  • Rugby podcasters Brett McKay and Harry Jones are joined on The 8-9 Combo by Planet Rugby writer and connoisseur of stadium security dominant tackles, Jared Wright, for a full look back on South Africa’s thumping of Argentina to wrap up The Rugby Championship for 2024, and what has really made this Springbok team so dominant on their way to their first southern hemisphere title since 2019.
The guys also ponder the future of The Rugby Championship and what it might look like in the years New Zealand and South Africa tour each other. Perhaps this really is the chance for SANZAAR to stop talking about it and finally bring Japan and Fiji into the fold properly.

Today I found out that Eben and PS are both only 32. Crazy, both probably haven't even peaked yet and already greats.

I think it is much easier to be a 9 and shines behind a dominant pack like the boks.

Everyone is going to look better with a dominant pack. It's a team game - improve your set piece. It is about skill and not size - Ox is actually pretty small. They spend hours in analysis, let alone practice.
This is such an irritating excuse. As if having a dominant pack is an unfair advantage.
It takes years of work to build a system that can achieve that kind of forward dominance. It shouldn't be treated as a reason to dismiss quality backs

Am i the only one that noticed that the BOK WINGS had a greater influence in the game for the first time in TRC this year?
Could it be because Libbok played 10 or was it just coincidence?

Am I the only one that noticed when both Pollard and Manie played with the Bok pack B team in Argentina, the team scored 3 tries with Pollard at 10, and 0 tries with Manie at 10?
And, when both played with Bok A team pack in Nelspruit, Boks scored 4 tries in 65min with Manie at 10, and 3 tries in 15min with Pollard at 10?
Or is it all just a coincidence not fitting the narrative for some ?

YES, the wings was more brought into the game. The reason is, imagine a man like Cheslin Colby, who need no introduction, wasted getting hardly any ball. SO, as you can see he had his opposition in sixes and sevens, he also scored and created a try for fassie. This is whats making the Springboks so dangerous now. The Niew Zealand pundits say it's SCARY.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
