Agreed. And I could see some gradual improvement in that domain in the past 2 years. Tangible and smart improvement on their passive cooling components.
My ASUS TUF board just went out. It just randomly no longer boots Windows. It reads all my SSD drives but says "No bootable device found." I tried to reinstall Windows via USB and CD drive. The motherboard reads both the USB drive and the CD drive but still says "No bootable device found." Instead of wasting my hours, possibly days trying to fix the issue, I just bought a brand new MSI motherboard. This is my THIRD ASUS motherboard to fail in the past 10 years. Never buying ASUS again.
Sorry to hear this, I've had an Asus Maximus ROG, I think it is, (it's a socket 1155 motherboard), for about... maybe 10 years? Has stood the test of time.
The new X 870 has the unlocking button for the PCIE on the new, tough motherboard boards but it makes no sense to buy them over this since it doesn’t have as many lanes
I am interested in the version without Wi-Fi (TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS) ask if it has the bios version that allows temperature control of the Ryzen 9 7950X. Thank you.
BTW, the TUF X670E WiFi is almost exactly the same board as the PRIME X670E (not the P), minus a couple of buttons (one of them is precisely a PCIe quick release).
It's absolutely true. The PCB is the same. The coloring and paint is different. The components are about the same. The only difference will be the "TUF" treatment which implies more robust chokes , audio caps , and surge protection.
Very impressed someone notices. Inspecting hundred of boards makes it easy to see.... but when u buy a board every 2 years it's another story. Kudos to you sir.. and ur weirdly Lazer sharp sense of observation. Must have an hawk in the family.
Hi Laurent, I'm planning on getting a new mobo so I'm stuck between the ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI and the TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI, they're in the same price range in my country so which one would be a better buy?
The chipset on this board gets extremely hot. on my ASUS TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WiFi motherboard, the chipset temperature according to HWiNFO without forced cooling in an open state (without a case) reaches 80 degrees Celsius at an ambient temperature of 26 degrees Celsius (without any overclocking operations and when the system is idle). With 140mm Bi Quiet forced air, the temperature never drops below 53 degrees Celsius. This is epic fail!!!
@@gugueta5 This is my first purchase of a platform on Ryzen and the last (after the discovery that the chipset consumes 7+7 watts and gets so hot), now only Intel, so I can’t advise anything. but if you still want to, then I would take a closer look at the msi x670e carbon wifi, because the chipset heatsink seems more massive and even if it also gets hot there due to the fact that the chipsets are located together and not under the video card, you can organize the airflow yourself (on Asus this is impossible because the video card blocks everything)
Mine is at 60c. Thermaltake View 71 case. (edit). I just ran Watch Dogs Legion and the chipset temps #1 61.9c max. #2 63.7 max. (edit) I changed the minimum gpu fan speeds to 30%. Now @ 45.6 and 50.1. 7900x3d / Strix 4090 oc.
Hi Laurent. Do you know if this mobo can support a 2x48GB Corsair Vengeance set? I understand x670E in general now support 48GB RAMs but I wonder if this one too? I looked up the support page for this mobo and the RGB version of my RAM set is supported, but not the non-RGB (which is the one I'd like to get). I just have this thought that the support page lacks more RAM models listed because they haven't been tested (for example, ROG Strix Gaming has many of 2x48GB model listed as supported, including my model)...
It does support 48 as well as long as u update the BIOS. Not all the supported RAM sticks are listed. If the RGB version is supported, chances are that urs are too
Wait… are you saying there is a TB connector on it…. I think you are overstating this… I think that is just the connector to get the PCIE Thunderbolt expansion card hooked up… (still like that! Have one on my Strix Board!)
well yes :) that's what i assume viewers would understand :). I apologize if I was not clear enough about that, i'll make sure to clarify on the next reviews :)
Hey Laurent, if you're open to requests I have a couple of Z690 mobos I would be ecstatic to see you review: the EVGA Z690 Classified, and the GIGABYTE Z690 Gaming X DDR4. If you could do either or both of those reviews I would be eternally grateful. Merci!
X670 will support around 2 max 3 Gens. They already said 2025 will be finished or 2024...dont remember anymore but that means 7000 and 2 years later the next gen and than kts over
No, that was a graphic for the X670 chipset(s) which only extends PCIe 5 support to the CPU linked NVMe. On this particular board, even if u use a pcie 5.0 NVMe, you can also use the the full extent of the CPU linked PCIe (5) export.
Q LED will come forsure soon also to Tuf because of the insane Price of X mainboards. At least to the X Mainboards. Maybe 1 or 2 Mainboard gens and than they add it. They need new ideas for their MBs so they will do it one day.
glad I made a good choice, i will be getting mine for my 7700x in a few days. going back to Ryzen cpu's after a couple years away. but I enjoyed the 1600x 2600x and 3600x in the past.
6400MT/s memory support is kinda low comparing to Asrock, MSI and Gigabyte X670. btw at 6:55, the orange M.2 slot at the bottom right is conneted to the CPU socket, not the chipset.
great video, ..i have the same motherboard, but their is something about ram on this mb that i cannot understand, this motherboard have a 6400 MHz clockspeed limit; but on asus website this model can go up to 8000MHz !!! does it men my MB can accept a 8000MHz clockspeed in the future ? or its a new different model ?
i have this motherboard and have been running it with no issues other than not being able to enable docp profile on my ram. motherboard boots to safe mode and asks to undo any bios changes made. one i remove docp computer boots fine. also i noticed on the back of my motherboard there appears to be some type of leakage coming from the front vrm pads or something and has stained the back part of the motherboard.

Yes doing the taichi first week of December
Laurent, Hi and Gracias for all videos!
If you have the money to buy x670 e gaming wifi and Tuf x670, which would you buy?
I'd go for a Strix x670e-E
@@Laurentschoice thank you! Will try to get it that one! ❤️
Thank you so much for the amazing review, I hope you can answer my simple question, should I pick this one or Asus B650E-E for AMD 7800X3D, both are the same price now!
Oh for sure. Go to the Strix B650E-E!!
@Laurentschoice bless you bro! Gonna order it!
why?@@Laurentschoice
Great review very detailed
Great informative video, thanks for sharing
My "bleep" is still "affectionately" named Goliath. David an Goliath. I can't rename him because he's legendary. 🤣
Hey man just wondering, is it possible to do reviews for mini itx boards? Like the x670e itx from asus? I feel like only atx boards just get talked about.
Because full atx boards have the most features
Got ur back bro
would you recommend this over the aorus elite x670 for a ryzen 5 7600x im planning to overclock a tad bit?
Great review. Thanks.
This motherboard or the ROG STRIX X670E-E Gaming WiFi ? Also for the upcoming X3D processors? Would the surcharge for the more expensive be worth it or would it not matter?
I keep getting a yellow dram led, swaped out the MB, ram 2x, power supply. what should I try next?
Bonjour Laurent,
If you have the choice between an Asus TUF Gaming X670E-Plus WiFi and Asus ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming WiFi, which will you choose?
This is my first PC build
R 7800X3D / Asus TUF RX 7800XT OC
I would like to OC the processor and graphics card with AI tweek.
NewEgg in the US has this board on $100 discount with a 7700X combo. So $230 is better for this board.
Just ordered one. Going to use it will a ryzen 9 7950x
"Gets less tacky every year." The x870 update sure broke that trend.
This was the m/b I bought when I got my 7700x - no regrets, although I agree, until I realised I had to flash it before doing anything it did upset me! However, the flashing process was so easy. Also the BIOS is easy to use and the thermal management is in my opinon great - a couple of high flow case fans, and an AIO and you're laughing!
Mate what cooler you went for and Power supply?
@@coolissimo69 hi mate. Corsair RM1000e for the PSU and Corsair h150i elite. Idle or just low use steady around 35C. Under sustained load gets to around 80c (gaming,).
@@lehoff Thanks for the answer. Isn't 1000 W , over the top? And the Corsair h150i elite is the 360 mm ?
@@coolissimo69 yes 1000w is overkill but I've had it a while and it only draws what it needs ultimately. Yes 360mm radiator 👍
@@lehoff my case wont fit that radiator what is your case?
their RTX 3000 TUF coller design is the best out there, separate heatsinks for vrm and memory plus the gpu die itself and all aluminium shroud. Cools like a strix at a much smaller size
Agreed. And I could see some gradual improvement in that domain in the past 2 years. Tangible and smart improvement on their passive cooling components.
By the way, I always love reading you comments Jake. You seem to know your stuff. Good to have you on the channel :)
I can't wait for your rage when you talk about the Asus X670E-I pricing 😅
I am waiting for more comparison of all the x670e main stream mobos first!
What ram sticks are you using in this video??? On their website Corsair doesn’t have compatibility with the x670e for some reason so I’m confused.
hehe ik this is a year later but i noticed at 9:06 your hdmi 2.1 and DP 1.4 markers are swapped. loving the video though. thanks!
Can we have dual GPU setup on this motherboard?
Bios?
Sometimes you get unlucky and often it's a cheap psu.
My Tuf motherboard has lasted forever. I had a no bootable device found on my old laptop once and it was the hard drive
I have this problem to.
The new X 870 has the unlocking button for the PCIE on the new, tough motherboard boards but it makes no sense to buy them over this since it doesn’t have as many lanes
Do you still recommend buying this board for upcoming AMD processor?
All X670E motherboards have 8 layered PCBs, even the entry level ones. Please check your info first.
Is this board really enough to “seriously overclock” a 7950x? I see so many different reviewers saying it’s “unimpressive” and so on…..
Would you still recomended it today with these Asus BIOS failures?
Hi Laurent,
I'm planning on getting a new mobo so I'm stuck between the ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI and the TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS WIFI, they're in the same price range in my country so which one would be a better buy?
Which one you got?
ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI, had issues with ram compatibility but now it's good

Great video. Good enough for me to subscribe. And I don't really subscribe to tech RUclipsrs apart from Gamer's Nexus (not even Linus!).
Nice glasses
Парень ты здорово ведёшь обзоры! Продолжай дальше, тебе это идёт!
Just a heads up, this board has some funky memory issues (like only taking 2 sticks out of 4 for some common memory)
Welcome to amd5. That’s a feature
Which mobo do you recommend for 7950x?
I'm not a fan of these temps on a PCH.
If the RGB version is supported, chances are that urs are too
How many SSD can fit into the motherboard? 2x or 3x?
Would this motherboard bottleneck with a amd 9 7900x and a RTX 4090FE?? I’m planning on building a set up like this
Which would be better this or the just released msi x670e gaming plus cant find much info as yet on the msi
Merci!
Evga yes i could. Ill look into it
@@Laurentschoice awesome, I'll be looking forward to it!
X670 will support around 2 max 3 Gens. They already said 2025 will be finished or 2024...dont remember anymore but that means 7000 and 2 years later the next gen and than kts over
Can't really understand what you mean at 11:33. Does that mean if I connect a pcie5 nvme SSD, that I can't use the speed of a GPU with pcie 5?
No, that was a graphic for the X670 chipset(s) which only extends PCIe 5 support to the CPU linked NVMe.
On this particular board, even if u use a pcie 5.0 NVMe, you can also use the the full extent of the CPU linked PCIe (5) export.
What about its little brother, the B650 plus WiFi? Is it worth it?
This one have better VRM and PCIe gen 5
How does this 1 compare to the b650e rog e wifi can't find why is pick this 1 over this
Q LED will come forsure soon also to Tuf because of the insane Price of X mainboards. At least to the X Mainboards. Maybe 1 or 2 Mainboard gens and than they add it. They need new ideas for their MBs so they will do it one day.
Would you choose this or an ROG strix B650e-e gaming wifi? I can get B650 open box brand new for same price.
Did you have answer? And what did you choose?
@@nicocotier7864I went with the TUF Gaming X670E-PLUS WIFI
@@BreadAndGatorade Thx you. Why did you choose him? ROG strix B650e-F can be a good choose too?
@@BreadAndGatoradetoday the configurations seem older than one B650E-F. What did you think?
glad I made a good choice, i will be getting mine for my 7700x in a few days. going back to Ryzen cpu's after a couple years away. but I enjoyed the 1600x 2600x and 3600x in the past.
6400MT/s memory support is kinda low comparing to Asrock, MSI and Gigabyte X670.
btw at 6:55, the orange M.2 slot at the bottom right is conneted to the CPU socket, not the chipset.
Zee escargot 🤣🤣🤣 Lovely!!! 🎉
great video, ..i have the same motherboard, but their is something about ram on this mb that i cannot understand, this motherboard have a 6400 MHz clockspeed limit; but on asus website this model can go up to 8000MHz !!! does it men my MB can accept a 8000MHz clockspeed in the future ? or its a new different model ?
Everything I have read says 6000MHz is the sweet spot for ram. That's what I have and have no issues.
Enabled EXPO on the board and all's good.
Thank you sir
i have this motherboard and have been running it with no issues other than not being able to enable docp profile on my ram. motherboard boots to safe mode and asks to undo any bios changes made. one i remove docp computer boots fine. also i noticed on the back of my motherboard there appears to be some type of leakage coming from the front vrm pads or something and has stained the back part of the motherboard.
I really hesitate between three motherboards, the TUF X670, the rog strix B650 F gaming or the 100€ less tuf B650 and i really don’t know what to take
Im reviewing the X670 Strix E this week, will do the B650 after that.
What did you take?
