    Just what I needed. So to reiterate: 1 unit in Nomad = 1mm. Got it. Thank you very much!

    This is how I do it too. I think it’s best to start with your rough model/blockout scaled to the right size at the beginning before doing detailed work. It matters when creating parts that must have a minimum detail or wire size, or minimum clearance between parts to avoid fusing when printing. Plus then you will know which areas are too low poly to print or areas that can be decimated without losing detail.

      Excellent tips. 100% agree with that process

    I get asked about scaling in Nomad sculpt almost every week. It’s no easy if you are new to the program but once you understand the scale and the measure tools it’s super easy.
    Have a go and let me know how you get on and share any more tips along the way.

    Great vid and super helpful! I have Picaslicer and have dabbled with it a little. It’s great that the iPad is now becoming far more useful for the 3D modellers and printers amongst us…..saves having to go to the PC every time I need to slice and send to printer, now I can do it from the couch!

    Question for you nomad guru 🙃
    After rescaling do you need to remesh at all or making it higher resolution?
    Since I do a lot of mask related models I will typically bring in a life size scan of my head and work off that to make sure the sizing is accurate. Loved this quick tutorial

    • @SouthernGFX
      @SouthernGFX  Год назад

      I don’t do any remeshing in the later stages of Modeling. If needed, I decimate the model to lower the polycount but only to a level that means it looks exactly the same as the high poly. I might do a few more tuts along these lines as I get asked this most weeks.

      @@SouthernGFX yeah, if I model something at the “default” nomad scale then try to take it life size for printing I will usually need to do a bit more work to it

      @SouthernGFX  Год назад +2

      @@UncleJessy just make yourself some templates inside Nomad at real world scale and then always sculpt at the output sizes. I used to do that with Cinema4D and Maya.

    thx alot this is very helpfull!!! would love to see a video on how to make connectors (keys/cuts) on a toy vinyl figure, they are kind of special because they most of the time hidden... for example the head is hollow, and the eyes or teeths are placed from the inside...:D

    I didn't know nomad's scale was already in millimetres. I literally went to tinkercad, made a 10cm cube, and put it into my nomad files haha.

    This is so helpful! So for resin print tolerance, I think it’s best around .4mm?

    i guess you have to reedo some of these videos, things seem to have been moved around after the last update. the "perspective" is not called perspective but grid on my version. And there is no "size" feature under the voxel drop down, i guess its somewhere else now :P

    • @rolfalm
      @rolfalm 4 месяца назад

      i found a new way, its by clicking the gismo, then you get a "scale" menu where you can type in how big you want the box to be, then resize the figure after that, however, when clicking in the resized figure just to see if its correctly in size, the numbers are all over wrong. if this software is based on the metric systen, it should not be hard to make a system where you type, x,y,z in milimetres, press ok and then you got it?? why all this workaround?.
      I would say its easier to just export it and import it to prusaslicer or whatever, even the stoneage software meshmixer had such a feature.

    When you merged all the scenes into one model by voxel merge then you said you could do "join" too. Where is that "join" option?

    • @SouthernGFX
      @SouthernGFX  Год назад +2

      Tick two or more objects and there is a join button in the scene menu
