      Yep
      Worked in an alignment shop.
      Position the ball joint squarely in the hole of the control arm.
      Place a jack under the ball joint with some , or somewhat pressure on the jack.
      Beat (that word may be offensive to some but common sense people will know how hard to strike) the control arm down until the ball joint is seated. Maybe adding more jack pressure throughout the seating process.

  • @denimjez
    @denimjez Год назад +51

    A jack or jack stand under the control arm will stop the control arm from deflecting your hammer strikes, and you'll be able to knock out the ball joint even when rusted in there.

    I did the same thing because I didn't have a ball joint press kit!! What I DID have was a C clamp and a gate post cap😂😂 it was a major headache because it was 14⁰ outside. Wish I had come across this video 2 weeks ago when I was actually searching smh. Got the job done, but on my passenger side, I just replaced the whole lower control arm. It cost a bit more, but I just looked at it as a convenience fee🤷🏿‍♂️ Took that repair from a 9 hour trial and error physics calculation to a simple 3 hour step by step process.

    This has been doctored to make it look easy.
    It will push in the underside of that ball joint and deform it. Should also have something like a socket which contacts only the outer edge, to push it into place.
    You can see the bottom if it and that is only light metal. A cap that is pressed on. Also.
    The ball joint has already been loosened if you look closely at the start so this makes it look easy to smash it out. Not realistic.

    Надо было снять пыльник и добавить невымываемой смазки, шаровые будут ходить в 2 раза дольше!!

    I tried it this way and bent my Mastercraft C clamp all to fuck. Also, my 3 pound mall didn't do the job either FFS. Hammered the side of my thumb with it too and gave up for the day. My brother in law had a press, it worked like dream. I bought one on market place two days later for $60 Canadian. End of true story no one asked for.

      Thats funny because today I went to use my c clamp for the first time since this and it was bent like 3 inches off center
