Yes, this is one of her best vocal performances. I think Frida never got enough credit, because Agnetha sang lead on more hits. But songs like 'I Have A Dream', 'I Wonder (Departure)', 'One Man, One Woman', 'Our Last Summer', 'Cassandra', 'Should I Laugh Or Cry', and 'The Visitors' are just fantastic.
@@Pulsar77 They actually had an equal number of solos, and a lot of Frida's solos went to the top: Super Trouper, Fernando, I have a dream, Knowing Me Knowing You, Money Money Money etc. It may vary from country to country, but Frida has always had a very enthusiastic group of followers. She's very loved indeed .-)
@@m.menneke8513 Oh, I think Frida's leads were far more interesting. Among my favorites are The Visitors, When All Is Said and Done, Me and I, Like an Angel..., Knowing Me Knowing You etc. Perhaps less easily accessible, and more experimental and complex. ABBA at its most advanced and artisticly ambitious.
This is one of my favorites. The complex structure, the amazing arrangement, Frida"s voice, and the layered backing vocals, everything just works. This is how to write an intelligent pop song. It is indeed very musical-esque. A few years earlier they wrote a mini-musical called 'The Girl With The Golden Hair', for which three songs were recorded: 'Thank You For The Music', 'I Wonder (Departure)', and 'I'm A Marionette'. Thematically, 'I Let The Music Speak' is obviously close to 'Thank You For The Music'. Musically, the beautiful song 'I Wonder' has a similar sound, again with Frida as lead. And 'I'm A Marionette' is the most dramatic and theatrical song they've ever recorded. Really intense vocals and great orchestration, it will surprise you.
This is one of the few songs where Frida's voice gets the room to develop and takes the stage profoundly. At times I get Barbra Streisand/Yentl vibes. Because of the orchestral arrangement in combination with the wonderful storytelling by Frida.
In the 1980’s Benny and Björn joined up with Tim Rice to creat the Musical “Chess” you should check out the songs from this “One Night In Bangkok” sung by Murray Head and “I Know Him So well” sung by Elaine Paige & Barbara Dickson which was the 2nd best selling single of 1985 and the best selling single by a female duet of all time on the UK charts.
I know him so well, Elaine Page ( west end royalty) and Barbara Dickson, no 1 in UK for weeks 1986, From CHESS, a musical the boys wrote with Tim Rice,. Also covered by Whitney.
Frida's phrasing is absolutely amazing. The way she leads from the 2nd verse into the chorus with several bars? You don't hear singers doing that these days.
Musical plays are a form of drama, so yes you watch them. But this is a stand alone song, and songs can be excerpted from musicals anyway. This is clearly one of their best later songs.
This song was really the bridge between Abba and them writing their first musical. It finds its way in to the 'Where I want To Be' musical number from Chess. I hope you don't dislike the entire wind section!
ABBA I Let The Music Speak reaction 1. Great job for the flute. I like the rips and it really stood at at the perfect time. 2. Form factor of this is good. It goes from like a waltz to a ballad to a march. I like how it goes through so many different things. 3. Singing was beautiful. Normally they're not that exposed especially on longer notes but here they're fully exposed.
They are moving to musical theater kind of style during this time in their career. The boys wanted to move from the typical 3 minute pop song they have mastered all through out
Here is another Frida song for you. I don't see you reacting to this video, but you should watch it just to get an idea of Frida's incredible vocal range. I will let Wikipedia describe this performance. "In the summer of 1967, Lyngstad won a national talent competition with the song "En Ledig Dag" ("A Free Day" or "A Day Off"). Unbeknownst to Frida, the winner of the contest was also expected to appear the same evening in one of the country's most popular TV shows at that time, Hylands Hörna (Hyland's Corner; Lennart Hyland being the host of the show). This programme was broadcast for two hours, on the very same day that Sweden changed from driving on the left-hand side of the road to the right. For this occasion the show was re-named Hylands Högerhörna (Hyland's Right Corner)." Frida became a professional singer at the age of 13 singing in dance bands. In this performance she is 21 or 22 years old. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/xHUGxTvkKis/видео.html
Watched the whole video. At first I thought you meant she was 13 in this video. I freaked out. lol. It's weird for me to see her not singing in english.
at the time b&B wrote this they again were experimenting with new sounds as heard on the title track the visitors, and the more classical styles like the song above which sounds much like the music they wrote for the musical chess. thats the direction they were heading.
@@robertdinmore1971 It was probably blocked for a while. Jaybriel mentioned that Eagle got blocked too, hopefully that will be resolved as well. I'm curious to see what he has to say about Eagle.
A very hard song to react, specially for the ones who don't know ABBA or are not fans. Conclusion, Jaybriel: THE VISITORS is a completely sick album... It seems they knwew it would be their last Album;;;
Thanks for the ABBA reaction. I think in my first comment to you on an ABBA reaction i told you; ABBA did all. Your probably just starting to really understand what I meant. Sure they pumped out Pop hits and by this point that was easy, But they did so much more. You should check out "I Wonder" --> ruclips.net/video/-zKKSNaRbaU/видео.html from the "Departure" album. Or if you want a solid Pop hit "One Of Us" --> ruclips.net/video/IIKAe8Wi0S0/видео.html from this album. One word comes to mind from this song: FRIDA!!!! What an amazing voice!
Frida sings the lead here beautifully, and then Agnetha comes in with excellent harmony. Frida has that rich lower register in her voice.
Frida's vocal - wow!

There are many talented singers out there but Frida's voice has that exceptional Hi-Fi quality to it.
ABBA reached the pop summit with the 1981 The Visitors album! One of the greatest pop albums ever made ❤
Few understand how truly complex this song really is.
Masterpiece!
Definitely one of Frida's finest performances.

one of hte abba songs talk about the girl with the golden hair right

first time I hear this.....unreal,...never knew they could be soooo different!
You don't need RUclips to discover ABBA songs if you really want it, do you? Just listen to their albums and discover a whole new world 😉
It’s like 10 different songs into one. Abba was out of this world!
Frida is sooo good!!!
The most beautiful female voice ever recorded. Bravo Frida! ❤
So enjoyable watching this reaction video :-) your face says everything. Another masterpiece from the four musical geniuses.

Murray Head is Anthony Head's brother. Just an interesting tidbit if you are "Buffy" fan.
I prefer Heaven Help My Heart to I Know Him So Well.
Simply, a celebration of the power of music. Thanks for the review.

And in the " Endgame"(chess) too.
This is very theatrical. Benny & Bjorn were writing musicals such as 'Chess' at this time. I love their song 'Angeleyes' from 'Voulez-vous' album
Angeleyes sounds good. I'll do that one.
You should react to Voulez-Vouz off the album of the same name by ABBA; it's one of my absolute favorites of theirs :)
Alright deal!!! I'll do it.

I can see SOS, but not Eagle, here in Belgium.

Neither one should be a single.
