I got the amazing opportunity to go to fish for change in guanaja this past summer and stayed at fly fish guanaja I will say this rankin may come across scary but you pleasing him feels awesome met all three of his kids his oldest is a badass and caught a permit while I was down there . Guanaja is a special place the people there are so welcoming and loving and I miss it so much
Perhaps things have changed since our time there. We spent our honeymoon at a little resort on the northwest end of the island. Landed on a gravel strip, met the resort host at captain Al’s thirst and last stop and boated to the resort. Didn’t see a vehicle at the time, spent 7 days there and quite a bit of time wandering their main area of commerce. Did catch “bones” and had a great time mixing with the locals. Experience of a lifetime.
Really love this little island treasure. I visited in '05 when I was fifteen. Perfect weather and amazing pristine water for snorkeling. Would love to revisit someday.
@@permitfisher did you fish at all? I really recommend looking into fly fish guanaja it is awesome the guides are the funniest and nicest people I have ever met and then the kids man oh man are the local kids fun
@@permitfisher we’re you on the south side of the island with all the bonefish? The south side is juiced with fish. I got to stay at flyfish guanaja and it was insane the guides were awesome. Caught my first bonefish up near northeast bight. It was a solid 9-10 lb. Had so many shots at permit but they would follow up to the boat but just wouldn’t eat. Tides were not good. I highly recommend staying at fly fish guanaja if the conditions are right you will get on your permit.
nice i lived in savannah bight for about a year and would trek over to mangrove bight occasionally. it really is one of those rare places where it's still very untouched by tourism and such. the people there are almost always friendly and there's awesome food because it's all stuff they grow or kill and they know how to cook it. the coral is pretty undamaged and snorkeling/diving is FANTASTIC. i find myself longing to go back after all these years
I am from Cortes, Honduras but I've never been on the bay islands. After watching this , I kinda want to go and live there so I can help out and share my knowledge with the community. If you are from the islands...what are your suggestions ?
Solo espero que estos chavos nunca caigan en la tentación del vicio y del dinero fácil. Dios los bendiga y los abraza un pescador mexicano. Oh, and if any of you fly bums ever fish this place, PLEASE tip $ with your heart.
He says they are really poor, in my opinion they’re the richest people in the world. Look at what they got what we wouldn’t give to live in those conditions and surroundings. I don’t have much materially, but when is that ever added any real quality of life. This is where we should be sending our donations…..
