I had the same problem with mine I saw a video where they stuck a small washer in between the frame and the main spring creating more tension and it solved the problem. Shot 500 rounds without a single light primer strike. I did contact them and they sent me a new spring I just haven’t had time to install it. The hack is very simple and easy just take the grips off and wedge it towards the bottom of the spring and you will feel the difference in tension
I did the same at the range one time on a buddies gun. Until I could get back to the house. It worked fine. I leathered the spring for him when I got home. But a shim is definitely another option. Thanks for posting it. I had forgotten about it. Much faster than a ball ping and a file. Lol.
I agree with that. The Miami Heritage's even though they've always been inexpensive. We're at least mechanically sound. Then you take Taurus buys them out. And now quality is gone to hell. And I can tell you from experience customer service sucks.
I have a Heritage Barkeep, with the .22lr cylinder, everything’s fine. Shoots good. The .22 mag cylinder will misfire occasionally. I may try the little spring tightening trick on it, see if that helps. It’s possible I got a bum cylinder, they’re not that expensive, I could order another, and test it out. I want to run a few more rounds through it once it warms up, see if I can’t pinpoint the problem. Until then, I’ll keep it loaded with .22lr, since that’s more dependable.
@@HamiltonOutdoors some one needs to take responsibility at heritage roughrider. It looks like they have poor customer service. Word gets around when things like this happen s. That s how companies go out of business 😒. I would demand for them to give you a new gun.
These guns are cheap. They are known for problems. Most are simple to fix. Light strikes is a common problem. It usually only takes a few minutes to fix. When a new part is needed they are cheap to buy. I keep spare parts on hand for my Rough Riders. Then again I keep spare parts for my Kimber custom 1911 too. Guns are like anything else. Sometimes they need repairs. When you buy a cheap gun like the Rough Rider, you better learn to take care of it and learn to repair it as needed. Or it won't last you long. 😅
I bought a heritage a month ago. Sent it back a day after I shot it. Cylinder jams. Got it back 4 days ago. Cylinder still jams. Don't waste ya money on these pieces of junk. Buy a Ruger. Oh plus customer service is a joke. Called over 30 times and could never speak to anyone.
Check to see if the hammer is hitting on the safety. Very common. It only takes it to slightly touch it. Or check to see if the hammer is off-center. It may need a shim.
I have 3 Rough Riders with different barrel lengths and I’ve never had a miss fire or any other problem with them. I’ve owned them for 5 years and love shooting them.
Yeah, I just bought one of these, it’s doing the same thing. Never know when it will misfire. First 6 shoots misfired. Then after going another spin, they went off. Then it was random. Shoot 100 rounds. Misfired 25 times
Same for me. I bought mine a couple weeks ago. Just got to fire it today. Misfired the first shot out of the box. It misses at least 2 out of every 5. Sad. Wish I didn't buy this one.
I've also had this happen. I'm wondering if the misfiring has more to do with the manufacturing of 22 ammo. When I think about it, even the mildest 22 LR rounds today are hotter than they used to be. Ammo of all kinds is just getting hotter. Maybe the manufacturing of 22 LR is suffering because of that.
You may need to make your spring longer in the handle. This is easily done with a ball ping hammer. On a flat metal surface tap the sides of the spring. Then lay it flat and tap the end. Take a flat file and flatten the end slightly. Check it in your gun until you get the right length. It is easy to make it to long this way. Check it often. Gently file off material if it is too long. The hammer will not work properly if it is too long. Check it often. Sometimes this is needed on new springs as well.
Just yesterday I picked up a new Ruger Wrangler and lo and behold I have the same light primer strike misfire problem. I tried 4 different ammos and I'm lucky to get 1 out of 4.
I hate to hear that, I have two Ruger wranglers and both of them have worked perfectly. That doesn't mean that even the best of companies don't turn out a lemon now then. But I do no one thing with past experience with Ruger. That they will make it right, at no expense to you. And in a timely manner. I know no one wants to buy a new gun and then have to send it back for repair. Please keep us informed. Thanks for watching the video.
I have the two cylinder version and never had a problem. Mine is stamped “Miami FL”. Perhaps it’s that Taurus hasn’t fine tuned putting these together yet in the Georgia plant. I’d demand replacement or refund though. Good luck.
Don't know if anyone mentioned this. Look at where the hammer is striking. A lot of times there is a small lip on the top of the hammer that can cause it not to reach the pin very good. Grinding that off helps. You can cock the hammer and look at the area above the pin and see if it is causing light strikes.
Mine runs flawlessly. Send it back like you said and ask for a replacement. The only problem I have with mine is the screws like to come loose. I used some blue locktite and so far so good. Ask them to watch your video.
I have 2 about a year old and mine shoot great no misfires but my friend has one that misfired and we took the 5 screws off the grip frame and put a shim in front of the hammer spring then put it all together and no miss fires and lighter trigger pull if you just put a shim without taking it apart the trigger pull will be heavier don't ask me why but thatd what happens good luck!
Looks like your getting lite primer strikes. Same problem I was having. I took the hammer spring out and put a slight bend on the spring to make it heavier.
pull the firing pin cup assembly & remove about .003-.oo4 material from the face of the shoulder on the spring side of the firing pin ,,,,will give more travel to the firing spring,,,,,shimming the cylinder will fix the light strike problem but will increase the distance between cylinder & forcing cone on the barrel end,,,makes for dramatic flashes at twilight though.
My Heritage convertible 22LR/22WMR binds up when I try to use the 22LR cylinder. Will rotate three bullets and then sieze up. The 22WMR cylinder works ok. I measured the length of both cylinders and found the 22LR cylinder is .002 shorter. Not worth the hassle of paying the freight to send it in for repair. Never again.
If you just recently purchased it they will send you a shipping label for free. It will cost you nothing to send it back. Most definitely worth making them fix it or make it right. Don't let them off the hook that easy. B**** and complain till you get a replacement or they fix it.
Good video, bad gun. I just got a 4.75, both cylinders, birds head grip. It grouped fine, but to the left. Some videos said bend the front sight slightly, but when I checked it found the front sight is loose! After 100 rounds of LR and 12 rounds of magnum. Took it completely apart because I was concerned when I saw bits of metal under the hammer before ever firing it. Still trying to get it to work upon reassembly, doesn't want to make the 4 clicks.
Sounds like you got it defective gun Heritage is not known for their quality control you either get a good one or a bad one. And getting them to fix a bad one can be a chore sometimes
@@HamiltonOutdoors I finally fixed it myself, but had to disassemble it completely. Screwed the barrel slightly into the frame to correct the sight. Discovered the pall? (Part that comes up from the bottom and locks the cylinder in place) was slightly bent so it was wide at the forked end and wasn't engaging the hammer notches. That fixed it, groups 1" at 15 yards, no more malfunctions. I'll be watching for loosening screws as I didn't locktite.
Great video! Glad they gave you a new gun. I have single 6 made in Miami had for several years haven't shot it but maybe 75 rounds but works excellent. Bought a Rossi lever action 22 and 357 stainless love all three guns. Will definitely be shootin the heritage more now. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun
Yeah it was a pain in the ass, but they finally replaced it in the one they replaced it with works just fine. Like I always say there's two kind of heritage revolvers. Good ones and bad ones. And occasionally you get the bad one lol
WOW! I was gonna buy one after watching your prior Heritage revolvers. I seriously, I was just about to pull the trigger and order one today. Thanks Rob.
@@HamiltonOutdoors LOL I'm out in California and its 130 am. Bout to go to bed. What time is it there> Anyway, I always enjoy your vlogs Rob. Thanks Much!
Your firing pin housing may need disassembled and cleaned too. While it is apart inspect your firing pin for damage and the length it protrudes from the housing. Do this in hand without the spring. Be careful when disassembling the firing pin to not lose the spring or any parts. This is always the last thing I check. Seldom is it the firing pin. But I keep one on hand just in case. Most of the time it is just the hammer hitting the manual safety. A little filling on the edge of the safety usually fixes the problem. If the hammer is off center a simple shim will fix it. Don't shim it if it is not off center. Fix the safety if it is the problem.
I had that problem with a box of Winchester, one out of five wouldn't fire. Changed chamber and rotated rounds, still no fire. Wasn't the gun, just bad ammo. Not had any problem with other ammo.
Yeah I know I got some federal auto match here lately that's had a lot of duds in it. Although that wasn't the case with this gun it misfired on everything I put in it. They eventually replaced it
Based on my experience Heritage DOES NOT have gunsmiths. They have assemblers who don't know how to diagnose or fix a problem. All they do really is tighten screws and maybe replace a part now and then. Best advice I can give is if you have one of these and it breaks, throw it away. They are disposable fire arms. Caution: when you throw it away take it apart and dispose of it in separate places just to prevent some body from doing something stupid with it.
I do not disagree with your statement. Although as long as my rough riders under warranty I intend to make them at least attempt to try to repair it or as in my case replace it. Thanks for watching
Just got rid of a New Heritage Rough Rider .22/22mag. I had it for only one week, new out of the box, it misfired every 6 to 8 rounds! Hard to believe my Father's Kimmel Western Six .22 cal, that is 68 years, never misfires and is of better quality. If its new "out of the box" it should do what it was designed to do without me having to tweak it, add shims, adjust springs, file crap, etc, etc. At first I wanted to contact Heritage about the problem, but then I read 5 pages of Better Business Bureau complaints against the company. The Customer Service department from this company is weaker than their main springs!
Yes their customer service sucks! And they make two kinds of Heritage roughriders good ones and bad ones. And it's about a 50-50 draw as to what you'll get. Luckily I have only had one bad one so far.
Don't know if you got it fixed by now, but in the video it looks like the hammer is sometimes sticking (moving real slow) as it falls, on the shots that did not fire.
Sorry to hear.bought my boy one for christmas.bought two wranglers for the wife and me.boy loves history and they had a civil war model that I figured would be banned.the first time out it shot ok but the grips already are wearing the image off.
Sorry to hear that rumple, contact heritage and maybe they'll send you a spare set that you can keep the old ones on it for shooting and just put the new ones on it for presentation. Congratulations on your Ruger wranglers I think you enjoy shooting them very much. Awesome little guns
I just bought one yesterday and it’s pure junk man having same problems. Did you end up getting it replaced? It’d be nice to know what you went through before I try
Best to buy all the parts and fix it yourself as they clearly don't know how. I would disassemble it and smooth out any rough parts including the frame. Single actions are very simple guns with few parts. No reason it should not be reliable. In any case good luck.
Put 100 through my new RR bought 24hr ago. 1. Cylinder constantly locks, either lr or wmr. It seems the slight deformation of a spent round will catch in the cynlinder frame. Also some misfires with no strike mark at all- can be reloaded and fired. Cylinders spin new rounds without issue. Its only when they are discharged, casings cant spin through the frame. How much could be not enough or too much grease, or gun powder residue? I mean its called a 'revolver', should any of this really be a problem. 2. Also the ejector fell off the gun mid session, kind of hilarious (found the screw in my casings). 3. Lots of blow back of metal shards or something, makes me nervous using it. Might stick to the 9mm. Any solutions?
I have had 2 6 1/2 inch HRR with the same problem. My 4.75 shoots fine. I have a video of how i fixed the problem on the second one i bought. Just a peace of tape. Quick and easy and cheap. It may fix yours.
Out of the blue my magnum cylinder started locking up an hour ago. I'm hunting rats and now the biggest rat in my Heritage. I've had it over a year and their website says one year limited warranty. If they don't accept it tomorrow for a free repair, I'm going to be really pissed and will pawn it or something. I won't ever consider another Heritage regardless of their actions tomorrow. Mine is a Miami gun that was sent back for a crooked front sight and THAT took 3 months. I even sent an email to Brazil. Turns out it was during their move to Georgia. Sorry about your problems but I'm glad I found your video.
Does 22 LR cylinder still function as should? If so you could be getting powder build up in the Magnum cylinder, causing the shell casing not to fully seat in the cylinder, causing it to rub on the back of the frame as you try to rotate the cylinder?
@@HamiltonOutdoors It jammed with live rounds, rat shot. As I thought about it, I figured I'd try spent casings. The mag cylinder wasn't locking up at all. I couldn't get spent lr casings but on an empty cylinder, the lr didn't lock up either. I'll take live rounds out tomorrow to test both cylinders. Maybe I just mishandled the gun earlier. Thanks for responding.
i would replace the hammer spring.when you own these guns , you turn into a gunsmith.when you learn about these guns, there not so bad.i got mine new, on sale for 69.00 after rebate.
i like knowing how it works, so i can allways fix it. i bout 2 AR 15 riffle parts kits for my boyso we put them together they were easy, now we can work on them if any problems.they were from PSA .kits are cheep 400.00 to 500.00 and ther very good riffles.@@HamiltonOutdoors
That is Sad that Taurus cannot fix it after 2 times sending it back they should have fixed it right the first time Taurus should Give you a brand new pistol I am done with Taurus bought a new Taurus PT 22 pistol 10 years ago and it is junk then my Boys bought me a Taurus model 94 22 Revolver it is a good Pistol then last year I bought the Taurus TX22 and it is a great pistol So I got 2 out of three good pistols I am going to quit while I am ahead Good video Rob
Thanks Jeff for watching the video. Like I was talking to boomstick 779 yesterday and told him Taurus makes two kinds of pistols. Good ones and bad ones. Problem is you never know which one you're going to get. And then on top of that their customer service it's not the greatest, and apparently their repair service is not the greatest either. I don't think any competent gunsmith under the sun, would have sent that pistol back to me in the condition it is.
@@HamiltonOutdoors That is True I about didn’t buy the Taurus TX22 because of the way Taurus is with there customer service which I am happy I didn’t buy one when they first can out they had bad barrels mine was made with the new barrel they should send you a new pistol and I hope they do
I had a similar experience. My older HRRs are fine. The new one is a paper weight. And, their customer service has really gone downhill. I don't like the Wrangler, so I bought a Diamondback Sidekick. I'm through with Single action .22lr's for a while.
Don't know why you keep sending it back. Fix it yourself. I get it, it should work properly from the factory, but there are a couple of things you can check yourself. Look to see if the safety is touching the hammer when it falls. If all else fails call Heritage and tell them that you want a new gun. DEMAND IT.
Heritage did replace my firearm. Not without taking multiple attempts to fix it in 6 months. And yes I know I could have worked on it myself. This was more to see what kind of customer service you can expect from heritage. Don't expect much.
I am really Sorry for your trouble On this Gun, I would think the Warranty would read Repair or Replace as a option Might take that route, or if you feel Like digging in and strip it down and stone the internals, I have been lucky and never gotten a Lemon. I own the RR with the Six Inch barrel but have not fired it yet, Its Two or three years old so I think I got one from Fla, good luck and hope it all works out for you ! Enjoy all your Videos !!
Bill I may tear into it myself and use it as a teaching aid for myself. They've had the opportunity twice to fix it and they couldn't or wouldn't. So maybe I'll just make a video series out of how to fix a crappy ass revolver! LOL
Sir it looks like you ammo to me , I have had the same problem with my Ruger turned out to be the ammo and I was using CCI mini mags . Hope this helps .
No I shot all different types of ammo through it and done the same thing. I sent it back to Heritage three times. They finally decided to replace the gun that it had a defect. Thanks for watching
Dang bro. enough is enough. You have many viewers. You have been honest and conscientious. I'm convinced that their consumer care and merchandise quality control sucks. I was considering a purchase of this revolver but, not anymore. If this company wants a confident and happy clientele then it should take care of you by an immediate replacement with a working revolver. Waiting to see if they respond with a new replacement.
Yeah I'm just waiting for them to decide when they want to send me a replacement. Like I said in the earlier response they won't even answer my emails anymore. Thanks for watching
@@NicklisFamilyAdventures that's Taurus back up to their old tricks again. That's 25 to ship it to them and 25 for them to ship it back they done the same thing to me on the Taurus pt100 and I refuse I just fixed it myself
I'm sorry I told you wrong on the Black widow, I bought it new at the local gun shop. And they sent it back for me. If you can get your dealer where you bought the gun to send it back probably won't cost you anything depends on how long you've had the gun mine was new and never worked right
I have two Rough Riders. They're both junk. The chambers of all four cylinders are not properly machined, so brass gets wedged into place. It's extremely difficult to knock the brass out. And I'm not paying to have all those chambers honed, the way they should have been at the factory. Of course, the "bluing" which is just paint is chipping all over their frames. Junk.
I've always said Heritage makes two kinds of guns good ones and bad ones sounds like you got the bad ones. Send them back to Heritage and make them repair them
@@HamiltonOutdoors I've already contacted Heritage. Their "gunsmiths" don't hone the chambers of cylinders. I don't see any point in dealing with them any longer.
Great !! Just Great !!! I just got a Rough Rider.... Hope it ain't a lemon too !! But seriously, good video, these cheap pot metal guns can't be expected to be super awesome for a buck and change... About par with a Jennings ?? Have you blue loctited yours ?
Thanks for watching the video. Yes first thing I done was put blue loctite on the ejector rod housing screw and the screws that hold the grip frame on. They have a tendency to loosen up over time.
Curious 👀 does it seem to favor one ammo over another ? ? 😎 I have had no problems with my rough rider . To many variables a replacement aka new gun is probably the best solution. Main assembly workers are probably paid pennies. The gun materials don’t seem horrible or even bad. So to get the price so low to the consumer it has to be in the assembly. Stands to reason more lemons. Get a lemon send it back. There using the patent for the Colt Scout, with a few variations. So comes from a good design that in itself has potential. There fun …..however we’re not paying a $700.00 price tag and that level ,,,quality control. Probably replacing and all good. 😎😎👍. Have fun.
The more I see these reviews tho more I think these revolvers aren't worth the $100 especially if u sent it in and it still is not fixed . Thanks for the vid . I'm sure it's a problem that will fix itself with use or a heavier spring but not what u want from a new firearm plus heavier spring also means heavier trigger pull
Well I did send it back again and they replaced it with a new gun which works fine, I have seven Heritage roughrider revolvers and the rancher rifle and this one in this particular video is the only one I've had any issues with. I disagree they are worth $100 but you do get an occasional lemon
@@HamiltonOutdoors ya it seems to be just comin enough to have a few vids on here about it but for every video about the miss fire you will find hundreds of videos with proper functioning ones . At least this seems to be the only problem they suffer from . I'd rather have a gun I know what the problem may be instead of one that may break at several points ?👍 I was looking at the carbine that looks like a sweet little thing probably not for the kids because of the cylinder being close but I have always wanted a revolver carbine 😁
Sad to see this happen to ya and don't know if this will help ya but a video bass&frenzy did a video about disassembling and polishing parts on it . granted on a new gun you shouldn't have to do this but like in life nothing is fare or makes sence.
I expected to work properly. If you bought any other product for $120 you would expect it to work. Manufacturers need to be held responsible for their products. Took three times sending it back but they finally replaced it with one that worked. I guess what you're saying is I should have just paid $120 for a gun that doesn't function properly. And live with it.
Yes I agree that 22 long rifle ammunition has a inherent failure rate. Just because of the type of ammunition it is. And that's to be expected in any 22LR. But this was obviously the fault of the gun.
Well im glad i didnt get mine yet . Looks like I'll be getting the wrangler . Its obvious haratage dont care about their product. I kinda wanted the barkeep. Looks like costumer service sucks .who wants to put up that ( NOT ME )
I was going to keep it in maybe tinker with it and see if I could fix it. But I decided to email them and ask them to replace it with a new gun. Since they've had it twice and couldn't fix it. Thanks for watching I'll keep everybody informed
Firing pin or spring or firing pin channel is the problem. Even though they replaced the firing pin and spring there is a burr or something preventing the firing pin or spring from fully striking the rim of the case. I would check the firing pin channel. There is a reason that the firing pin is not fully striking the case rim. Once in a while there is a lemon. Had the same thing happen with a Ruger SR22. Frame to slide fit was so loose the pistol would not shoot a bullet group and there was no way to fix it. I saw another guy that owned an SR22 and his sights kept falling off. I won't buy any Ruger because of it just like some folks won't buy a Taurus or other brand. Does not mean the guns are all bad but sometimes the one experience with the product or the company or both is so bad it sours us.
Thanks for watching. The third time I sent it back I told him not to send that gun back. Send me a new gun or a check. As we speak there in the process of sending me a new gun. As soon as I get it we'll see if it's any better. Appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.
Actually hillbilly I've been thinking about taking an apartment myself and polishing the internals and see if I can get it running. Might make a good video series. Titled how to fix a crappy ass gun! LOL
Well pretty disappointing on your part and mine. I was really looking at getting the Rough Rider in 4.75 barrel length myself. I was looking at the combo model .22lr/.22WMR. One of the main issues I see is the ridiculous repair time of 3 months or more. I seem to be one of those that if there is a 1000 guns laying there on a table and 1 is defective out of the 1000 I'd end up choosing that particular gun lol. Heritage is not the only one out there that has repair techs not knowing what they are doing or they flat don't care. Keltec seems to be another one. I have a Keltec Sub2K I sent in for repair with a letter in the box as I was instructed explaining it's problem, they didn't even touch it, still has the same problem. I'd bet the Keltec repair tech just looked at the explanation letter and wadded it up and through it in the trash. It sucks.
@@HamiltonOutdoors I agree if anything is mechanical it's going to need repair sooner or later. My gripe would be taking forever to fix it. Like I mentioned 3 months on is ridiculous time frame from Heritage. Guess I'm just spoiled to other firearms companies that usually give a whole lot faster repair turn around time.
I have three of those guns. Two of them were made in Florida and work perfectly. The one that was made in Georgia won't lock on half cock, just like yours. I think Heritage went to hell after Taurus took over.
JD I will keep everybody informed and let you know what they say. I'm not sure if they'll replace it or not. But they should after two failed attempts at repairing it. Thanks for watching
Heritage firearms was bought out by Taurus several years ago. And they move their operation from Miami Florida, to Bainbridge Georgia and it would appear that their quality has gone to hell. Years ago you could buy a heritage and it would be crude in the finish but typically always functioned properly. Not only is that not the case now, but they appear to not even be able to repair the firearms they build.
Oh it was the gun for sure, after the third trip back they replaced it. I said the frame is out of spec. And I tried all different kinds of ammunition through and it would do it with everything. So yes it was definitely the gun.
I hate your luck if it was me I'd clean that gun real good take it out try to run about 500 round . clean it again and try it if you still have problems send it back to them and tell them you don't ever want to see that damn gun again give them a choice tell them you want one that works or your money back. They are going to send you another gun if it gives that much problem again then tell them you are done with the gun and you want your money back. You've paid for a service they are not providing you. Don't give them a breather they are obligated to fix the gun. The gunsmith knows that ain't right
Sorry I just now today got your comment. They did replace the gun finally. The new one shoots perfect. Only took me 6 months to get it straightened out
Yeah they did NOT fire that gun 24 times!! I have this exact issue with my brand new one. I have one made by Heritage before Taurus bought them out, and this POS after taurus bought them. The 2 are nothing alike. The frames are different and the cylinder rides and spins crooked in the new one. It's just a very slight amount but just enough to make it so the cylinder is to far away from the firing pin on 4 of the 6 cylinders. I am going to try sending it back 1 time, but I know the gun needs replaced and anything beside that will not be acceptable! I will never buy another one that is for sure, unless I found the older one at a gun show or something. Sorry to see you having so much trouble, taurus is a crap company! Here is possible a fix if you haven't trashed it yet lol ruclips.net/video/vJ7wdk2MaYc/видео.html
@@HamiltonOutdoors I sent mine in and it came back unfixed! I bought a couple Rugers then went and bought 2 more. I will never buy from taurus again, they are a worthless company! So heritage and diamondback which taurus owns is complete garbage! Glad yours is working now!! Stay away from taurus they don't stand behind their junk.
I guess you really do get what you pay for. With so many problems and poor customer service, I'd never buy one. If they charged $50-$75 more, and had better quality, they'd be able to sell more of them. What a piece of cr*p.
I bet the hammer is hitting the safety just enough to slow it down causing misfires. Looks like you're resting your thumb on the side of the safety. Try using an exact knife to shave off some of the plastic that protruding into the way of the hammer.
Lol.
Got two Miami rough riders with absolutely no issues. It’s to bad that when small companies get bought by larger ones the quality sometimes suffers
Sender back and tell them you want a new replacement or you want your money back . The company needs to make it right
I shot them an email this morning. Requesting that they replace it with a new firearm we'll see what they do. Thanks for watching the video

Yeah I agree, I have bought my last heritage product. Sorry you are having problems
I own several myself, and this is the first bad one I ever got. Their customer service is a nightmare to deal with though
My Heritage never misfired only because never have place try them. Could be way hammer is hitting might need little trim
Sorry you don't have a place to shoot your guns. That really stinks. Thank you for watching the video
Thanks for making this video. After seeing a few videos of the Rough Rider issues, I bought a Ruger Wrangler. It shoots reliably.
The Ruger Wrangler definitely a very nice single action revolver. And definitely a step above the heritage
Yeah, I just bought one of these, it’s doing the same thing. Never know when it will misfire. First 6 shoots misfired. Then after going another spin, they went off. Then it was random. Shoot 100 rounds. Misfired 25 times
Sorry to hear that heritage quality control sucks. Call them and make them fix it.
Mine works flawlessly. And I took it apart and sanded it and polished it. And it's made in the Georga plant
Great to hear, I just happened to get a lemon. All companies send one out occasionally. Thanks for watching
@@HamiltonOutdoors ah ya that just sucks tho. Hopefully they gave u something good out of it at least! Np
Good luck.
I told them not to send that gun back. Thanks for watching the video
The gun was defective they eventually replaced it with a new one. Had no problems out of the new one. Thanks for watching I appreciate it
Mine runs flawlessly. Send it back like you said and ask for a replacement.
The only problem I have with mine is the screws like to come loose. I used some blue locktite and so far so good. Ask them to watch your video.
Thanks for watching
I have 2 about a year old and mine shoot great no misfires but my friend has one that misfired and we took the 5 screws off the grip frame and put a shim in front of the hammer spring then put it all together and no miss fires and lighter trigger pull if you just put a shim without taking it apart the trigger pull will be heavier don't ask me why but thatd what happens good luck!
Looks like your getting lite primer strikes. Same problem I was having. I took the hammer spring out and put a slight bend on the spring to make it heavier.
They finally replaced this one
@@HamiltonOutdoors Thats good to hear👍
pull the firing pin cup assembly & remove about .003-.oo4 material from the face of the shoulder on the spring side of the firing pin ,,,,will give more travel to the firing spring,,,,,shimming the cylinder will fix the light strike problem but will increase the distance between cylinder & forcing cone on the barrel end,,,makes for dramatic flashes at twilight though.
Thanks for the information
Thanks Doug, I'm having the same issues and am gonna try this fix.
Just sent mine in for misfires. It fired flawless with a rubber shim added to the main spring in the handle. Hopefully it comes back repaired.
Hopefully you get it back and it is repaired and working correctly.
@@HamiltonOutdoors Just arrived back and they replaced the main spring in the grips. It now fires every shot.
That's awesome glad they fixed it
I do all my own repairs and mods. I personally wouldn't own one of these, but I guess they serve some sort of need.
Cheap fun most of the time they are good
WOW! I was gonna buy one after watching your prior Heritage revolvers. I seriously, I was just about to pull the trigger and order one today. Thanks Rob.
I do like the heritage revolvers but they send out some lemons
@@HamiltonOutdoors LOL I'm out in California and its 130 am. Bout to go to bed. What time is it there> Anyway, I always enjoy your vlogs Rob. Thanks Much!
@@dawgbrooks5706 there's a 4 hour time difference between us. So 530 here
Your firing pin housing may need disassembled and cleaned too.
This gun turned out to be defective and they replaced it
I had that problem with a box of Winchester, one out of five wouldn't fire.
@@HamiltonOutdoors did they give you a new gun 🔫.
Luckily I have only had one bad one so far.
had trouble with mine sent it back 2 never tried it yet its in the safe bouth it for my grand son thank you
Thank you for watching I appreciate it.
@@HamiltonOutdoors thanks.i will try on the grips.been shooting alot of 22 since March. Probably more than when I was a kid.
I just bought one yesterday and it’s pure junk man having same problems. Did you end up getting it replaced? It’d be nice to know what you went through before I try
Yes they finally replaced it after I sent it back the 3rd time
@@HamiltonOutdoors how’s the replacement work? Love this channel I remember watching your Hatfield 12ga sas when I bought one too
Tried my new Rough Rider out yesterday for the first time. Same exact problem light strikes.
Now I’m not very hopeful the gun will ever work right.
Best to buy all the parts and fix it yourself as they clearly don't know how. I would disassemble it and smooth out any rough parts including the frame. Single actions are very simple guns with few parts. No reason it should not be reliable. In any case good luck.
They replaced it with one that wasn't out of spec. New one works fine
@@HamiltonOutdoors outstanding. Glad for you.
They make two kinds of Rough riders, good ones and bad ones. Hope you get yours squared away
I have had 2 6 1/2 inch HRR with the same problem. My 4.75 shoots fine. I have a video of how i fixed the problem on the second one i bought. Just a peace of tape. Quick and easy and cheap. It may fix yours.
They have already replaced this one it was a lemon
@@ConcernedCitizen1957 hope you figure it out

Some of the ammo out there has a lot of duds in it
Taurus bought them out in 2012....they moved to georgia in 2019.
I have one the older ones and I think it might be slightly better quality. Although quality is never been one of their strong suits lol

I may do that it's apparent heritage manufacturing is not going to fix it. Thanks for watching the video.

How long have you had your gun?
I don't see any point in dealing with them any longer.
check your shells + find the ones that work the best cci work the best in my heritages

😎😎👍. Have fun.
Yeah since this one back and they eventually replaced it. The new one they sent me had no issues. They all make a lemon now and then
put shim about the size of a create card under the hammer spring and the frame
The design of that pistol looks exactly like the Herbert Schmidt .22lr revolver made in the 1960s
Good information, thanks for watching
I owned 2 of those. Very reliable revolvers, also alloy frames but with steel cylinders and barrel.
Send it back for a refund!!!!!?
Then buy a Ruger....
Yu'll be happy tht yu did!
Sad to see this happen to ya and don't know if this will help ya but a video bass&frenzy did a video about disassembling and polishing parts on it . granted on a new gun you shouldn't have to do this but like in life nothing is fare or makes sence.
Thanks for watching I appreciate it, they eventually did make it right after 6 months
Givin the cost of these really cool guns sending in for repair is silly. Just by a new one.
I disagree, if I buy a new gun I expect you to work. And why would I go to buy another one and it may be bad too. That's what warranties are for
I got one works great I mean it is $120. If you expect top of the line 120 not gonna get u that
I expected to work properly. If you bought any other product for $120 you would expect it to work. Manufacturers need to be held responsible for their products. Took three times sending it back but they finally replaced it with one that worked. I guess what you're saying is I should have just paid $120 for a gun that doesn't function properly. And live with it.
@@HamiltonOutdoors I hear ya but rim fire guns are known for those issues even one alot more money

Center fire ammo is what u want if u want 100 percent fire rate

@@HamiltonOutdoors Sounds good.

@@HamiltonOutdoors sounds like a good idea to me!
It sucks.
Overall I like the heritage firearms, as own six of them. And all companies turn out and defective product from time to time
@@HamiltonOutdoors I agree if anything is mechanical it's going to need repair sooner or later. My gripe would be taking forever to fix it. Did not know Taurus made the heritage pistol
Yea I got one too didn't send it back I just named it missy

They finally replaced the gun the replacement seems to work fine
@@HamiltonOutdoors I sent mine in and it came back unfixed! I bought a couple Rugers then went and bought 2 more. I will never buy from taurus again, they are a worthless company! So heritage and diamondback which taurus owns is complete garbage!
Glad yours is working now!! Stay away from taurus they don't stand behind their junk.
I guess you really do get what you pay for. With so many problems and poor customer service, I'd never buy one. If they charged $50-$75 more, and had better quality, they'd be able to sell more of them. What a piece of cr*p.
hi try cocking it real slow do each action slow
Thanks for the tip I appreciate that and thank you for watching
If you are willing to do a little DYI, here is a great how-to video.

Thanks for the info I'll check out the video. But heritage did replace this revolver with the new one quite some time ago.
These things are such garbage. The ruger wrangler is so much better for a cheap .22.
This was the first one I have ever had a problem with. And I have several of these garbage guns. LOL

I bet the hammer is hitting the safety just enough to slow it down causing misfires. Looks like you're resting your thumb on the side of the safety. Try using an exact knife to shave off some of the plastic that protruding into the way of the hammer.
