I recently upgraded to a AMD 5900X and Asus x570 motherboard for video editing. I use a 32 gb ramdisk out of my 64 gb of memory for video editing. It runs ok but the Intel 12th gen and 128 gb of ddr5 would have been a much better choice. Thanks for the video and I can't wait to see your next videos on 11/4/2021 when the embargo are lifted.
I'm not planning on getting 12th gen intel, but it's always nice to watch your reviews. You're very detailed, down to even talking about PCB layers and how they affect signalling. Not a lot of reviewers even mention that. Keep it up bro!
Do you have to add a heatsink to use the 4th m.2 slot that does not have one? Would it even fit with graphics card over it? Does it run at the same speed?
Will this motherboard work with previous gen CPU coolers? Namely Corsair h150i elite cappilex or Asus ROG strix lc 360 (it comes with adjustable screws)

I had an issue with this board and a 12700K. I got it to spin up fans, asus aura lights were on but no post and no ez debugger lights. I tried onboard video and a card, I swapped out drive , memory sticks cleared CMOS etc I The PSU is fine and working in another machine. I returned it but wish I had tried using the 4 pin power plug that documentation said was not needed. It is now out of stock. It was a great deal. Do you think that 4 pin might have been the issue or the CPU was bad? I have never had such an issue.

Can you confirm that the audio codec is indeed the Realtek S1200A? According to the ASUS website, this board only has the Realtek ALC 897. (RUclips won't let me include the relevant URL in this comment.)
Hi there, I noticed you mentioned the HDMI is 2.1 which should support 4K@120hz but you mentioned only 4K@60hz? Also, I was looking at the ASUS website to find out if the HDMI version is indeed 2.1 and couldn't find it. Can you direct me to where you found this information? Thanks! Great Review!
Hi Vainer, All Z690 TUF/ PRIME / STRIX series share the same integrated graphics modules. Events hough this HDMI module is compatible up to 2.1 standard, it is up to the manufacturer to allow its full clock abilities. Not having enough SOC power can be a factor forcing manufacturers to cap video outputs.

You need the LGA1700 adapter kit, even if the holes will line up the height spacing for the new standoffs is lower for the proper pressure contact between the cooler and the cpu.
@@graphffiti With the ASUS boards with the 2 sets of holes the fitting the mb is not the issue but the new 12 series cpu is a lower profile chip than the older cpu's and the issue is more of the older brackets do not provide the correct amount of clamping force between the cooler and cpu that the unit was actually designed to have. Personally I feel if it was not an issue these cooler manufacturers would not be changing the stand offs for shorter ones in the retro bracket kits if the older ones were fine..

@@willl4575 yes everything is fine. I'm using my old DDR4 ram is only 2666mhz. I will upgrade it in the future. Just make sure your aio cooling/cooler is compatible with LGA 1700 socket. That was the "biggest" problem I had but I found the ASUS LC 240 ARGB AIO COOLING.
Thanks for the reply dude! yeah at 2666mhz you ain't gonna have any problems, I'll be ok with the AIO because its built per my specs by PCSpecialist (SI). Since you can choose (almost) everything I went with that mobo and 1 stick of 4GB DDR4 2400mhz :) got he 2x8GB 4000mhz and 512GB PCIE 4.0 waiting nice and cosy for when PC arrives. I'm glad to hear your LGA 1700 issues got fixed, phew! Thanks again man!

Personnaly I'd go for AORUS first for its bios robustness and manufacturing quality. ASUS 2nd (TUF or ROG) for its raw power and bandwidth abilities. Both are extremely reliable.

Have a seagate 2TB firecuda 530 installed. Latest bios. Can only get 5000 MBs. It is advertised as 7300 MBs. Not impressed! This board is crap for nvme speed.

Military grade is just marketing slang for tantalum capacitors the TUFF brand sucks, I had to return 2 D.O.A. B550 motherboards at the beginning of the year never again... The build quality on the MSI motherboards is far superior compared to the ASUS "TUFF's".
