When the music meets its voice.
Who can resist it? It's a masterpiece. Frida is pure talent. ABBA is amazing. Album Super Trouper is full of gems from the beginning to the end.
That is not pure talent. It takes thousands of hours of practise, even with great talent.
The entire Super Trouper album is perfection from beginning to end. There is not a single track that isn't superb.
Well said. I do agree, their best.
ther best album
Spot on! Amazing album. Michael B Tretow said that he considered that they had it all coming together perfectly for Super Trouper. Even the album artwork was perfection!
Apart from On and On and On
@@jonathanfurzeland4740Oh come on that song was really great !!! & a number 1 in Australia !!!
Frida’s vocals in the end is just perfection!
Yes! And they are even better in the Spanish version. Check it out!
Very perfrction!
Anni-Frid slays everything she sings! She is just wonderful.
That's right, Agnetha's voice is just as outstanding!
Агнете никогда так не спеть.
@@user-fb1hg3nd5v She has a beautiful voice but Anni-Frid's voice has so much sensuality and earthiness.
She holds that note for 15 secs. Arguably ABBA's most seductive or sensuous song. Beautiful.
Exactly. It is so sensual. So explicit but the symbolism, the making love of the instrument and the human. That last note, the climax is so exceptional. And Frida. What can you say about Frida? She is a woman of so many voices.
I so agree
Agreed
And she doesn't just hold it, she works it! Adding a rounded depth, coming out again and forming a proper ending - that is pure vocal control 😍
As a 60 year old who grew up with ABBA, it's lovely to see the younger generation appreciating their genius!🙏😔
Me too❤
One of Frida's best!
OMG I started crying when Frida hit the long note, wasn't expecting that from me....
Had you not heard this song before, Andi??
@@synchronicityman9062 I think I heard it as a child. Shame on me that I forgot about it..
@@andimusicjunkie3990 but you felt it! You are magic!
give it a listen in spanish beautiful
Yes, is just stunning!!!
Please more Frida......can never get enough of beautiful Frida
The ABBA music's greatest treasure and legacy in the world . Pure gold music forever .
Very beautiful songs , melodies , harmonies , lyrics , voices and interpretations this is true absolutely .
Absolute genius , pure talent , inspiration , beauty and pop perfection .
All her professional musical work is gem and masterpieces forever in the world .
Thank you, lovely Dereck, for dipping into ABBA's lesser known treasures. Frida never sounds the same from one track to another. How does she do that?? Seductive on this one; plaintive and romantic on Fernando; desolate and resigned on Knowing Me Knowing You; happy and light on Super Trouper; impassioned and self-empowered on When All Is Said And Done; comforting and encouraging on I Have A Dream; scathing on Should I Laugh Or Cry; and LETHALLY SARCASTIC and "fuck you" on Put On Your White Sombrero". The most beautifully versatile vocalist ever!!! 💕
Very well said!
Really well expressed! 'Should I laugh or cry' is one of my favourites!
@@m.menneke8513 ...what?! xxx
@@SiSlimbo - You must realize that M. Menneke is one of those legendary 'sweaty, obsessed' Agnetha fans. LOL.
@@synchronicityman9062 🤣!! I had no idea. But I understand people's love for Agnetha, I do. I love her too. But Frida has my heart!
My hope is that people who have previously written off ABBA as a disco flash-in-the-pan group will realize how brilliant they were from watching your videos. Thanks!
I have a hard time believing anyone has thought that about ABBA
@@danielleneville3725 They do... or did. None of my friends liked ABBA. They were into reggae, new wave, hard rock, post-punk and bands like Devo LOL
Frida is at her very best here...a fabulous song !!!
I'm 62. ABBA is my favorite group. Frida is my favorite between her and Agnetha. And "Andante Andante" is their #1 song for me. Also in Spanish.
This song gives me goosebumps. Frida's vocals are amazing. The harmonising is totally unbelievable!
Loving your reactions Dereck!
I just want to say: We love this song ♥ ️Frida is outstanding with her soft sensitive voice! This proves that Abba can sing everything from rock to ballads! Abbas is the world's best singing group. It proves that after 40 years they come back with a brand new album Voyage with 11 fantastic songs🎵🎶With voices that are still the same and with their own unique Sound! Thank you Abba, we love you ♥ ️ ♥ ️ ♥ ️ ♥ ️
What a spectacular voice, so soft, sensual and velvety, immediately penetrates your soul and stays there. A voice that I recognized even when she sang with Agnetha, for me the perfect voice that penetrated my mind and soul from the first note. Incredible Frida in this song 🥰🥰❤️
It's so amazing!!! I love great voice Frida!!! Bravo!!! The best song!!!
That last note by Frida! I would have been on the floor gasping for breath after that. 😊
Put on your white sombrero, un this song Frida is fantástic. ❤🎶🎼🎼
He already did a reaction to Put On Your White Sombrero a few months ago. :-D
This is one of my favorite ABBA song of all time. I am a beg fan of Frida's. I appreciate you reviewing ABBA. Thank you, Dereck.
Frida is a very singer! BEAUTYFUL!!!!!!!
Frida leading vocal on this song...cool and soothing...#WelcomeBackABBA 💖💙💛
The Spanish version is great too. ABBA did a Spanish version and Frida did a version a few years back.
MY ABBA'S FAVORITE SONG! AND LEADVOCAL IS FRIDA AGSIN! 💚
Definitely my favorite Frida track. Beautiful!
La voix de Frida est une merveille. ❤❤
The word ‘andante’ is used in music to indicate a slow pace. The whole song has a double meaning. It’s a metaphor, she’s asking him to play her softly like an instrument. Björn’s lyrics are genius as always! I suggest you checking out ‘I’m A Marionette’.
yeah the live version in Australia! Best version of this song it's amazing
@Robert Paisley I love this live performance! But I think he should begin with the studio version. It has a very distinctive spooky screepy sound and Dereck isn’t used to hear that from ABBA
@@JF-sh2sm yeah but live version gives it a massive lift shows this song how should be sung.
I admire of Anni-Frid!!! She is perfection!!!
Love,love,love this. Thanks again ABBA.❤
If you didn’t know, now you know. Frida has the best voice ever.
Agnetha is still better. Lol
Agnetha I think is better too.
Frida’s delivery on the verse is channeling a 60’s Elvis.
@@connorstephens7467 not in anyone’s alternate universe or this one
she's outstanding but Karen carpenter just edges it for me two brilliant artists.
This is too beautiful.
Goosebumps.
I'm slowly dying haha.
Great reaction on this Dereck.. Wow! I totally agree! I have loved it since its release! And I sing along with it everytime!
I heard this song on the first night of the new year 1980, Thanks Dereck for reacting to this beautiful song, the melody is amazing and Fridas' voice is just angelic. You should check "Move on" Dereck
Such a beautiful song - please react to My Love, My Life xx
Oh yeah really beautiful that one 👍
So glad you have commented on this on this one - it's gorgeous! Thank you!
This is pure Art ❤
Don´t know what i love more.....this amazing ABBA song with the wonderful Frida singing lead, or your amazing reaction :-) you are so much into the song, it´s really a joy watching you. thanks a lot.all the best to you from germany.
Wow..the end was fantastic, how long she hold the tone and changed it.
Sh^t, Dereck made this 69 yr old Zepp fan tear up yet again with ABBA!
I have been a HUGE ABBA fan since the beginning. It was not cool to love ABBA back then - I did not care. So glad to see others discover this brilliant group - your reaction was great. You should do Ring, Ring the Swedish version with the video. Great upbeat tune!
Do " I WONDER " ...... Frida really shines here
Totally agree, it´s fantastic.
@@happyhawaii0711 -And the live version is stunning too!
@@synchronicityman9062 Yes it is. It´s a shame they cut this song out of Mamma mia 2.
@@happyhawaii0711 -Agreed. It was a beautiful scene, and the movie would have flowed so much better if they'd left it in.
Yes- I wonder!
Frida is a song Goddess! Perfection personified! On the album of San Duval’s duets, Frida sings Andante Andante in Spanish! ! It’s amazing to listen to.
I love this song. It has such a sensual quality to it that sounds rarely achieve.
I knew you'd like this, one of ABBA's hidden gems! Great reaction thank you! x
Yes my wish came true!! Remember, this is pure sensuality and the last note is the climax and she got all of us there!
Sooooo Beutiful 👌👌👌‼️
Danke Dereck, war wieder eine schöne Performance!!!
Bleibt gesund und gebt auf euch acht 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏✌️🙋‼️
Frida... JUST leads THE PACK!
My definite favourite on this album - Gorgeous!
A stunningly beautiful lovely lovely record ♥
There are so many beautiful hidden gems in the ABBA repertoire, and this is right up there with the very best. That last nooooooooote 💛⭐️ The Arturo Sandoval version is exquisite, Frida aged 72! Please please also react to Our Last Summer from the Super Trouper album, it’s a stunner
Perfection, Beautiful and simply ABBA.. ❤️❤️
Thankyou Dereck for bringing to the attention of the world 🌎 the Brilliance of this group. Even now we don't have groups that can't come close to ABBAS genius.
Coming to the end of 2020 you gotta tie it in with another Super Trouper track....."Happy New Year" one of very few bands that actually made a song for New Year 🙂🙂👍
This song is Magic
My favourite song from abba!!
Derick giving Frida a run for her money on the chorus! Nice Derick!!! WOW-zers!
😆 OMG! Hilarious! Dereck letting his inner Frida out 😆 😂
After watching your reaction Dereck, I went immediately to the video of Frida with Arturo Sandoval and it was great, with Frida's voice sounding as perfect as ever.
You must listen to Should I Laugh or Cry with Frida on lead, and Put on your white Sombero, also Frida at her best.
Frida has done a lot of great stuff even outside of ABBA.
I love your knowable and engaged reactions! In fact, you did a Frida lead song not too long ago: Me and I, which is also available in a quite interesting live version from the 'Dick Cavett meets ABBA' tv-show from 1981 (recorded shortly after Benny and Frida announced that they would split up, with a very sad Frida still wearing her wedding ring).
Wow! I hadn't heard this track for years. I forgot how much I love it. What a vocal performance. 🕊️
Surprisingly a lot of the female backing vocals are also Frida... Agnetha does very little backing in this song.
Success of this song is merit of amazing Frida. Agneta does very little back-vocal here.
This song is a world class waltz.
To say they only had 9 UK #1 hits, with all these hidden songs that people don't realise they made they could've at least have had 15 #1's
Me encanta !. Tambien Frida la canta en español. Hermosa su interpretación.
ABBA are on another level of brilliance they smashed the pop scene.. came in around 1974 went on hit after hit there albums are ther best work. this song bring an example.!
What a beutifull song..thanks
Benny “smashing keys” 😂 - I LOVE that comment. Glad to see you getting exposed to more of the Frida tracks so you can hear why so many of us ABBA devotees love it when she is featured in lead (while we still love Agnetha’s vocals no less ❤️ Benny is my fave “B” in ABBA, so, I love that you really picked up on his keyboard “smashing”skills LOL! And YES, please do the Frida duet version with Arturo Sandoval, it’s beautiful!
Absolutely one of my favourites🙌🙏
My wife and. I danced to it in the very beginning. I still treasure our love at the sound of it.
A beautiful song, and beautiful vocals. I agree that it's one of Frida's finest moments. Sadly, the song only gained serious public recognition when it was featured in the second 'Mamma Mia' movie. You should check out the Spanish version too. And, as you correctly highlighted, Frida made a rare 'comeback' into the recording studio just a few years ago to make a brand new recording of the Spanish version with the Cuban jazz legend Arturo Sandoval. It's certainly worth a listen.
@@m.menneke8513- I assume you're referring to Frida's recent recording of the song with Arturo Sandoval? Well, for anyone interested in ABBA-related recordings it most certainly is worth checking out! It may not have the grandeur of ABBA's original English and Spanish recordings, and the trumpet isn't my personal cup of tea, but it was wonderful for many true fans to see and hear Frida make a rare return to the recording studio with such a jazz legend and to still sound so good in her 70's. The only ABBA fans who would not be interested in at least checking it out are the legendary 'sweaty obsessed' Agnetha fans who seem to see it as their life's mission to constantly deride and downplay Frida's contributions to the band (whilst promoting Agnetha's) lest she outshine their idol in any way, shape or form. Sadly, your every comment on this and on other reaction channels suggest that you are one of these individuals. But, if you're actually saying that this is not a beautiful song, featuring beautiful vocals from Frida, then I'm afraid that you're very much in the minority on this one because the vast majority of comments suggest otherwise.
@@m.menneke8513 That's a very vague reply and a subjective view.
@M. Menneke @@synchronicityman9062 I agree with you totally, Synconicity Man. It's sad that there are a noisy minority of puerile anti-Frida people who derive self-satisfaction from trolling anything about Frida; it's just to boost their own insecurities, so the can feel superior over others. Yet, I'm sure they wouldn't want to be similarly trolled - which is also a version of bullying.
And I'm sure that Agnetha, who those people see themselves as being fans of, would be offended by those people who are so nasty about Frida; so how can they call themselves fans of Agnetha if they're being nasty about someone who Agnetha loves?
Life's too short for the unconstructive, nasty and anti-social comments and attitudes of those people.
Gregg Field , friend of Frida and her current partner Henry Smith,
and co-producer of Sandoval's "Ultimate Duets"
gave an interview in 2018 to abba fan club about how he became friend
with Frida in 2007, and always was an ABBA fan , and mainly about the recording of "andante, andante" in 2017,
i selected 2 questions from that interview that shows how amazing
singer and professional Firda is , with 72 years old.
BTW, Benny, Bjorn and Agnetha loved the new rendition of Andante, Andante.
Eight-time Grammy winner and Latin Grammy
Producer of the Year, Gregg Field is one of
the most musically diverse and highly soughtafter producers, musicians and educators in
music. Among his recent recordings are Seal’s
Standards, Michael Bublé’s No. 1 Billboard
album To Be Loved, Alejandro Fernandez’s No.
1 Billboard album Confidencias, Jason Mraz’s
Love is a Four Letter Word, Barbara Streisand’s
What Matters Most and, of course, Arturo
Sandoval’s album Ultimate Duets that not only
features Pharrell, Ariana Grande, Stevie Wonder
and Placido Domingo, amongst others, but also
brought our beloved Frida back to the recording
studio. When we contacted Gregg prior to the
announcement of the final release date of the
album, he let us know he considers himself a
‘fellow ABBA fan’, which makes him perfect to
join our gallery of famous ABBA fans. Within no
time, we had the pleasure of an in-depth talk
with Gregg, who resides in California.
How would you describe Frida’s work
method in the studio?
[enthusiastically] Mind blowing! When Frida
first sang the song from beginning to end, she
sounded exactly like a singer who is singing all
the time and adjusting to the studio environment.
She immediately asked to do a second take and
then a third. When she finished the third take, she
turned and looked at us in the control room with
the biggest smile on her face and said, “That was
pretty good, wasn’t it?” I believe, at that moment,
Frida realized that after all this time she still ‘had
it’. She came into the control room to listen and
then said, “Let’s do it for real!” Frida was half way
through the fourth take when she sang a wrong
lyric, and she stopped and laughed. These days,
when singers record and make a mistake, we roll
back a bit and ‘punch-in’ to the recording. I asked
Frida if she wanted to punch-in, and she said, “No,
ABBA never recorded like that,” and she would
sing it from the beginning. Nobody does that these
days. Frida began to sing the fifth take and what
became be the vocal you hear on the recording.
It was a flawless and breathtaking performance.
It was as though the years had melted away. As
Frida was recording that take, Henry said, “Look
at Frida, she looks 20 years younger,” and she
did. We then watched as Frida built that ABBA
sound. She began by tripling her lead vocal
with a precision I have rarely experienced in the
studio. She then added the harmony parts and,
when finished, came into the studio to listen back.
For the first time, we all heard Frida’s amazing
vocals with Arturo’s soaring trumpet, and it was
very emotional for all of us. In all of the years I
have known Frida, I had never seen her so happy
and filled with joy as when we first heard the
Andante, Andante playback. I can only imagine
the pressure she must have felt returning to the
studio. By the time we finished, Frida and Arturo
knew they had created magic together, and we all
left the studio with hugs and tears.
Were you confident about the reaction to
the end result?
Ha! I was nervous as hell until I heard that
Benny, Björn and Agnetha loved it [smiles]!
I think, I am most amazed at Frida’s voice
sounding so ageless. That made the end result
greater than I could have imagined. It’s one of
the best duets on the album with the way Frida’s
voice and Arturo’s trumpet work so well together.
@@m.menneke8513 see my comment above , not only the majority of the comments believe this an excellent recoding from Frida, but a Grammy winner producer, and Benny, Bjorn and Agnetha loved it.
Arguably the most romantic song about foreplay ever performed...
"This is a singable song..."
My dude, it's the instrumental to a multiple orgasm!
I wonder is another Frida gem
Probably my favourite ABBA-song (and I’m a huge fan). Deserves way more attention than it gets.
Beautiful❤️
Benny on keys. Smashing! Definitely. As a pianist, I always wanted to play like Benny. 50's style rock n roll. "The Fonz" could dance to this!
🧡🧡🧡 ABBA!
ABBA delivering their distinctive vocal identification. This one escaped me too. Beautifully performed.
My personal favorite.
Just a reminder--you skipped "Head Over Heels" from The Visitors album--their last video directed by Lasse Hallstrom.
I love "Head over heels".
@@samroozen6719 I really think it's unique in their entire catalog.
Head over Heels please Dereck
@@brianadams4985 Yes, please, Dereck, Head Over Heels, just be aware that the upload on RUclips has some video anomalies, it's not really great quality. Definitely worth watching to see the humorous side of ABBA. Plus, the song is a low-key banger.
A piece of Pure Pop Heaven ❤
im so proud na pinoy ako pinaka paborito ng mama and papa ko in their wedding anniversary
Was one of my favourites.
As its the 40th Anniversary of the 'Super Trouper' album, these reaction videos are really nice to seem someone else discovering something other than the big hits. ABBA's albums are all packed with gems. I think there's still three songs from this album you haven't reviewed as far as I know, "Happy New Year", "Our Last Summer" and "The Way Old Freinds Do". All gems as well.
If you like Frida's vocals, try Cassandra but go for an audio version not a live one as the ending goes on a bit longer.
Andante, Andante may well be my favourite ABBA song. What I love about reactions to it is watching for that smile as Frida hits the last note, then the widening eyes, the smile broadening into a grin as the listener realises, Oh, my God - she's *still* going...14 seconds of vocal gold.
Personally,"Super Trouper" is my favorite Abba album🥰
For me, this is the most beautiful song of ABBA and i was waiting for your reaction. This is a Waltz which i Like the most and the short part of an old style guitar solo was right on the money. IT sounds like a christmas song. Fantastic!!!
frida ending vocal is my fav
Dereck you must just listen to there whole albums, there early albums are so funky and as they grew and developed the amazing use of the voices and the forever developing music has made them who they are .I cant say how much they are MY life.
Man i remember my parents would play this Sunday mornings. It was the one day my parents and my brother and I were home together, since mom and dad worked 6 days a week with Sunday’s being their only day off. It’s honestly just perfection as a song I’ll never forget listening to when I was little.
You're making me appreciate this song even more than I had before, and I loved it so much to begin with.
Beautiful song
verry good lovely song frida beautiful.
The entire song is about sensual lovemaking. Such beautiful innuendo.
Beautiful song, beautiful reaction!!!
ABBA: I've Been Waiting For You next, please.
Frida recently re-recorded a new version of the Spanish version and it was released in 2017. Bizarrely on the same day ABBA made their announcement that they’d recorded new songs. Meaning, sadly Frida’s release was widely eclipsed.
