Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another ABBA Reaction with "Put On You White Sombrero." ABBA takes there iconic talent and fuses it with this amazing sounding track. I still can't believe it!? Frida's vocals by far are the best I've heard thus far projection, and vibrattos. Even the "rejected " ABBA songs are leagues above the mediocre "best" songs of other bands. This song is a gem and one of the best examples of the supreme blend of A and A's voices. That "3rd voice" is so prominent in this. Great on the ears.

This is one of Frida's best performances. It's unbelievable that this went unreleased till the 90s.

An absolute gem, vocals from Frida and Agnetha show what fabulous singers they are.
That's what happens when you put 2 Soprano's together in one group, Frida is a Mezzo Soprano and Agnetha is a Soprano!

Frida's voice positively bristling with emotion. When Agnetha joins in you could almost say that this is the quintessential sound of ABBA. Like you say, it's such a great song and amazing that it lay hidden for so long. As others have said, you are in for such a treat when you get to react to Elaine.

Agnetha doesn't come in till part three of the song to give it the full soprano lift. Versre one and two of the song was Frida (alone) doing her own beautiful opera style backing. The two girls sang together completely on the last verse and did it amazingly. What a wonderful song!
Agnetha and Anni-Frid make the PERFECT voice combination. Both have different range and in many times we can not distinguish who is singing. ABBA is unique and there will no other musical group that reach what ABBA made. Unbeatable legacy from Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anni-Frid!!!!!!!!

ABBAs songs are full of catchy and happy melodies; you get in such a good mood when you listen to ABBA. Their music pick you up when you are down or in a depression. Make you want to dance and celebrate being alive. The music is effortless, and yet so complex in all their different layers. In my opinion, Benny Andersson is one of the very best composers of our time.
When you really and fully understand the text of ABBA songs, you will be amazed of the depth in the lyrics and the phenomenal insights in the challenges of being human. This ability allows us to easily identify with the lyrics. I do not know of any other group that can captivate me and enchant me like ABBA. Their music and lyrics are magical.
Neither do I know of any other group that can evoke as many different and genuine emotions and feelings in me as ABBA do. This is a rare talent that ABBA have in abundance.
I go as far as to say that this talent makes their music and lyrics a real healing on a very deep, unconscious level. So, in these very turbulent, chaotic and uncertain times, ABBA has a HUGE mission.

Just wanted to say I saw ABBA live at Manchester Free Trade Hall in 1977. I was 20 years old and it remains one of the greatest nights of my life. I'm now 63 and love every track these guys ever put out. Their musicality and vocals, from both girls, are unsurpassed.
Frida voice here is surperb although they both sing brilliantly
I have always loved this song. Frida's voice is great. When Agnetha joins , it makes the harmonies just amazing. You can hear every word so clearly. Not many artists these days can do this. And lets not forget the boys who can write and compose such great songs.
I also discover this song now, it's absolutely divine, Frida sings with such passion, so loud with a gorgeous vibrato, then both girls harmonize beautifully as in all their songs. No matter who leads, when the other joins becomes divine, that means ABBA, two excellent composers and two golden voices ❤️❤️❤️
It's all just a good body of work of a band that just wants the planet too be happy......costs nothin too be nice 🌈💚🎈⭐💕💕🦋🐝. ABBASOLUTLY. 😉.

It wasn't even a b-side. It wasn't released until several years after they disbanded, in the 90's, during their first big revival. Love it.
One of my favourite Abba songs.. Euphoric. The vocals!
The song is a great example of a musical phenomenon made up of the voices of both women Frida nad Agnetha, the compositional talents of both men Benny and Bjorn as well as the lyrical talent of Bjorn. The four of them created and developed Abba's original and unique sound that can be considered in the category of musical syncretism. Each of them alone was not the same, anymore. They were just made for each other and... pity that they broke up in both musical and private lifes.
I only just heard this song last night for the first time and I am amazed it's so beautiful, Frida's voice is so beautiful.
Their voices are true, no over tones or fixing their voices, what you hear is what you get! Brilliant aye.

Here said about talent of Frida, but nothing about Agneta. She is only back vocal in last part of this song.
Many people took Frida for granted, focusing mostly on Agneta because of her looks not realizing what a great talent Frida really is, not taking anything away fro Agneta of course, I love them all equally. Greatest band ever hands down.

So many of ABBA's songs that I love are not the more popular or familiar; it is songs like this that demonstrate their song writing and story telling prowess. Love your reaction to this. That they can drop in to other cultural styles and do it justice says so much about their ability and talent.

SO so glad you reacted to this! So many of today's bands need to listen to some Abba and hear just how you construct a song and make it sound effortless. Beautiful. And I think one of my husband's favourites of theirs.
I consider this to be actually one of Abba's best songs, probably top 10 for me. A very uplifting song, subtle complexities and wonderful harmonies. I'm more of a progrock and metal guy, but hey, I can spot quality in every genre (with my untrained and unprofessional ear).

As a side note, elements of ‘Sombrero’ were used in Cassandra. Because they didn’t think ‘Sombrero’ was good enough for release, they stole bits out of it for Cassandra. That’s where you get the ‘B side’ thing from.

And if you can react to the concert video version that is something special. Only when I got the live 79 cd and heard some of the intros throughout did I realize they made a special effort to introduce Agnetha as Bjorn's friend. That along with the song was I think a way of saying that even depsite the divorce things would go on and they would always be friends. Kind of sweet.

ABBA fan 4ever! One of my favorites (including the full album). ABBA fans certainly recognized how ABBA was progressively changing their styles and some format. They were just evolving a newer sound while still retaining the true original Abba style. I feel VISITORS and SUPER TROOPER showed this trend and maturity. I was so sad in 1981-82.
"Elaine," is another Super Trooper bonus track definitely worth a listen. It's a jumpy rock song, that starts with a singular synth groove!

When you hear first at beginning and with that title, we'll you think it's just a fun song,
But actually it's a fantastic one because of vocals and instrumentation
Love your excitement for a song nobody knew before 1994 existed except ABBA and those studio musicians who recorded it and abandonded it in 1980. That's the incredible thing about ABBA, they weren't afraid to disguard stuff they weren't completely satisfied with. Frida's vocal is so powerful on this track and the harmonies with Agnetha are stunning, and a reminder to all us old fans back i 94 why we fell for this band. I think 'Sombrero' was virtually forgotten by Bjorn and Benny as well until Carl Magnus Palms research for his book 'ABBA The Complete Recording Sessions' promtped a check of the archives and the track was finally released on the 4 X CD box set 'Thank You For The Music'. Now, you really need to check out 'Our Last Summer', a stunning Frida vocal that did make it to the Super Trouper album.
