SD card? Did it come with that as a default ? From what I can tell, they are extra cost files from some source. is that correct?
I own the Beatbudy for a year now. I like the machine itself, but what I don't like is that the library included with the pedal is pretty basic, and the premium library costs as much as the pedal itself. because of that I couldn't recommend or would buy it again.

Unfortunately not even the premium library songs allow you to just play them all the way through. I have one and it’s a great sounding drum machine, but like the video says some of the tracks have like 15 parts and you have to manually transition every part, now imagine doing this on a live show as well as having a helix and or other pedals on the floor. I’m lead vocal and rhythm guitar and have a helix and a voice live 3 xtream at my feet, I just need the beatbuddy to play the drums without 15 foot taps etc. I believe there are some one press tracks but I’ve not seen any, and none of the premium content I purchased has the option !
@@lperry65 I do looping and I typically find that most popular songs have between 1 and three distinctive parts....15 seems crazy, but at 2 or 3, would that be a difficult feat to pull off with this?
@@nomandad2000 hi, I think two or three is fine once you get used to making the transitions. Like learning the timing on a looper pedal it just takes practice, but one of the premium songs I bought ( sultans of swing ) has 17 transitions plus fills lol

I agree drum machine and a single guitar can be cheesy but, the boss rhythm partner is a different animal. It does the drum machine thing but, also has great earthy percussion sounds that lay on an acoustic track. It is awesome for that.
As a drummer branching out to guitar, I'm offended. As a musician I can truly appreciate the pedal. Keep up the great videos Sean! You are my go to when i want to expand my music theory so i can start thinking on my own and outside the box.

Yeah its the Aeros loop station for $600. Would be nice if they made an affordable looper without all the multi track bells and whistles that could midi sync.
If Stich borrows this and uses the Zeppelin songs, it’ll bring him back to his bedroom on Long Island where he heard more than just the sweet sounds of Zeppelin.
Hello, tell me please. Is it possible to download the finished drum track for the whole song in wav format. ??? and play a concert without a drummer, only through this pedal. thanks
Hi there. I have my beatbuddy for years. Sadly, it does not come with the artists. Is it because its a newer version of the beatbuddy? If not, where would I find the artists found in this review?
I recently purchased my very own Beat Buddy. I am enjoying playing along with beats on the flashdrive. My pedal does not have the individual songs on the flashdrive that your pedal features. Cold Play???? Is that something that you paid extra for?
Wow, you're very talented and your instructional videos are solid. Watched the one about bare minimum music theory as well. New sub here appreciates it.
i have one and yes the premium content that is now available is really cool. I like the BB.! it doesn't hit on my wife, steal my beer show up late and it can be silenced... just sayin
@@seandaniel23 That's what I was hoping for too. The new Boss RC-10R does kinda have a looper and drum machine but it doesn't seem to be as a good as a drum machine as the Beat Buddy....
@@seandaniel23 I would like to see how that works for you. I own one of these pedals and I like it, but for gigging I find it less than useful because you have to bend down in between each song to select the beat.
That's awesome! It's great to jam along with actual drum tracks. I've got a Boss RC 300 loopstation and it comes with some pre-recorded drums...but lacks the fills. Lately, I've moved over to my Novation Circuit to create my own drum patterns and have some synth bass
ive always had problems looking for a drummer with good attitude, good time keeping, good in covers, good in keeping it as it is.. And so on.. I think i just found one here😅
Is there a way to have it it just play through the song parts in correct order like a sequencer? It is hard to remember to change the drum parts in the right places when you are singing.
You can arrange the parts using the BB manager. Bu doing this, you can create you own playlist of songs with the right places for you gig. Feel free to contact us at support@singularsound.com
I'm not your buddy, guy! :) No really I'm gonna love playing with a beat instead of a click....and sometimes I lose track of the click. I'm also a singing guitarist so I'm hoping I can record guitar, vox, and drums into the Zoom L-20 all in one go for a tighter initial song idea with each instrument on its own track(s). I'll add bass guitar over that. I want to create New Order/Cure/Smiths type songs along with synthpop ideas....so I'll be looking for some 'artificial' kits too (beyond just Techno). I may end up loading up my own sounds and beats. The BPM display is critical for a recording mixer so it all lines up if you're going to finish a song on a DAW. Great demo and thanks for not having annoying background music!
Great sounding drum machine in a guitar pedal, But a complete wast of money for me. I purchased the premium content too only to find out it doesn’t play the songs and allow you to play along. If anyone has this and sultans of swing from the premium library which has 27 transitions please try playing along with the record and tell me how you did it. I have no clue when to transition, plus timing when to step on the pedal and for how long is a pain. I’m the singer and rhythm guitarist, I have a helix on the floor and trying to tap dance on this thing during a live gig is toooo stressful. Such a shame because it’s built well, sounds great and has a decent premium library. But I’m not a live looper, don’t want to be a drummer or have to basically learn another instrument. This was supposed to solve a problem not create several more. Looks good on the shelf though !
I got the beat buddy2 and got use to it, it became an intricate part of my music. I’m a jazz blues player and it is a simple user friendly tool if used sparingly (avoid fills, and changes with double taps, avoid the intro and outro fills). Access your basic pattern, tempo, etc, and use the external foot switch to start and stop. Here the caveat.......AFTER 2 MONTHS OF USE IT DIED. I want another one but afraid of throwing the money away. READ THE REVIEWS!!!!! If you can’t afford to replace it, probably shouldn’t buy it.
You can program the footswitch to change your songs by foot so you don't have to bend down to change between songs. It took me awhile to find this option but sure makes changing songs a breeze.
The other night I saw a "one man band" that was so talented. But what blew me away was the drum backing. This little box also has a higher IQ than most drummers I've met.

Yeah they sell memory cards you can load with songs
@@seandaniel23 thank you for responding. I am wondering, are the memory cards midi files? Or are they another format? Wav files? Jim S.
Wow, you're very talented and your instructional videos are solid. Watched the one about bare minimum music theory as well. New sub here appreciates it.
No Monster Magnet or orange goblin beats? This must be the mainstream robot version. (For 95% of American people)
i have one and yes the premium content that is now available is really cool. I like the BB.! it doesn't hit on my wife, steal my beer show up late and it can be silenced... just sayin
does it come with music notation or something like that to help play the various songs they have drum beats for?
It would be awesome with a volume pedal
Ok, now I want to see you do a Beat Buddy + Looper pedal video. :D
I'll try!
@@seandaniel23 That's what I was hoping for too. The new Boss RC-10R does kinda have a looper and drum machine but it doesn't seem to be as a good as a drum machine as the Beat Buddy....
Wassup Sean, I love my Beat Buddy. 🤙🏼
Would you use this in a solo gig?
I should make a video actually doing that :)
@@seandaniel23 I would like to see how that works for you. I own one of these pedals and I like it, but for gigging I find it less than useful because you have to bend down in between each song to select the beat.
@@brianlibert - I use it coz' not a very good guitarist. Footswitch is used to change songs. No bending down necessary.
The beatbuddy has such perfect timing that I can't blame anyone for my shitty playing. 😂😂 I'm having a great time with mine.
whoa ! Brandon Flowers !
That's awesome! It's great to jam along with actual drum tracks. I've got a Boss RC 300 loopstation and it comes with some pre-recorded drums...but lacks the fills.
Lately, I've moved over to my Novation Circuit to create my own drum patterns and have some synth bass
Nice!
Does it work with a looper pedal?
I'll try and figure it out :)
ive always had problems looking for a drummer with good attitude, good time keeping, good in covers, good in keeping it as it is..
No really I'm gonna love playing with a beat instead of a click....and sometimes I lose track of the click.
What is that guitar? Ima need to have that guitar. Thanks. X
the second you said it has specific artists loaded onto it, I knew you'll play Chili Peppers! :D
:)
Just couldn’t get on with it, having to continually bend down to change the settings did me in
You can program the footswitch to change your songs by foot so you don't have to bend down to change between songs. It took me awhile to find this option but sure makes changing songs a breeze.
