ABBA Put On Your White Sombrero Reaction 1. That intro should be trumpets 2.That is a long intro 3. Nice vocals i love it If you like me please use my amazon affiliate code to support my channel: amzn.to/3qlXdle If you don't like me use my amazon affiliate code to support my channel: amzn.to/3qlXdle
One of the great things with ABBA is that they did not follow given patterns on "how the music should be" They were never predictable and that gives their music even more of a timeless touch then it already has and it never gets boring. The intro is long, that is correct, but its good, which makes it well worth the time listening to it. Concerning the intro,I think its perfect sound with their syntheziser, its sounds almost like real trumpets actually. A very ,if one can put it like this, organic sound.. The vocals of Frida is great,so is the backing vocals of Agneta. As always, their voices melts beautifully and amazingly together...and Frida is super strong in her lead vocals as well..all throughout the song...
I've always loved this song. Frida is very strong lyrically and then when Agnetha joins in, the song just fills up and love the belting high notes she hits. Typical ABBA perfection.
A hidden gem, but then again so many abba songs are gems. haven't heard this in a while and I'm appreciating it more. Frida's warm velvety voice shines here, and the harmonies are amazing. It is a song that grows on you.
Oh my goodness, it's so nice and when they all come in together itsbliwing my ears out. They are just like the bee gees. All of ABBA together 💥💥💥💥 liked this alot jay 👍👍💞💞
I love mariachi music, the guitar and trumpets. Having come from New Mexico this was just a part of our culture. So yes I really like this ABBA song a lot!!!
Can you imagine any other group thinking this wasn’t good enough to put on the original album 🤯 amazing. This song really demonstrates the power of Frida’s voice, along with Me & I and Should I Laugh Or Cry, two other songs worth reacting to
I just love the way this song allows Frida`s voice to shine. And, of course Agnetha with the higher notes in the chorus. Beautiful. Agree about the trumpets. Didn`t think of it myself, only felt something should`ve been different. Trumpets would do it.
I think, synthesizer probably :). But yeah, this sound is so good. I even added it on our list of songs for Scout groups: www.forum.exospace.cz/viewtopic.php?f=162&t=1805
Another great song from ABBA i agree with You the chorus is so beautiful and the músic is so power different of all songs but ABBA always find the way to made new differents styles of songs I believe that when You listen to "Hole in your soul" find another example of the ABBA versatility music Great reaction, as always so nice to see you again My best regards from Argentina
Sombrero was the last of three recordings for the Super trouper album along with Lay All Your Love On Me to be made and it being finally jettisoned for the last track recorded being Super Trouper in the end. The backing track has the feeling of a temp track to me. I think if it came earlier in the Super trouper sessions, they may have had time to tinker with it more and perhaps add the trumpets as you say. Time pressures for release may have led them to just abandon it.
Another great song from ABBA love your reaction Jay. Please could you react to the live version of ABBA songs HOLE IN YOUR SOUL AND HE IS YOUR BROTHER AND TIGER 3 ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT SONGS LIVE JAY IM IRISH AND ABBA ARE A SUPERGROUP THE BEST GROUP ON THE PLANET. THANKS JAY LOVE ALL YOUR REACTIONS TO ALL SONGS AND ARTISTS. STAY SAFE JAY.
Thank's for providing my little ABBA fix for the day. Didn't this end up as Cassandra? Somebody probably knows for sure. But both are great and really let Frida show off her talent. Makes you wonder how much stuff they still have stashed. Maybe not whole songs but projects they could bring back to life with the girls. Hope Springs Eternal.
Dear. There are no backupsingers on the ABBA recordings. It´s Agnetha and Frida who does all the vocals on the ABBA songs. They do both the lead and the backup.
An Abba reject which wasn't released until much later. I like it a lot, as you do. I've never seen you so enthused by an Abba song before. Great review. Nice.
I think that Björn and Benny were way too harsh of their own music. It probably becomes that way as a perfectionist as they must be,but I still think they should have giving this song more credit then they did. It defenitely should been space for this great song in their 1980 album as I see it.
the trumpets were no real trumpets but made by their synthesizers. The guitar parts were real guitars. And a lot of voice dubbed several times. A beautiful harmonic song.
You should listen to Linda Ronstadt in the beautiful album "Boleros Y Rancheras" and you'll see that this song is a "pastiche"; an ironic way of saying "go away" to a macho man who doesn't really care about thae woman who sings, and she's the real hero in this song.
Jay just a thought, maybe listen to robin Gibbs oldest son. Spencer gibb, ( your gonna love me again) alternate version & orchestral version. I think its different but so dam good.💕💕💕
@@jaybrielakoi7747 I agree with you about the trumpets. Perhaps Benny can Bjorn can re-mix it with trumpets and guitars? It would be awesome! I think at the time, they purposely kept it to synthesizers, for a more contemporary feel, but I think real instruments would elevate this song.
Can your believe how catchy Put On Your White Sombrero is - especially when you consider Benny and Bjorn basically discarded it?! Even Abba's rejected tracks are great.....You also heard "Our Last Summer" from 'Super Trouper', which you really liked, and I believe "Lay All Your Love On Me". I think you'll find "The Piper" interesting. Dark and medieval story on that one, a subtle warning about fascism.
I can see why this didn't make it onto the album. I'm a pretty big ABBA fan, but this is the first time I've heard it. I might like it more with additional listenings. Many of their songs I did not like at first but they ended up having staying power with repetition.
This one is good! But I can´n understand why it wasn´t included in Super Trouper-album. And it´s so much better than many of the songs on the Visitors-album. It should have been there.
In some way this would not have fitted on The Visitors album. The spirit and beauty of the songs on the Visitors is a different world from that of Super Trouper... for example the synths, the drums, the bass sound very different on the two albums. ABBA never repeated themselves on subsequent albums
Jay, you might like Dana Winner's video of this song with the Mariachi band and of course the trumpets. It's really good and great fun to watch. I think Bjorn and Benny dropped the ball on this one, especially if they did a Spanish version.

Love this Great Song! Certainly, a Hidden Gem! Love Abba! Great Reaction too!!
ya hidden gem for sure.
verry beautiful and different frida what a voice. you wanna go to Mexico ore a warm land for a holiday.
Frida's vibrato - yay!
ya I'm weird when it comes to vibrato .
Wow, this song is AMAZING! Epic!
The backing singers are Frida and Agnetha (also Bjorn and Benny sometimes) as on all their studio recordings.
nobody better to back you up than yourself.

Really good song. Happy you mentioned that. Great job.
If only it was trumpets

It’s the same Synth sound
holy cow if they brought back unfinished projects that would be nuts.
“I cry while you’re disappearin’”
It really has that mexican feel about It, not bad for a group from Sweden.
Dear. There are no backupsingers on the ABBA recordings. It´s Agnetha and Frida who does all the vocals on the ABBA songs. They do both the lead and the backup.
ohhkay just checking
oh wow!!!! i love it!
Great song and great reaction! So it is time for Cassandra... and guess why?
An Abba reject which wasn't released until much later. I like it a lot, as you do. I've never seen you so enthused by an Abba song before. Great review. Nice.
Hmm, I wonder if you've done Love Light.
I kind of dig it!
very interesting different song.
You ask for what we think of this song. It's ABBA, need I say more??? 🥳🥳🎉
Your right jay, trumpet s. It will sound more Spanish style just like the lyrics. 🥰🥰
I think that Björn and Benny were way too harsh of their own music. It probably becomes that way as a perfectionist as they must be,but I still think they should have giving this song more credit then they did. It defenitely should been space for this great song in their 1980 album as I see it.
It's gotta be hard though when they expect you to crank out a hit every single record.
this song sounds as if it has been written by a spanish person, i wonder if benny and bjorn did actually write all those songs 🤔
the trumpets were no real trumpets but made by their synthesizers. The guitar parts were real guitars. And a lot of voice dubbed several times. A beautiful harmonic song.
I think those are synthesizers.
There's so many instruments. It's hard to know what something is.
You should listen to Linda Ronstadt in the beautiful album "Boleros Y Rancheras" and you'll see that this song is a "pastiche"; an ironic way of saying "go away" to a macho man who doesn't really care about thae woman who sings, and she's the real hero in this song.

That's true he has a son. I thought about it but I haven't even touched Andy all that much.
I think the melody is based on a Spanish traditional. Its great with the electric sound but some acoustic guitars would have been super.
ohhh ya you're right. Acoustic guitars. they needed that.

Tiuana Abba, with more chewy strumming than a day old taco. I agree on the trumpets, but it's somehow maintaining a Nordic feel with the synth
Bee gees
Great. Never heard it before
me neither
