Leaning this language because a friend says it’s a hard language. Now I’m actually interested into learning this language.
did you ever end up learning it
Všetkým prajem veľa šťastia v ovládaní Slovenského jazyka :) Pochádzam zo Slovenska a verím, že sa ľudia dôkazu naučiť tento krásny jazyk, tak ako ja sa učím Anglicky! Ešte raz veľa šťastia prajem a pozdravujem všetkých zo Slovenska :)
Nice.... Thank you.... Soon I will be in Slovakia
As a South Slavic (Serbian) speaker I´m always amazed how much I understand Slovak! Like reading some wiki page in Slovak is never a problem to me... I´d even add that of all non-South Slavic languages, Slovak is the most similar to Serbian/Croatian. (Unlike the Czech... there are just to many consonants involved :) )
funny, because for me polish and czech are easy to understand and yall down there... not so much :D
I wonder how others struggle learning my language lol
Hi
Slovak is easy
Ja tiez coskoro bude mat hodnotu miliard
I watched the czech video, and both languages have almost the same words 🤔
😂
straggling ……
As someone who has tried to learn basic phrases for many languages thanks to RUclips, I can confidently say this is one of the best videos I've ever watch. Pronouncing words at an increasing pace is incredibly useful. The text you include with each term is helpful. And most importantly, you cover every necessary expression and nothing else. I wish you spoke every language so you could make all of these videos I watch.
We appreciate this praise a lot - thank you Jason! Check out the "Language basics" series on our channel. You can find similar videos on languages like Croatian, Czech, Greek, Romanian and more.

My ex was Slovakian and she lived and worked in England and we went back to Slovakia many times to a village near a place called Topoľčany and honestly what an amazing country and amazing people 🥰, i am so grateful i had the opportunity to stay in a small village where people were close and knew each other and all had huge gardens full of fresh fruit and veg ......i am getting off topic ha ha ha i digress . It was so nice to watch this because it brought back memory's of going to the local village shops trying my best to get a sentence out in an English accent 🤭, and i had forgot a few words in slovak , but thanks to this video i can almost put a sentence together again 😋 Thank you
I'm half Slovak, but my grandpa died before I could learn anything😢 thank goodness for YT
I am trying to learn Slovak or some basics of it so I can fit in a little more with my girlfriend and her family :) Thanks for the help!
Hah same lol
Hi Sasha! Thank you for teaching me these phrases! It was really helpful, because my Mom is from Slovakia, and I want to be able to talk to her in Slovak and understand what she is saying. She actually has said most of these phrases before, I just never really fully understood what they meant. You were an excellent teacher, and thank you for teaching me some other useful phrases, too! :) Dik!
Thanks Ellie, glad you found it helpful :)
Greetings for you and your Mom from Bosnia and Herzegovina😉 🇧🇦🇧🇦🇧🇦
lol my wife said every words minutes before you. I personally learnt a lot and my beautiful wife loved it. Keep up these tiny classes, it helps us non Slovaks.
Great video! Exactly what I was looking for.
hope you upload more of many words we need to know.
Thanks for sharing.... Very much helpful....
Thank You!
very good teacher!
Thank you! :)
Very good! Thanks for the video... Enjoyed learning some Slovak, good that you repeat the words many times and repeat them every now and then...

Super nice video!
Please make more videos! It is so hard to find resources to learn Slovak. My grandpa wanted my dad and his siblings to be "Americanized" so he never taught them Slovak. It makes me so sad that the language was lost in one generation. I want to learn it and travel to Liesek and Chlebnice where my great grandparents are from.
We're working on expanding the series but our travel experts are now very busy with traveling guests :) but we can definitely help you plan your trip to Slovakia, if you needed - check out jaywaytravel.com/slovakia
same experience, Lola; sister and I are planning a trip to the 'old country,' hope we at least get the basics...this channel will be a good start!
When she started talking about one of the most important words to know anywhere in the world, who else thought she was going to say _pivo_ ?

Perfect 👍

The way you teach its amazing bigginer could more help your video
Can we use Nastredano for dovienia instead?
Also do you Slovaks use Ahoi for both hello and goodbye among friends?
What about dobre Vecer and dobre Rano? Is Dobre Rano only used from 12am to 10am only? What about good afternoon?
Hi, if you mean "na shledanou", that's Czech. Slovaks understand it of course, from the Czechoslovak era, but also because culturally there's a lot of crossover in terms of friends, family, and media, but they prefer to hear goodbyes in their own language, so use "dovidenia". Incidentally "dovidenia" is more universally understood in other Slavic-speaking countries, and even to Czechs.
Yes, Slovaks also use ahoj as an informal hello and goodbye. Or čau (like ciao in Italian).
Yes, rano really only applies until around 10am. After that it's just 'day'. The evening ("večer") doesn't start till around 5 or 6 pm, and is more a function of when sunset is. If it's starting to get dark, it's evening.
The concept of "good afternoon", which literally translated would be "dobre popoludnie" doesn't exist in Slovak, or Czech. They simply say "dobrý deň" - it's a lot less syllables!
what did she say at 2:17? Big Deek means thank you very much? :)

𝕾𝖕𝖎𝖈𝖞🌶🌶
I'm slovak but I cannot speak that well
Deek
Similar to russian but different in some char same word
Yes, as a Slavic language there are quite a few similarities. Although Slovakia's quite tiny, its language seems to be the most universally understood throughout the Slavic-speaking world.
@@JayWayTravel ah ok, I would like to visit after corona :)
Ahoj ako sa mas
Dik xDD
It looks same language of polish language. It's similar.
They’re both West Slavic languages so you’re kind of right ☺️ we also have a Polish basics video online if you want to compare:

@@JayWayTravel yup I want to. Lemme see. Thanks
i highly recommend learning vychodnarcinu instead of basic slovakian language
Language are similar to Balkan countries.
Yes, in our experience Slovak is probably the most universally understood Slavic language for other Slavic speakers. Maybe because Slovakia's surrounded by other Slavic nations (apart from Hungary, but hey, Hungarian's very much it's own thing!)
@@JayWayTravel You right. Hungarian are similar to Finnish..sounds like that. I can understand a lot of Slavic languages because of my travelling across Eastern Europe.
Ahoji Prosím
800 túl sok...
slovakia and republic czech like a same language
no
saaaame but different, like all slavic languages to a certain extent, but still same...but different
Who is Czech and can understand 95% of it?
Im Polish and I can understand that
Hoy is Semitic.
For me as the native speaker of Ukrainian it sounds like the West-most dialect of Ukrainian - the Lemko dialect! Everything sounds very familiar!
